MaxVapor E-Nail - 2018 Version

I can contest with the unit working above and beyond my expectations!!! I’ve only had it since Monday but I have tried @710Coils coils 25 mm barrel, 30 mm barrel and 30 mm axial, The only one I have yet to try is the 25 mm axial. Every nail used was an opaque from @710Coils and I have to say coming from the “deadqueen” , “dienet” aka hex nail and briefly the aubren rdk-300, I am shocked at accuracy of this unit. I’m between 15°-40° from the hex and aubren, with my temps between 445°-465° depending on my desired hit, use of coil, and material. You can tell that the temperature is accurately being read to from a slight fluctuation of temperature when material is placed or a fan is on and blowing, unlike the hex I found to stay steady and having no fluctuations. I have messed with the uptemp through the controller only and I am amazed at how well it operates and can’t wait to hook up to the interface, but not a huge deal atm as it’s already rock solid. So I’m completely content atm

How would you compare the Auber to the MaxVapor enail? I know the MaxVapor is better but its really worth that much more. Just wondering before I decide on my setup I am probably going to pair it with a 710 coil.

If your just starting out I would go with the auber due to the simplicity of the unit and price point. It’s a great little device for what it’s worth, will get you rock solid temps and will last the test of time. You are still able to adjust PID If desired and some other settings that are key. The auber just doesn’t have the capabilities the maxvapor does, with uptemp, cleaning, coil settings just for a few. The one thing that made me buy the auber in the first place was the size, auto shut off, and durability. So if you look in cars terms the auber is the 90s Ford Taurus gl and the maxvapor is the Tesla model s, the Taurus has all basic fretures, dependable and gets you from point a to b. While the maxvapor is like the model s still get you from point a and b but “driving with no hands and smoking a doink” just a lot more features and definitely high end.

Thanks for the help and love the comparison guess ill go with the auber for now so I can better appreciate the Maxvapor enail later on.

I got the 0.94 update recently, still getting ???? for the verification code though. Hopefully they get it working soon since I'm anxious to try out the other features. It's working great otherwise, keeps my Liger Air within 10F of 550F and I'm really loving the small size of it.

Just an FYI I was getting an access code before I just updated it to .94 but it wasn’t working, my unit is still in line to get the code activated. Now since I updated it to .94 I get the same ???? as you, though not a huge concern to me as that unit functioning amazingly well. I’m at 450° with an opaque 30mm from @710Coils and the 30mm barrel with no more than 5° of variation + or - and that’s with the room temp at 68° and a celling fan on constantly

Received mine last week. .9 version of software. I'm very happy I went his route. Durable, sleek, works just as intended while off the grid.

My control knob is a bit touchy though. I'm finding that sometimes it doesn't land on the right menu selection and goes past my intended selection. To clarify, I have to set the control knob in between 1 and 2 O'clock position instead of directly on 1 or 2 O' clock position on the dial for it to register correctly for what I'm trying to select. It just feels awkward when it happens, so I hope this can be corrected without sending it back. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm also having some technical issues hooking up to my wifi. I don't see any options to configure it on my unit but I'm still tinkering around and may figure this out later. Disabling and enabling WIFI works but I don't see any options to select settings of some sort to connect to my local wifi. There's no option to select cloudlink either on my device. I will wait for support but overall it's looking like a great product and if they can nail down the software moving forward, people on FC are going to be really happy. Thanks for the deal MV!

@buckhakeesah You want page 8 of the manual https://dashboard.maxvapor.com/static/maxvaporbt_manual.pdf

You need to connect a device to the MAxVapor network after you enable wifi on the unit. Once you connect a device to the Maxvapor network you will open a webpage on the device and type in 192.168.4.1
That will bring up a webpage of wifi networks to connect to. Select yours and type the password in. That should be all thats needed. You might need to open and close the page to get it to refresh. But it should work =)

I know I promised a few people I would be through the list of accounts by this evening but I still have about 50 to get through and I just can't stay awake anymore. If you are still getting ???? code your unit will be resolved sometime tomorrow and you will be able to link and all your wildest dreams will come true.

@buckhakeesah we are working on adding a knob sensitivity adjustment to the options some of the hardware is just more touchy than others and the defaults we chose are not good enough, it will probably be rolled out in the new few days.

@710Coils thanks for linking the manual, I believe we forgot to send that to him with his order. I would like to note the AP now listens on 192.168.4.1 which is not correct in the manual any longer. We should have the final printed booklets and zipper cases out to everyone sometime in February.

Man, I feel good having gone this route with MV. The product works great, the support is here. I was on the fence early on with the speculation that was stirred up on this thread about their past history in this business but that is all gone for me. Keep up the great work. Fellow FC'rs, @invertedisdead @scalescliffs @710Coils @maxvapor710 thank you for the shared knowledge of your personal experience! Can't wait to see what features people come up with.

Same. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the ability to connect to the dashboard and still nothing. Getting frustrated.

Can you shed some light on this decision? I know you don’t owe us an explanation or anything, just curious because you always seem to have good information behind your decisions. I really did like the look of the brushed aluminium, especially on the custom colours but maybe I’ll like the Matte finish even more. :peace:

The cost of manufacturing the enclosure is currently the most expensive and time consuming part of manufacturing and is a large reason why our controller costs a lot more than something like an Auber that uses an off-the-shelf aluminum extrusion with some end caps thrown on.

It is also the main reason, despite quite a bit of interest from the industry and wholesale requests, that the controller is currently only available for purchase direct and not in your local headshop...
there just isn't enough room for any profit to be made and I don't want the controller to cost $600, I want it to cost $199.

The current enclosure is costly to manufacture because it is CNC milled from a block of aluminum and some of the internal angles and mounting hole design are "complex". That means it has to be made on a 5 Axis CNC (which is super expensive) or a 3 Axis CNC with a bunch of post-processing steps like EDM to reach some of the angles the 3 Axis cant.

Once the CNC work is done, the brushed models have to be hand brushed with a wire brush to put the finish on them and then a bunch of polishing, etc.

Long story short is that all of these steps add a bunch of extra cost to the product for purely aesthetic reasons that has to get passed onto the customer.

Moving to the sandblasted finish allows us to automate this step of manufacturing, removing a very costly procedure in the process and we like the way it looks better as a bonus anyways.
This is just the first step to help us reach our goal of getting the worlds best e-nail controller into the hands of more people.

We recently made these green and purple units for a customer which have the sandblasted finish and I think they are amazing looking:

I got my sauce stand today!! Super rad. Holds my cap, tweezers, sauce pots, and I’m sure I’ll figure out some other stuff.

Also included was the very nice soft carrying case for the e-nail as well!

Everybody who preordered gets one of these if they want...and a case too. Send @maxvapor710 a PM on here or a DM on Instagram and he can sort you out. There was also an email that went out on Monday with instructions.

Really glad I preordered/purchased this e-nail. It has been rock solid and the uptemp mode is freaking awesome.
