The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

Well we can start my countdown timer on however many years until I'm annoyed with my dying battery options. My BF Mighty from PuffItUp just arrived and I enjoyed my first few sessions.

A design with all the looks and savoir faire of an eighties walkie talkie too. I can't say that I look forward to cleaning it. I can say that the draw resistance is on point and the two sativa hybrids I've tried so far were smooth and flavorful. The cherry diesel was perhaps too fine and clogged the dosing capsule a bit. The orangeade capsule was a medium grind and kept its flavor for a respectable length of time.

I used it before bothering to switch it to Fahrenheit and didn't realize what temp the heater was at and had a good experience in what turned out to be the 340 to 355 range.

I'm gonna take inspiration from the Mighty and run my Fierce at lower temps than I had previous.

Hopefully you'll get many years out of your battery.

If you stick with the capsules you won't have to clean it often. I removed the screen on the cooling unit, dont use it all all, and clean the hole where vapor goes with a alcohol prep pad maybe weekly. About 4-6 weeks I take the cooling unit apart, remove the o rings, and soak the unit in iso in a zip lock, that I heat in hot water. The warm iso works very well and is quick. The o rings just need a quick soak. Then I rinse everything in water and reassemble when it's dry.

I use ours at about 360F to about 380F. But it's strain and moisture dependent, and the pack or grind makes slightly less difference. One technique we like is to start at say 370 and when it starts hitting well we back down the temps to 360 for a cooler more flavorable vapor. For vaping rosin using the liquid capsules I max out the temp for the whole session.

Hi all. I'm interested in grabbing a Mighty and was wondering where I should look for the best price on a unit, stand and dosing capsules. I see that Puff It Up has a 15% discount going and includes the stand, so $296 without dosing capsules. Definitely want to make sure that I'm not getting an old unit, though.

Where to buy this beast?

EDIT: Pulled the trigger via PiU! Any initial beginner tips for this vape?
Just got one from them and am very happy with both the company and the product! Definitely factory fresh unit and lots of throw in's. Especially like the free stand. Protects the cooling fins and makes loading easy. I have had Pax 2, Dreamwood, and SB OG and the Mighty beats them all. Hoping I can make mine last by taking good care of it. Will follow up on tip to get jewelery ultra Sonic unit for CU cleaning. Highly likely you will be happy with a Mighty...

Ive had mine now for ages. The warranty has expired. The batteries are very bad. S&B refuse to tell me how to change them. They just say warrenty ended we can offer you to buy a new unit !!!!! grrrrrr . Any one know how to open the mighty ?

Ok so not saying this is usual but my unit died about a year ago . I sent it in for repair warranty knowing my warranty was well past due . I sent original receipt with unit. I expected to pay something but was just sent back a full new unit factory sealed . I did pay the original $469.99 price though so maybe they felt sorry for me lol

Got my Mighty+Crafty... just going to charge them now. How do I do the initial burn off? Just fire them up empty?

edit: mighty and crafty showing full charge out of box... it ok to just start using them?

I’m someone who notices plastic odors and taste so I cleaned my new unit with a wipe down inside the cooling unit and two ABV runs. Let it cool down and loaded up the dosing capsule and all was good!

Mighty's clone, the Mighty Medic, is an approved medical device (in Germany) and I believe S&B applies virtually the same standards in production of their other vapes. They don't call for any burnoff in the manual, so I believe it would only be for purpose of removing some of the 'new mighty smell', of which there's very little and it's gone after a couple of bowls.
Just enjoy the things. Purchasing one of each at the same time is major commitment!

I had my Mighty initially warming up to 210°C and decided to take the CU off to try the stock plastic mouthpiece again (I like the glass one I got from PIU but it's not super secure).

Anyway, just as I was lowering the temp I could see puffs of vapor coming out of the inserted dosing capsule as if the unit had a little bellows and somebody was pumping little breaths of air through it. Is there a fair amount of conduction with the Mighty? Would the conduction alone explain the smoke signals of vapor puffing off the capsule holes?

Second topic is about extraction and efficiency: more than any of my other vapes, the Mighty produces vapor readily even at low temps and then before long the capsule is just spent and produces little to no vapor even if I crank the temp up.

I only received my Mighty on Friday so it's all new to me. What I'm used to with my other vapes is a curve of vapor production without such a pronounced drop off.

The big fluffy clouds are easy and fun and my unit works well. I'm just curious what folks are experiencing and how best to find the sweet spot of enjoyable vapor quality and efficient extraction. The abv in the capsules look great, it's just that I can't temp step the way I'm used to because 1) the Mighty only goes to 410°F, and 2) the low temps seem to get all the vapor the cap has in short order.

To put it another way, it's like the Mighty can cook/vape a capsule to fully spent at lower temps and then there's no vapor to give me the recreational cannabinoids that are supposed to require higher temps.

