Discontinued The Grasshopper

Right now they seem to have trouble even answering simple mail. I'm afraid it's not looking good for them at the moment.

In fact, I just picked up a MIQRO because it's unclear I'll have anything ultraportable for a while with 2 GHs in the great beyond.
Ditto - they're under water in more ways than one. Their lack of customer service and response and many are still reporting issues with new and RMA'd units doesn't bode well. IMO the PFE was an offering to those initially complaining about draw resistance yet I liked the design and aesthetics of the standard frontend and it's more stealthy looking than the PFE. Oh, and HL never posts on here too which means they're too busy or ignorant, or both, to the user community - hence why I say "under water" with several layers of meaning.

And my Ti is in their (RMA) hands so I commiserate with many of you. And I'd like a new portable vape too as a backup; I serendipitously picked up a Fury clone literally minutes after my Hopper died (I was very lucky too just prior to a trip to a legal state). I've been eyeing the Miqro, AirVape X and perhaps the Fierce as a backup and didn't pull the trigger on any Black Friday sales. Miss my Hopper - when it worked well it worked well but it was largely inconsistent over 2+ years - but love my Fury clone and a solid backup would be nice. How's the Miqro?

How's the Miqro?

Too soon to draw a proper conclusion, but so far it is fulfilling everything I looked to the GH for. Here's the ironic thing - I did a lot of research, as one does, and Da Vinci seems to have a reputation for build and reliability that is 180 degrees opposed to that of Hopper Labs'. It is engineered absolutely brilliantly. If the internals continue to match the build and function, and there's every suggestion they will, it will be outstanding!

RMA take forever because they are waiting for more money to come in. When I paid for an extra body everything else came fast. Messages back and forth were responded to within a few days. And when I was told it would ship that week it did. Just asked politely that they would be quick and give it a good look over and "John" did what he promised. I paid priority shipping there and had my warranty claim number in huge letters and a note thanking them and even paid priority shipping to have the body sent back and got my repaired hopper and spare body like that....

I feel it's business as usual and they aren't having problems with cash .. people are still buying them? I just sold one of my extras in the exchange and use mine daily.. it stinks there finicky but until I find something better it's got it's place in my lineup .. really number one and besides the fury for a throwaway it's all I use.

been a week since i got the broken unit. They said they would get me another one out., while basically not communicating with me at all since. Finally said i would like to be done dealing with this company . hahah but im like @elykpeace in the aspect that i cant find anything that works similar to it. When working, it is amazing. but i havent had a working one in over 2 months now :( I havent given them any money and john would respond every morning. now nothing

Fair enough. Hope it works out well! I've heard great things about Da Vinci too - Healthy Rips has a great rep too and they're very responsive and part of their FC forums herein. I've poked over at the Da Vinci forums recently too. The Miqro reminds me of a Pax but better; I was looking at the IQ but perhaps a bit pricey for a backup.

The Hopper's general form factor is fantastic, very small and obviously stealthy - less so with the PFE - however stealth is less a concern now where I am. I'm looking for function, consistently, within a portable form though nothing could be easier than the Hopper IMO for operation and cleaning. Too bad it's unreliable like HL is dealing with RMAs. :peace:

I said long time ago that a lifetime warranty is not possible for such a device. It looks like an analog one but it's not : it has dedicated batteries and lot of parts that could break everytime. I asked them, and If they honestly said to me that fixing my Gh had a cost I would certainly understand and pay the right. But they didn't, so now is over seven months that they got to change a broken little piece of metal in the backend. It's not an unknown problem, it's a 10 cent piece that doesn't allow me to have my device back. That means no more money from me and, as I see, from lot lot of people. And would you recomend it to your friends ? Also when it works, would you ever take the risk to go abroad only with it ? The trust from customers is downhill and the mirror is in this site .

