@alexwallis and @ACE OF VAPE ,

The idea of a more tactile control dial is, I would venture to say, likely a feature many of us might appreciate...it would also make it harder for the temperature to change by accident if it gets nudged unintentionally. It would be great to offer this as an option in your store.

Thanks for the suggestion, Alex. Once again, people with disabilities lead the way in interface technology!

This is one for @OF

Sorry, I don't know the vape (and therefore normally would not comment at all.......ignorance you can get almost anywhere?).

If I follow (reading back a bit) the topic is how to keep the heat adjustment from being shifted sccidently? By the looks of it it's a 'open loop duty cycle control' like you might find on a lamp dimmer or heating pad control. Open loop means it's not closed, that is it doesn't really look at how hot it is to control (like a thermostat, auto cruse control, or most portable vapes do). Fairly crude, but no doubt adequate for the job.

It's not a 'rotary switch' really, even if it has 'clicks'. Other similar controls should work fine though.

A different sort of similar control is found on electric blankets where a small heater is added to the control box to heat it locally as long as the heater is on. This way, when the room cools at night the little heater (and therefore the blanket) is on a larger percentage of the time to make up for it. That is not useful to us I'd think, I'd avoid that class of controllers.

Something like this should work fine:
https://www.amazon.com/AmerTac-6089...TZVQKBTYTX4&psc=1&refRID=E3AN6J0Y4TZVQKBTYTX4

Normally, to keep such knobs from being accidentally knocked off setting a locking knob is used. Often a small lever or tab. Something designed in. If I faced it I'd consider low tech solution, like a piece of tape? Or a toothpick or similar wedged between knob and case? Perhaps removing the knob? The bare shaft is much less likely to be accidentally changed? Typically the knob would slip on splines on the shaft held by friction.

Merry Christmas to all of us, and those we share life with. And best wishes for a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Hi Andy, I think I have that right? I got someone to look at my nano for me, and they opened it up and said that it seemed like the screw inside was as tight as it could be, but I wasn't there so I don't know for sure if they were even looking at the right screw.
even so they put it back together and gave it back to me and the metal sleeve is still just as loose as before, maybe even slightly worse if anything. Is it possibly just the wooden case is getting old? if I leave the issue I assume long term this really wouldn't be good for my nano? I mean I am not bothered if the issue is purely cosmetic, but if it will eventually cause damage or shorten my nanos life then I suppose fixing it would be a good idea.
regarding emailing you, the address I send my original email to was support@epicvape.com the message didn't get bounced or anything so is that address no longer in use or something, if so maybe it should be turned off so that people can't send emails to it.

as regards shorting out if the dimmer did get burnt out from a short does that mean it could catch fire or something a short doesn't sound good even if its a remote possibility.
I will send customer services an email, though if I decide to get it fixed very much depends on how much it might cost.
though actually if I am sending the nano back for repair, I wonder if you might be able to consider trying to add a new custom option for controlling the temperature for me, as I explained I am blind, and so setting the rotor dial accurately is very difficult because I have no tactile feedback or anything to help me determine where I have the dial set. the best I have been able to do is put two tactile markers on the dial to try to help me orientate it to the number 7, but this is really not effective as it can be hard for me to line the two markers up properly, and plus lets say I don't want a number 7 but want something stronger or weaker, the shape of the dial makes it impossible for me to stick more than two markers on.
This is because as it currently stands the shape means I need one marker on the dial and a fixed one that I can line up with, the dial is so small there is simply not enough room for more than two markers and me being able to effectively use them.
what I would find much more helpful is if I could have some sort of switch control with clear click positions one for each number though I don't know if a swtich like this actually exists. I am thinking of the sort of old ffashioned switches you used to get on analog stereos that you used for switching between different modes like cd or tape, or that you might slide to turn a radio on that would move one notch at a time and you could stop it in each position.
I can use the dial system I would just like to have more control over my temperature and if it is coming back for what could be an expensive repair then I would like to see if control might be able to be made easier for me.
If the tube is still loose you can jam flat toothpicks between the aluminum and the wood. That will most likely hold it in place and will cause the unit no harm. Unfortunately I have been unable to locate a friction potentiometer that will fit in the existing circuit board. Any lamp dimmer will work as suggested earlier. Just leave the Nano dimmer on 10, and use the alt. dimmer as the controller. You can also use a remote (smart) dimmer that plugs into the wall. They will remember what the last setting is when you turn the remote on/off and have a push button up or down that you can count to change the heat setting.Many of them can be controlled via a phone app or Alexa as well.

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply. That is a shame you didn't find anything that could fit the existing circuit board. As to your idea of using a lamp dimmer, I am not sure if this would be practical, as because of being in the UK I have my nano running from a step down converter so I have a big box sitting under my desk which the nano then plugs into. I assume that your modifications for a removable cord don't adapt the nano to use a UK plug directly?
anyway I guess I would need to find something I could plug into the back of my step down converter which the nano could then plug into. I wonder though with a dimmer how using a third party option would then stack up to the nanos numbers.
either a switch control or an app would be best I think because if something was button operated I would always have to remember what temperature I had left it set at unless it reset when switched off. Maybe this issue is something you could look at exploring further in a redesign in the future as it sounds like other people would also welcome a redesign of the current rotor dial system.

Thanks to those who mentioned the crafty, I did actually consider this vape but I am not that keen on getting a portable vape partly because of having to keep it charged, efficiency vs the nano but most important safety. I have always stuck to log vapes because I have been able to be sure that there is no risk of me accidentally burning myself and its why I never really looked seriously at non log vapes, because it can be quite hard for me to make a decision as to weather something will be safe for me to use without physically seeing it. though if there are other vapes about that might be equally as efficient as nano, just as safe and that might offer me better temperature control I would be interested in thoughts. as also I don't need anything complex like a volcano much as I would like one. stealth is also a big concern for me as well. I still love my nano, its just really temperature is a guess most of the time even when I try to use the markers I have put in place so I can't get a consistent high often. I don't usually accidentally change the temperature once I have set it as someone thought that was the issue earlier in the thread, its just so I can have more control what temperatures I actually use.

@OF you’re so welcomed here!

Thanks, but as a general rule I stay off Forums where I have nothing to add. Since I don't have this vape, nor have ever seen/used one, that rule applies here?

Perhaps someday I'll get one, but for now I'm basically using portables.......although I do have a nice Maple PD I haul out from time to time.

Thanks again, nice to be welcome.

U have rules?
Can’t B President then!
Like I said: da NANO is simple and @ACE OF VAPE is a nice person!
Portables R not my thing, however plug-in is CIVILIZED 4 me?

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Does anyone know of a steel mesh concentrate pad that would fit inside a nano gong?

I'm getting tired of using organic cotton. You have to keep stirring the cotton around to expose more concentrate, and little threads of cotton end up on all my dabber tools. Can anyone comment on how hemp fiber compares to cotton?

Still, some Critical Kush rosin vaped through the nano is oh so nice. I love the temp control and the full flavor of the cannabis rosin. I hadn't vaped flower in some time, but packed me a bowl of some Cheese yesterday. You can definitely tell the difference between vaping flower and concentrate. The flavor of flower vapor is more herbal and was quite enjoyable for a change. It is fun to just change things up every now and then.

I always prefer the nano, but when the weather is nice I like to carry a Fury 2 in my pocket.
