However, if I'm on a dry stem TC feels more "diluted", I'll get the same amount of vapor eventually but it takes longer inhales.

With VW we're flirting with combustion, so it's full-bodied nearly all the time, or at least every-time we over-indulge. With TC you need to bump the temperature up at the end of the bowl to get the same effect.

But if you bump it too soon, I find you can spoil the taste a bit too fast. So it's best to do nearly all the session at a slightly lower temperature (but still high) and just bump for the finish once all taste is already practically gone.

I go back and forth between TC and VW with the splinter, I don't think I can settle on just using in it in one method. I love the instant thick vapor when using the VW mode but it's not ideal for water filtration where charring is a risk. However if I'm on a dry stem TC feels more "diluted", I'll get the same amount of vapor eventually but it takes longer inhales. I love TC mode for when I joint pack .5g and ride the trigger till the cows come home and not have a care in the world with regards to scorching the load.

Quick suggestion you can try. Under mod tab there's a safety tab. Lower the max temperature to around 440 it will cut off wattage when hits that temperature even well in wattage mod. I don't use wattage mode but think btw wattage and using a temperature cutoff could see working well using water filtration.

Awesome!!! That’s such a fantastic tip, I was always looking at that and just couldn’t put it together:D. Suddenly all my 510 heaters just got a little more interesting:nod:

@Easywider did you pick up that wismec from Vapesourcing? I’m still debating about that, seems like I’ve been spending so much money:cuss:. Anyway.....that reuleaux has been sitting in the cart for 2 days, we’ll see if I make it pass tomorrow :uhoh:

@KeroZen I do temp step on TC but there are mornings where I can’t be bothered

@almost there I sure did, it arrived quicker then I thought it would. The bronze finish looks good paired with the splinter, and I'm really liking the weight of the 3 battery MOD. Running @HerbieVonVapster FCShare file, set up was a breeze my temp range seems a little wacky though I can get vapor at 380f but need to go up to 550f to finish a stem.

What's is the the resistance value of coil reading?

Both the DNA and DNAc Splinter profiles are ready. Please load these profiles well the Splinter is cold. They should force a remeasure of the coil. Let me know if you have any issue with these files.

Herbie, thanks again for your selfless efforts for the community:clap:

But don't you think it would make sense to create an own - one-post -thread about WITHOUT the possibility to reply?

HvV's sw mods (DNA/c, sur_evic, Arctic Fox) for 510 dry herb attys

Just a summary of all important points regarding your different sw mods which you can update if necessary every time?
All your important info in different threads are sinking in the mass of other posts meanwhile. It's really a pity.
BTW I think it would spare a lot of time and work for yourself.

hey Herbie, I noticed you use different coil materials for your splinter/Z and iHeat profiles in your DNA regular vs DNAcolor files, the material curves seems a bit different also, which is the more updated version? I got quite use to seeing that paranormal ghost so I had to retrieve that theme after downloading the recent update, lol.

BTW- the VW max temp cut off is only available in the DNAc, couldn't find it in Escribe for the DNA250

@HerbieVonVapster will i be able to use the dna75/250 profiles on my dna200?

Thanks again for the work you've put in to share these with everyone!

Edit: i loaded it up and no errors! Seems to do the trick, though cant properly test it out till toight.

Glad it worked I suggest to add the new Splinter profile since I haven't updated them in that download. Also under mod tab is battery tab you can change it to a 2 cell there. Make sure your in manufacture mode. Have most major battery cvs if you like can toss a copy up for download.

Every thing has been update today except for stempodDNA and the DNA file. Waiting to finish stempod profile before updating it the DNA file. I would suggest using the separate profiles for now.

The DNA and DNAc each respond a little differently even with same coil. Reason there is 8 profiles is due that this.

On the ghost you can also save the ghost as wallpaper and use in another theme. Guess can add it back on for halloween.