Got the new body today. And it works for a hit and then goes red. Blinks blue in a sequence stops, blinks again stops, keeps doing this till it turns red :(. Works but doesn’t. Dumb as fuck. Does it for all 3 batts. It did a great job of extracting though and that’s what makes me more sad haha. O welll smh
Edit: cleaned my front ends and then it works but still have a blinking light of course. works well though in the extraction department

It was an RMA? I ask cause they received my Ti Hopper the september 4 of 2018 and still not received any good news, I didn't hurry them though and only send them 2 emails to know how things are going with exactly the same answers for both.

When I get it back maybe I'll try to cut the battery compartment to try to mod it to fit a 510 mod box...

Yes, I think my batteries are the issue

I have blinking lights and all my batteries are relatively new.

This is a different blinking lights. This is like a strobe light show. All of mine have had blinking lights but not the sequence like this. As soon as it gets to temp it does it and eventually goes red like it does when the battery dies

I never had cop lights with my Ti, i.e. red and blue flashing simultaneously; only red when the battery was dead. I have 5 or 6 batteries and half of them are newer (I number them to track and rotate them) and the newer ones definitely perform better and obviously longer than the old ones. At the end I couldn't get it to turn on at all, after experiencing poor vapor quality for quite some time on the same temp range I've always used for 2 years - and then I knew it was off to RMA purgatory where it resides now. I've heard about cop lights before and, sadly, many similar tales of woe about the operation of the Hopper in this forum. Mostly bad too recently. What a shame - we all just want a consistently working Hopper...:peace:

I wish grasshopper labs made a simple version of the grasshopper, i dont care about temp, i keep mine on max. the fancy charging mechanism is also unnesasery and i would prefer a normal usb.

I think by removing these two aspects and having a simple vape that turns on heats up in 5 seconds and has a USB charger so i can charge with any cable, the device would be more reliable and not so prone to braking.

I love my grasshoppers, but my original one broke after about a year and i couldnt deal with the wait so i hot a TI one and that didnt work when it arrived and i needed a replacement body.. so far it still work one and a bit years on but i live in fear. My firend who also got one his dies after 6 months and that was about when my first one died.. he still has not recived his back from repair.

A vape should be a simple product that works.. like a spliff does. You light it and you get high. I hate all the gimiky stuff i see in the vape maket these days with apps and staged setting and funky designs. Its NOT an Iphone!

I think this is illustrated best in the popularity of the vap cap.

Not sure how much simpler an electronic device, i.e. vape, could get than the Hopper. The devil however is in the details and HL’s problem rate, i.e. number of units going back for RMA service. No one knows the latter at all but most herein, especially the last several months, are on the negative side of things; not many positive posts lately.

Unscrew the frontend to load, turn the dial for the temp & turn it on. I can’t imagine anything simpler really.

I’ve not once used the supplied charging ring and instead use Nitecore chargers for the batteries, though I could see someone wanting to quickly charge the battery in the unit for on-the-go purposes, perhaps in a car too. But I always have spare charged batteries as I know they don’t last that long and I’d hate to be without. Except now: my pre-order Ti is in RMA. Sigh. :peace:

It is very simple to use but it's not a simple device. It is composed of many parts ( some of them coming in stock from China, as written on this forum long time ago ). Also batteries are dedicated . Too parts to be sure 100% that it will work forever with no issues. Anyway I don't desire a simple GH, only a workin one.

Anyone buy a hopper from theherbcafe.com? If so, has anyone tried their warranty process? They say they take care of it in-house. I’d buy one from them if it’s true.

“All Hopper purchases made from us can be warrantied through us.”

I think that means they’ll send it to Hopper Labs for you when it breaks....

I have. He said he would warranty it. I'm in US so the shipping back and forth is a little more but turn around is a week or two I guess Sachin has a rep in Toronto who fixes them

But you haven’t needed to actually go thru the warranty process yet, right? Just want to hear someone say they got their RMA done promptly from them and I’ll order one right now.

I sent mine in for my 3rd RMA on July 28, 2018 (the 2 previous were returned within 3 weeks, but that was a couple of years ago) and received it back on about November 5th. It was barely making vapor so i sent it back on November 13th for repair and got it back on December 4.

It's now back to its massive vapor production. I can only take 5 second pulls as it's just too much for me to handle.
