@modmyvape, I stand corrected. FJ doesn't say it specifically supports the Dual, but AF does.
You can always email FJ & ask.

Try the downloaded procedure on this above:

@Hippie, it's the Gen 3 Dual that @modmyvape has. The Gen 3 is compatible with both FJ, but the Gen 3 Dual is not listed.

@FMSQ, only vapefiend has 19/19mm wpas. RBT was supposed to receive some for sale from VF, but I don't think he ever did, specifically because I think it would have been mentioned on the thread 'cause you're not the only one waiting. You can email info@rastabuddhatao.com & ask when they will be getting them in. Worst comes to worse, if you are in the States, you can have one made by Oregon Glass Blowers. Google for website.

@Armitage: you need to improve your kung-fu little beetle!

:hmm:

@Armitage, what grind, what mode (wattage/tcr), what temp/wattage, dry or through water?

@Armitage im in the same boat as you, had the splinter for a while now, tried different packs, grinds, tcrs and wattages and mods (dna and wismec) dry and through water, all iv got so far are wispy clouds and a scratchy throat! Looking forward to hearing the advice, as i really want to like this thing!

Do you guys have your screen fully covered with plant material? Zero holes for air to pass through?

Also @Megaton is yours a 4 holes version too?

It's really strange, RBT vapes can produce massive clouds, there must be some explanation.

Hi not sure as at work so don’t have it with me but will look when I get in . Is it best to pack very loose then ?

For me at least, it's more the opposite. I get better results with a tamped load, helps me slow down my draw by creating enough restriction. But I've never had any success if there were holes in the load, the air just takes the path of least resistance and circumvent the material, without getting a chance of vaporizing anything... so you end up with a lot of hot air (the dreadful "sucking on a hair dryer" effect)

@KeroZen, RBT uses his 4-holes through water so he revs the temp us to 50 I believe & does a long deep, strong draw. Then he adjusts the temp accordingly.

@Armitage, I'm not very good at this, but until someone more knowledgeable replies, I would initially suggest taping over 2 holes & see how much more vapor you get & if nec. tape over 3 holes. 40 watts may be too high with the holes closed so if necessary drop down to like 32 watts & go up from there. Just try it & report back.

As far as tamping your load, try one basket with a very light tamp & another with a firmer tamp.

@AJS sometimes preheats for about 6 seconds for the 1st bowl from a cold start.

BTW, what mod are you using?

@KeroZen mine is a two hole. Tried full loads and emptier loads, always covering the screen. Kind of drop the material in and tamp it in a similar way that has always been successful with my logs. So far finding that less is more, but maybe thats because i can cash the load before my throat starts hurting too much to continuem

Currentely using Herbie's profile from dna share.

Easywider

Simple is the way
For clouds, I go with a fine grind, tamped just enough so nothing falls out of the stem. Im using Herbie's profile on a Wismec DNA 250. Temp 485-525f with 5 seconds preheats. Extraction could be compared to a functioning grasshopper. 2-3hits to cache a stem. Before the DNA I had the same experience ( although vapour not nearly as smooth ) With TCR 182 , 55W, 450F.

I've been pulsing my breath lately and I feel like it's helping keep the heat in the material and off the back of my convection ravaged throat. It's seem to pull larger clouds with less effort and much less irritation.

hey,

i just bought a splinter two weeks ago or so. and had similar results with the original mouthpiece. hardly any vapor, too much hot air, irritated throat, etc.. but then i bought the "cooling mouthpiece" offered by vapefiend. and what can i say. i works. great clouds, not too hot, just great. the mouthpiece itself seems fragile and easy to break from the looks of it and is hard to clean because of its build. but i does the job well. yesterday, after exlusively using the cooling mouthpiece for 2 weeks, i wanted to try the original one because i thought i had the splinter figured out. but wrong. same results as at first try. hardly any vapor, just hot air irritating my throat, so i went back unsing the cooling mouthpiece. i suspect the bigger airflow to be the prblem, because the cooling mouthpiece restricts airflow. i just love the splinter, but the mouthpiece-situation is not satisfying at all to me. the original one gets too hot, and the vapefiend one is too fragile. i'd really like to have something made out of wood, or the RBT Cooling mouthpiece. but it's not available in here right now.

p.s. i use RX Gen3(not dual) and ArticFox FW in Wattage Mode @27-37Watt

So big thanks to @duff who gave me some sage advice.

I managed to 'hoover' some herb up into the basket (fancy that, it worked first time!) Then set to wattage at 30w, moving through to 35w and 40w respectively as vapor dropped off.

Way less harsh on the throat (more of a chest hit) and good clouds. Nice looking avb.

I shall call it a fresh start with the Splinter, much more experimenting is needed! :science:

Very well may be. I think the 4-holes is best suited for higher temp w/ water usage.

*If anyone posts, don't forget to state whether you have 2 or 4 holes for reference. I think few 4-hole Splinters are out in the wild as only the 2 holes came out with the initial release. If I recall correctly, when the Splinter Z was released is when the 4 holes came into existence. So the initial Splinter buyers only had the 2 holes & many subsequent buyers went with the Splinter Z where both the 2 & 4 holes have been popular.

4 holes checking in. 45 watts, 5 second preheat, and a nice slow draw are getting me huge delicious clouds. This thing is amazing.

I got a 4 hole mainly because I didn’t know which would suit me better , it’s not something you can go to the store and try so thought if I get a 4 hole I could always get a silicone vape band , put 2 holes in it and just have 2 open . Options innit .
