Inception & Predators

I have been on a new movie kick the past few weeks and saw Predators & Inception. Predators was pretty good, back to the Arnold days of bad ass people in the jungle. Overall pretty satisfying.

Inception was pretty awesome too. Really neat concept mixed with awesome visuals. There is a really awesome James Bond/True Lies type snow sequence that is just mind blowing. Lot's of action and a great ensemble of actors.

Both get passing grades and I am a harsh critic.

What's Going On?
I haven't seen Predators, but I can back you up on the Inception critique. I thought it was an amazing movie, but I truly had my mind blown cause I was watching it on an acid trip :uhoh:. I really enjoyed it and think that it is a good movie. I hope others share the same opinion .

Inception was a great 'concept'/'outside of the box' kind of movie. I liked it, but I didnt LOVE it.

In fact, my wife asked me if I liked it or the A-Team more. I chose A-Team - and this is coming from a guy who was totally against the A-Team movie (as I grew up with the original series) I was more than pleasantly pleased :)

I saw predators last week.... Real enjoyable sci-fi action. A suitable sequel to the first Predator movie. Robert Rodriguez wanted Predators to be a direct sequel to the first movie and wants people to forget all the other movies.
Seeing Inception tomorrow. looking forward to that.

Inception did lack a bunch of story and some other stuff too, and it is easier to be a good movie when you can put 4 or 5 movies into one.. Overall though the visuals and action made up for it.

I don't think there have been any GREAT movies in a while but both are pretty enjoyable.

I can't imagine that A-Team could be any good. I could not get over Rampage playing B.A. so I will skip it.

I thought predators could have been more violent. Fishburne plays a funny character though.

yeah I felt they were playing it safe with Predators... going with a formula that already works instead of pushing the envelope. Only introduces a few new concepts but pretty much sticks with the lore and formula of the first movie.

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. Predators follows the typical survival movie script and that is really one of the downfalls. Expands the predator universe a little, but nothing too wild.

One thing that I always question is that they make the Predators out to be so unsophisticated at times, when they are a race that has mastered interstellar travel and many technologies that take so much time, effort, and knowledge to master.

I am waiting for the predator that is like the smart gremlin from gremlins 2.

what i want to see is humans purposefully trying to find predators to hunt, instead of being abducted or stumbling onto them, and have just one predator just totally annihilate them in very genius ways....

I'm truly shocked at the response to Inception on here. I personally thought it was one of the best films I have seen. In a time where 95% of movies released are either re-makes or pure garbage, this was a breath of fresh air. Christopher Nolan in my opinion is one of the most gifted directors of our time, DiCaprio has never disappointed and I feel this was one of his best performances ever, and Hans Zimmer created another mesmerizing soundtrack.

I agree prestige is better than inception. Inception was very cool... but the story in my opinion wasn't nearly as good as the prestige.

What did DiCaprio do that was so good? In my opinion he was just being himself like he does in most movies. It wasn't like What's Eating Gilbert Grape where he plays a retarded person... or The Aviator where he is acting like Howard Hughes.

That's one knock I have on Johnny Depp. I think he is great, but ever since he did Fear and Loathing, he has taken a part of Hunter S Thompson in to pretty much most of his roles. Bill Murray said it was hard to shake it after Where the Buffalo Roam and I can see it with some of his stuff too... more so in his real life behavior though.

For me an actor really has to stretch their limits for me to think they are great. Sure Leo is the cream of the crop but not because of this role or shutter island. I would also agree that 95% of actors suck shit and I can't comprehend how they got into movies, and also 95% of movies suck. I am a VERY harsh critic and have seen tons and tons of movies