I step from 365 to 385 then to 410 and usually get vapor from all temps. But yes, it does get lighter at higher temps if you spend longer at lower temps.

My sessions usually last 10-15 mins...i do get different results at times and im still experimenting to see what is causing differences.

Yes, the Mighty can extract a whole bowl at very low temps. It also "hit's a wall" so to speak, in that you know when it's done! So look for your sweet spot, and ramp up the temps a little quicker if you want the higher temp cannabinoids. Not sure why you would ever go about 410. Most vapes suck at low temps, and have more life at the end. The Mighty is the opposite. Enjoy!

The mighty is a hybrid vape so there is conduction as the bowl heats, and since you draw in heated air, there's also convection.

We are partial to low temp vaping, so ymmv, but I doubt we're missing much in cannabinoids at the lower temps. And we really like how the cooling unit cools the vapor.

I think there is a vapor/time/ heat curve but it's less pronounced than most other vapes. To me the complete extraction and smooth tastes are from great engineering. It's obvious this vape was well thought out before release.

My Mighty may have been my best purchase in a few years. Daily driver. I rarely use my volcano which I got around the same time.

Its so easy to use. I probably vape about 5 full loads a day and only have to clean it every couple of weeks. And i have 2 CU so i just rotate them out.

The vapor is great. Tastes great. I love sipping at 365F. Cant say enough good things about this thing.

Sorry for the ramble but my I’m currently on my couch with Mighty in hand and im stoned. I was. A heavy BLUNT smoker for years and joints were the minimum...but I can proudly say the Mighty has led to 90% less combustion for me.

this will vary, depending on the strain, age of the weed, and grind. IME some strains aren't done until I max out the temp, and others do what you describe: lots of clouds/flavor @ mid-temps, then nothing (except nasty-tasting hits) at high temps.

I'm just curious what folks are experiencing and how best to find the sweet spot of enjoyable vapor quality and efficient extraction

I start low (165ºC), usually get 2 tasty-but-cloudless hits, then step up the temp, usually 5º at a time, 2 hits @ each step. that sweet spot you describe (flavor + clouds) usually happens in the 175-185ºC range. I usually stay there for 3-4 hits - as long as there's clouds. depending on the weed, there might be more not-nasty-tasting clouds at higher temps - or not.

the low temps seem to get all the vapor the cap has in short order

I don't use the capsules, but people say they add a little conduction, so that makes sense.

the mighty's known for cool vapor, so you might try staying at lower temperatures a bit longer. those low-temp hits feel like nothing happened until you exhale: then it's pure flavor (and psychoactive).

makes sense - like putting the liquid pad on top of a smaller load.
Along these lines, and another way to try, yesterday I used a capsule -- empty, with a lid on it -- atop a micro dose (at least that's what I'd call it, I have no idea of the weight of it). I was concerned about creating pressure against the c/u and consequently the housing, so I did use a very small amount, then plopped the empty capsule in. When finished (like 2 or 3 pulls at 190C) it was well spent and flattened out to about 1/16" inch thick. I had to poke it once to crumble it so it would fall out. I found it to be a nice adaptation for a small, quick session. Heat up time (and a little added heat soak time) was the worst but, then, Mighty's 3 years old now...and I've grown accustomed to Grasshopper time.

I used to use the top-screen (Pac-man cut) often, but usually had to pick that out with something. And it was hard sometimes to keep track of that screen. I've always found that at some point the oils pads are too much hassle to clean, so I throw them out.

Has anyone settled on a tried and true weekly/bi-weekly cleaning method for the device as a whole? I've had my Mighty for about a month and the cooling unit most certainly appears in need of a clean. The oven is still in pretty good shape, although some dander has fallen through the side and general stickiness ensues around/inside the bowl that I would like to address.

I'm usually a big proponent of iso soaking glass/metal components, but curious with this vape given the presence of plastic and how that might be affected by such a solvent. Tips/tricks?

Cleaning tip starts with the recommendation of getting extra cu’s. It will really simplify your life.

I found the easiest way to clean the cu is to take it apart (only by separating the 2 halves), and giving it an iso soak.

Based on advice here, I drop the cu parts into a baggie with enough iso to submerge them. I drop this baggie into a glass of VERY hot water. It only needs to soak 10-15 minutes. Rinse in water and let dry. You’ll end up with like new cu’s.

Enjoy!

The consensus on this thread seems to be that this the easiest and quickest way to clean your CU. Some people like to remove the hologram lock to prevent discolouration and I have also noticed in some updated
cleaning videos that they recommend not soaking the o-rings (just wipe them over).

Just going off topic I am just wondering how much are people paying for ISO? Here in OZ its about
A$20 per 500ml (U.S $15 per pint?) from the major hardware chain which seems expensive.
