Rosin Technique....Easy DIY Solventless

Their new Compact 20 looks really nice too, love the full width paper tray. If I needed more capability than my casual use it seems like a very solid option in its price point.
I agree....very nice unit and you cannot top NV material selection or construction.

I love that the surface of my NV plates are SS and there is pretty much no way to harm them short of using a sledge hammer. Actually, that's true of my whole Micro20 press.

Note that NV now uses Dabpress' controllers for the cartridge heaters. My Micro20 has two flat coils in each plate, each with their own thermocouple (like an enail coil TC). But, it now comes with four cartridge heaters and two separate TCs therefore only needing two control heads.

One thing I really do like about my Micro20 is the BVA hydraulics...I'm not criticizing hydros used/recommended by other manf, but the BVA stuff is Rolls Royce of hydro stuff.

The Micro20 is WAY overkill for me...I really think you could support a dispensary commercial operation with one....but, the price was WAY right (its slightly used) and it looks great bolted down to my bench in the garage (which is very important! haha).

P.S. - just earlier this month, NV posted a blog entry about their Tegridy 20 ton press using caged plates...bit less money for this item.

Here is the blog post...good reading:

Here is the press listing:

@NewVape710 - love the blog post on the Tegridy 20...very informative. Who ever wrote it, give them a raise! ;-) haha

P.S.S. - here is another great blog post from NV recently on basic considerations in rosin presses. Very informative for somebody looking to educate themselves on the considerations in selecting a rosin press.

Got in touch with Roger. He point me in the right direction and assured me that I made the right buy for what I want and need. @dabpress.com thanks for the great cs! Can’t wait to hopefully get my press by Friday. Payday :) He also threw in a free bag of 37 micron :)

Do you guys have any tips on collecting oil that is very runny from a squish and will not easily collect off of the parchment? I have come across a few that have done this too me. On the outside, everything looks frosty and smells legit. They give me a great returns from my press but the oil is not tacky like my other squishes at the same temp. Even sticking it in a freezer doesn't even help. Sad I can't collect and use this. I have feeling its a bad cure or harvested too early perhaps?

One tip is a rly cold plate out of the fridge so it basically freezes the rosin while collecting,
or I also had good results letting those sappy stuff rest for a few days in the parchment so water/terps have time to evaporate/stabilize and try to collect it in 4-5 days later.
Maybe also try even lower pressing temps but from my experience sappy stuff mostly stays sappy even at lower temp :D :p

I think I need to go try that route and let it dry out a bit. Thanks @gunmetalshark!

I'll adjust the temp a bit but I think you're right, the sappy stuff usually stays sappy no matter the temp, from my experience.

If I know this is the case with this batch, would it help any to maybe let the material sit out and air dry some before attempting to squish again? Wondering if I can do anything to the material to prepare it better in hopes of getting a less runny result.

Let the material cure/dry a bit longer maybe?
How fresh is it? How long ago was it harvested?
Do you know the level of moisture in the material?

@buckhakeesah same thing happened to me last night i basically wasted the last of my weed and idk what happened. my weed sits between 55-62 percent rh. they didnt squish like that before until last night :(

I have no idea of the history of the material. I can tell it feels moist still. I think I'll let it dry some more and then give it a go.

Yes, it's weird Z. I'm sure its a combination of factors. I didn't really like the way this one tastes so I was hoping to just squish it all. I tend to just squish the ones that don't have good terps and hope for a better product from the rosin but this one just wouldn't scrap off the parchment to get a good dab.

CBD flowers for rosin?
I never hear much about squishing CBD flowers for full-spectrum rosin, while being under the legal limit of THC.
Wouldn't that give you some high quality rosin, rich in terps etc, IF it came from high quality CBD flowers.
The CBD flowers would test out at "up to 18% CBD"---not sure what the real average % would be??

Couldn't that make preemo CBD rosin and puck residue for CBD edibles??

I've been more into CBD lately for aches pains etc so just checking out this possibility...
Thanks

So when I put 3.5 Gs in the cylinder pre mold, do I just put the puck in the bag? Don’t need to spread it around? What do I do with the corners at the bottom of the bag? Thanks all

interesting but would not be the thc level higher after pressing rosin then in the flowers at least it is a concentrate... so maybe it would not be legal (anymore) to sell... do not know? what is your opinion or am I getting something wrong... also most cbd flower I have seen which thc is under 0.3% has not more then 9 to 10 % cbd max, so the return would not be that much like pressing high thc flowers... the only cbd flowers with up to 20% cbd have more the 0.3% thc...

Been having trouble getting my hands on some dry ice, so had to just go with it and press some mixed strain untrimmed larf, 90u filter, 200F for 3 mins, 10g pre-pressed, ~1800 PSI. Had a little blowout in the middle of the bag front and rear, gonna destem next time.

Finished product is a bit weaker and not as long lasting but great flavor! 10% yield.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Just bought and tried some rosin for the first time today. I had a noob question on handling this stuff without losing terps. I picked up a gram of a local kush that was sold as a hard marble in a silicone jar. Rosin is the real deal as the flavor was excellent and a nice mellow kush high. I just didn't know the best way to mess with it to make it more easily to pull off a dab at a time. It was difficult to tear at this marble of rosin.
I was thinking of warming it somehow, then cutting it in half with my dabber and pressing half between two pieces of parchment, then refrigerating the rest for later. It takes me a long time to go through a gram of any concentrate. I use about a grain of rice each evening.

I just didn't want to make a mess and lose some of this good shit. Thanks
