Flowermate’s Slick

Just got the email from POTV:

Flowermate’s newest vape is almost here, a dry herb-pen style vaporizer called the Slick. This discreet vape is shaped like an oversized pen with a carbon fiber finish and magnetic mouthpiece cover. At the attractive price point of $79.95, you get solid features and excellent battery life in a compact housing. We got our hands on an early production unit, and in our latest blog we share with you our first impressions about this new vape. The Slick is slated for release around October 15.

The link below is the blog from our very own @stickstones

I'm a fan of the pens like the Xmax V2 Pro and the Focus. Tried this new "slick" and IMO it's a better choice. Smaller, way cooler looking, hits better and didn't get as hot. Waiting for the production version to come out.....this one is more "mainstream" looking and is a better option if used outside in the open.

Can someone post pics of the bowl? Is it stainless steel or ceramic? How's the airflow? Restrictive or open?

After my attempt at buying: "a crafty with removable batteries". (Vivant Alternate) ended on a poor note I never looked anything on the bottom of price list as a possibility.

For some reason, I am really interested in this one.

My bad it was 15% so 68$ you did good. Puff it up throws in the grinder and case plus candy tho haha
No biggie , I always use puffitup when I can but when I had looked a few days ago it was not available there so I just went with the link a few posts up. At least it comes with a tight vac and a crappy grinder lol .

Curious to hear your thoughts. Just saw this yesterday and it’s very intriguing

So on potv site it says this conduction. On puffin ups it says it’s convection heavy. Can anyone confirm the correct answer?

IMO it's a conduction vape with a slight bit of convection. Not even enough convection to call it a true hybrid.

Flowermate has used a passive spiral (a metal spiral just below the oven that isn't directly heated) ever since Boundless came up with one in the CFC. I found it in the Nano, and there is one in the Slick, but it's as small as I've ever seen. The one in the Slick is so small it can't possibly do anything.

I didn't drop a temp probe in the oven yet, but there appears to be no attempt at convection. It's a re-purposed V5.0S with no mention of convection on the box. Conduction all day with this one.

It's a solid conduction vape, which isn't my style, but you could do a lot worse. Flowermate has this tech down now and their vapes are some of the best entry level vapes around, and the Slick at $80 epitomizes that. If I were new to vaping, tied to a budget under $100, or just wanted something I could leave behind on a trip, I'd probably grab a Slick.

Anybody out there with some more impressions of this thing?

I'm torn between this and the Xmax Starry as my cheap conduction backup. Lots of info on the Starry but not much out there on the slick.

I've only tried the Slick once. My initial reaction was that it was better than my other pen vapes in terms of taste, look and feel (See my signature for pen vapes I've used). I didn't spend enough time with the Slick to get a feel for longevity, battery life, etc.

I have spent a bunch of time with the Starry so I know the good and bad points. I haven't spent enough time with the Slick to have gotten to the bad points that get exposed with time.

For what it's worth.....with my limited exposure to the Slick....I'd go with the Slick.

Glad you used the term "backup conduction" vape because IMO neither the Starry or the Slick would fit as a daily driver.

Thanks for the feedback!

Surely I'm just overthinking the purchase of a $70usd vape and should just jump in lol.

It will most definitely be a backup to my MV1 and Extreme-Q although I was going to use it as my "session" vape for the odd time I'm with friends and we can't use the Dekstop vape inside for whatever reason. In your brief experience with it, would you say it would suffice as a session vape?

It has a fairly large bowl at 0.4g at least.

Could it be used as a occasional session vape with friends? I think so. "Occasional" being the key word.

How many friends are we talking about  .... I think it would work well for up to 3 users in a session depending on how good the herb, how it is packed and what charge level the battery is at. It would probably require each user wait a couple seconds between pulls so the oven isn't over-run heat wise. It is a conduction vape after all.

I wish I had more time with it so I had a better understanding of the battery life, how easy or hard it is to over-run the oven, etc.
