TestTube Vaporizer

Abysmal Vapor

Supersniffer 2000 - robot fart detection device
Hey guys ! I want to share a DIY vaporizer design that i've been using on various occasions ,i've broken more than a few test tubes till i figure ,what is the safest way to operate and produce it.So for my current build i use two test tubes and a silicon ring.
Test tube for the bowl is 12mm/100mm 0.8mm thick and 16mm/100mm 1mm thick (I have few 16m/100mm that work too,but its 0.8mm thick )
Heater is similar to that of the gnome vaporizer :).Here is a video of operation , Can someone please tell me how to make the video visible here in the thread and not on the link, I tried to insert it as a media but no luck. Tinypic was to worked for me ,but today it crashes and these two sites dont seem to offer a way to make this happen.

Here is a gif of the second hit. Platyed a bit too long with the torch and overheated but still got brown abv.

That looks very sweet and the hit looked great!
How did you do the dimples in the top part? Super heated nail?
I have been gifted a nice torch which can run with MAPP gas,i heat the glass to its softening point and use a titanium poker tool,it is very important not to use brass, stainless or other softer metals like copper cause they stick to the glass like a stick to a lolipop. They are a little bitchy to make honestly, breakage is very common .
Important part of the creation of any glass item is the stress relief ,which is basicly slowly cooling the glass down ,a gas stove can be very helpful.. Also when making the pinches it is very important to position them apart one from other and also avoid thin ends touching on the inside.
For this particular build i have used, 16x150mm 1mm thick test tube.and 12 mm test tube for a bowl which with a regular vaporizer tubing o-ring. which makes a great seal. Some test tubes are pretty shitty quality ,they use oil when cutting so expect some of it to be on the inside or worst burned into the glass, which can make it off gas when heated,so careful for robot fart smell when heated and also clean very well with PBW before making.
Pros.
Cost 1$ ,Heating time 20-30 secs, visibility of the load, all glass
Cons. Very fragile due to the small thickness of the glass 2mm is much better. That's why i moved onto the classic Gn0me concept. It is much more durable and also user fixable if a small crack develops, unlike the test tube vape which once cracked is lost forever.
Forgot to add that to avoid breakages an alcohol lamp with a fashioned stand over it (grill style) .It is used all the time in lab environment and it is safer than butane when dealing with boro.

I mentioned earlier that i moved to the Glass joint and successfully recreating the Gn0me heaters for more than an year now. :)) Found this pics that are at least an year old and this heater is still alive. Simax FTW ! (Excuse me for the dirty glass :) )

A vape conceived in a test-tube is pretty cool...err, I mean hot.

:science:
With the GONG version ,itt is not a problem to handle with hands as long as you dont touch the hot parts. You can remove the heater before you have finished the hit and save your self the blowback particles and vapor coming in contact with the heater.

Here it is a recreation of the 14mm male Gn0me heater into 18mm :) . I think Bananiq had one of those :), works really nice. I load directly into the male joint, which i managed to polishe myself with a lot of trial and error. I have fashioned a base for the heater on which the heater stands with the gong facing upwards during heating. That way the other end is left unheated and you can still handle it with bare hands and remove it at any time from the bowl.
@BananiqLong time no see ,buddy :) ! Did you managed to get a Gn0ckoff ? :)) You can PM me if you come around i would like to gift you a couple of heaters ,i would be interested to hear your thoughts on how they compare to the originals :)).
It really make a difference if you add a 5th row/circle of dimples ,also their position. If they are in a row leaving straight corridors cleaning is a breeze but it has a greater heat transfer when the dimples are positioned randomly creating a maze. Anyway this one has only 4 row of dimples and are positioned straight i works really good with my big torch. I like it because it is impossible to combust ,unless you dont draw really anorexic.

Here is special bowl ,which is specially made for observing herb while vaporization and also for larger amounts. It is a real beauty made by a local glass glower, who sadly is ultra busy and works with a month of back order... Anyway here is how polishing looks when done by a real pro.(ripped me bloody 12 euro per piece) :)

Next think on the bowl development i will try to make pinches like these.

Hey @Abysmal Vapor!
I wasn't on FC for long time (you know, was happy with my UD - until my exGF threw all of my vapes away lol) and just found this thread of yours, its amazing! To answer your earlier question I had ordered 2 male gn0ckoff heaters from davesmith in 2016 and cracked them soon afterwards.

I am so happy to see gn0me design rocking and you did not gave up on idea. I was also surprised to find out about ELEV8R and XL8R which look gn0me-inspired as well, but I like your design most as it reminds me original Calen's. So how is your research progressed - is 4 or 5 row of dimples better? the pinched bowl looks amazing!

@Bananiq
Well we already discussed this partly in a PM,but i will mention it for the benefit of the communityu, more dimples = better performance . Spacing and the overall architecture and also anneling are crucial to the durability of the heater,i broke more than a few learning this shit..
I havent made any pinched bowls yet,but i will get down to it once a locate another source for adapters :).
I am really glad that you decided to try them,i definetly think that the 18.8 >14mm versions :).The OG gong gnome was 14.4 for the record.

Ungrounded Female 19/26, with 19/22 clear jointed flame polished adapter. Male heater with what i call Abysmal Bowl or Deepdish bowl ,it works great for microdosing too :))(this is my favorite bowl i use it with most of my vapes,it is also 19/22 and flame polished by me also. Then another male heater with Aquarium bowl(lol) that was made by a local scientific glass blower ,has ungrounded see trough joints and spacing between the joints is 30mx30mm.
