@Ed's TnT Many thanks. Forstner bits are my next purchase and probably some more round files.

Another step closer to finishing the Coconut IH.
Spalted Tamarind base and top.
There is a small piece of acrylic in the centre of the top piece which may get an LED fitted into it as a power 'on' indicator.

Nice one. I have made 4 Halo-coconuts that are doing fine at friends houses for weeks .I really like how well it handles the heat eveb without reflector ,even though they arent the most comfartable shape when paired with wp :). My daily driver is actually one that is unpolished ,i really like the natural feeling in hand :). I am trying to learn how to carve them, because they make wonderful lamps that make shadow patterns on the walls, but sofar i have lots of breackage issues, cause most of the coconuts i had, were with weakspots/thin walled at places. It would be a dream if i manage to master it to the level below and make halo-logs/nuts like these. It is nice to see that someone else had the idea of making vaporizer/vaporizer accessory from coconuts, the Ital Chalice is pioneer of the idea,it is fun to look at,check it out if you dont know it :).

Found a UK company that has a good range of cuticle tools for those amongst us that like our nails to look their best.
It doesn't quite fit in a VC bowl but that can be fixed.
Padauk which over time changes from the freshly turned bright red and orange to a rich burgundy.

Dear @phattpiggie

I just love how you can make me want something that I didn’t know existed a minute ago, with just one picture. Well done! Seems to me like your photography game is on another level too these days. No wonder you’re staying so busy with a range of projects lately.

What you’re able to do with wood is just short of magical (imo) and you’re always so humble about it all.
I have really learned a lot about timber in this thread, you need your own weekly YouTube show.
EDIT: Phattpiggies Wood Show OR Timber Talk with Phattpiggie

Cheers for the feedback @Padriano and thanks for the opportunity to play with the Tubo.

@almostthere for the last two years I've had the same reoccurring phrases going thru my mind.
'I need to try that' or 'I wonder how I'm going to go about this' or 'When I get time I'm making one of those'.
Plenty of ideas to come it's just going to be slowly.

Some days you get lucky, others you don't.
I've tried a couple of times and succeeded in drilling the regular size blanks for cigar cases. I've also wasted a few bits of wood as the 21mm drill bit has wandered thru the side wall or the blank split.
Won't have any problems with this blank, 1.5" square by 18" long.
20181013-133658.jpg

Step one, out of many, done as I've been prepping for a group of stems. The Bocote get cut in half, the BW gets cherry picked for inch long pieces for MP's or interesting segments.

. Thanks sir for your explanation of your thought process, and the description of blank preparations. Very illuminating to see the workings of a fine craftsman

The lengths of BW get partially parted off with a homemade skinny tool.
If you cut right thru they end up spinning off all over the place so I do the final cut with a saw.
The cases need big holes drilling. The final size is 21mm, you can see this 20mm jumping around a bit before it lines itself up with the previously drilled 12mm hole.

@phattpiggie exactly what will the cases you’re turning above be for? I must have missed something, I haven’t been too clever this week. I absolutely hate taking painkillers but sometimes you gotta do it. I’m sure happy to see that you’re doing so much work in Bocote as it’s in my top 3 favourite species. Thanks for sharing and showing us how ya do it! I have this mental image of you dancing and dipping like James Brown while you’re turning now, even if you’re not really just let me have this one.

@pxl_jockey two of them are for open twists.
I think I'll be attempting a Bog Oak twist with another along with some other pieces of Twisted BO.
Going to have one arm like Popeye by the time I've done them all.

People have been contacting me about getting on the next list.
I've got a few things left from the current round to pull together and as I'm going to be doing things differently this time around I'm not really ending an old or starting a new list.
Have a watch of this video that I was sent and you'll get an idea of how I'm going to try things for a bit.

I'll explain as best I can why I'm taking this route tomorrow.

Finished Tubox, Scottish Yew and Elm.

The triple helix open twist had another visit from the file, I exposed more of the glass and took the twist further along the body.
20181004_163109.jpg

Also had these cigar tubes turn up, I can cut them down or add extra length to them as I please.
As and when time and funds become available I will be getting a revised drawing of the coupling together for the CNC shop.

This is so pretty I jumped over to the tubo thread to make sure you posted it there.

Beautiful work as always.

Thank you @StormyPinkness it was nice to work on something different and I'm looking forward to hearing some feedback as it should be landing with @funkyjunky soon.

Sodding phone has a mind of it's own sometimes. No idea why it's doing it but it's bloody frustrating.

As much as it's been a great two and a bit years at times it's been more frustrating than my phone.
I've been let down and buggered around on too many occasions and it's taken a bit of sparkle out of the whole thing.

Now I know that we all have lives outside of the weed world and shit happens sometimes but when people ask me to make them a piece and as soon as it's done they disappear into the internet ether it's annoying.
I can always sell the piece but it's more about the wasted time than anything else.

Or someone will ask me to hold onto a piece that I've made outside of orders, which I've been happy to do, and they bugger off.
Whilst I've been holding these pieces I've missed out on a possible sale to someone else who's enquired about them.

Things have to change and I'll be giving Mr Knights method a whirl for a while, it may not work out but I have to try.
Anyone I'm working on pieces for at the moment please disregard the following this does not effect you.

From today I no longer run a list system.
If you want a piece making feel free to contact me and I'll see what I can do.

I will be doing an order for a US online retailer and there will be another drop of stems with The Hedonist Club over here in the UK at some point.

To weed out the tyre kickers and time wasters I now require payment in full before I start anything, this won't be like a pre order and wait forever situation you only pay me when I start.
Hagglers are welcome but you'll find that I don't play that game.

I will be making stems and IH enclosures which unless I say otherwise will be available for purchase.
They will be sold to whomever pays for them first, I no longer hold pieces for anyone.

There is plenty of stuff I've been asked to work on other than stems and there's always stuff I'm doing just for shits and giggles.
Plus I know you good people all love a bit of woodporn so I'm going to be posting pics and video here just the same as I have done in the past.

The CNC shop has been in touch and if he's managed to stay on course I'll be restocked with Ti HE's and inserts in the next week.
I'm really looking forward to getting the bit between my teeth again and getting some stuff turned that I know has been well received and enquired about all the time.

As I say unless I say otherwise everything I post about is for sale, PM me if you like it.

All my IH enclosures will be built around @Pipes tried and tested set up and come to pieces easily if needs be.
The Coconut and Spalted Tamarind is up and running, LED power on indicator helps locate the glass tube when used in low light. Amazing how smooth the hairy shell is now.

Forgot to say it's the local turning association annual do on Sunday so I'll be in a village hall full of grey haired old men

Good choice. Nothing worse than time wasters and shit talkers.

Stuff is ready for collection with the CNC shop so to celebrate I turned myself a new stem.

All Indian Summer acrylic body, Ti insert and full length SS condenser keeping the vapor path clean and if needs be the whole thing can cope with a dunk in Iso.

Had some African Blackwood in a while ago and after roughing this one out it went in the 'Wait 'til you know what you're gonna do with it' pile.
I haven't done any inlay work since the Dobby and @Squiby sent me over some stone befitting the wood so it was game on.
The last blank with any purple was a lot fainter and as soon as the wax hit the surface it was gone.
Not this time, purple dust on everything
20181024-153047.jpg

And because it a practice piece for the same idea in a couple of woods it had to get squared
20181024-155648.jpg

Turquoise is 5-6 on the hardness scale, amethyst is 7 so a little harder.