.
@HerbieVonVapster resistance value of coil is 0.248. I’ll try loading the file again. Even though I’m running cold the dna is still an improvement. Smoother vapor, I seem to be getting larger hits with less irritation and no more hot spotting. As @Hogni said, thank you for your efforts in taking our vaping experience to higher levels

Try using the separate profile download SplinterDNA. If still having issue try locking the OHM at 0.248 see if it helps. You may need to also increase the OHM lock range. Try 30%.

Make sure resistance is done when coil is room temp. Not sure if I mentioned it, If it wasn't please remeasure coil.

I'v tried a few configurations now, and im just finding the Splinter unpleasently harsh.

Is the only way to combat this via the (expensive) xl8r stem or vapefiends (hard to clean looking) cooling stem?

Tried through water with vapefiends whip adapter into another whip adapter into my water piece and the results were rather lacklustre. Managed to get a couple of whispy hits but gave up eventually and finished the bowls off with another vape.

Are other people comfortably using the stock stem? I dont think of myself having a particularly sensitive throat.

I don't really have any problems with harshness, and my throat aint what it used to be thanks to my miss spent youth and all the nasty bongs :puke:
But at 195c I can pull till the cows come home and get really nice clouds for days. At 210c it can get hot but I don't need to head that high straight up, through water though 210/215c and its pretty wow.
I'm just loving TC and feel it's a massive reason to get one of these.

I have a sensitive throat & can't use the Splinter or Z with the long stock stem, but have no problem using w/ the XL8r stem. I also have a XL8r jr. stem which also works well, but not as well as the longer stem. I also rigged up my own stem with a Grav mp which also works well for me. But, I like it best through water. I don't use a whip, just a wpa. I use strictly wattage: 36 - 38W tops dry & 38 - 40 watts tops through water. I know it's expensive, but the long cooling stem will make a huge difference is vapor smoothness. Look, if you buy it & you're still not happy, then you can always sell one or the other or both.

Also, don't forget that some strains are harsher than others & that could be a factor.

The Splinter is / can be quite harsh but i manage to use it with the stock stem.

For me, the best tech i found till now is useing Wattage mode at 42w on my mod, preheat before drawing for around three seconds, then draw until i feel the heat in my throat, release the button and keep drawing...

YMMV, just my :2c:

Have a great day!

I find the stock splinter stem to be the most harsh out of all the stems i've tried in the splinter. I used it for about a week and had to stop as my throat would be raw by end of the day. I just started using it again this week when I got my DNA mod as the vapor seem so much smoother.

@HerbieVonVapster I tried the separate profile download SplinterDNA. With the coil locked @ 0.023 it made the vape hotter but I'm still around 550f ( compared to 570f unlocked @ 0.0248 ) I really don't mind as the vapour is so smooth my eyes often bulge out of my head when I exhale as I'm shocked with the amount of vapour I get without even feeling the throat heat.

I'm also convinced that the stem is heat soaking better allowing me to get more hits per sessions (since im not just scorching the bottom and leaving goodies at the top ) and the flavour is lasting longer.

Here's a stem finished @550f No stirring, no rotating on purpose:

This is so baffling :hmm:, I downloaded the update for the DNA 250 yesterday and I get wonderful results at 365F without making any changes on my Therion 166. Anyway if all goes well i’ll Have a reuleaux to play with too in a week and we can compare notes.

I finally was able to get the software from @funkyjunky installed on a couple of mods.

I want to run the Tubo shareware so I can have cruise control, but it requires a resistance number. @funkyjunky gives those numbers with a Tubo Evic, Dual or TUBOx, how do I find the right settings for my Splinter and Splinter Z?

That's the cold resistance reading (mod and splinter at room temperature).
You can adjust and lock the resistance reading by opening the menu > coils > manage > tubo
You'll probably also need to adjust the TCR setting in the menu too, under Coils > Tubo set > M1 , I think I'm in the 170 region at the moment (vaping at about 190 C)
Then cycle through the modes until it says Tubo at the top to use the M1 TCR setting.

@almost there ahh nice! you pulled the trigger on the deal, MAS is real :D I'm baffled myself, I'm no expert but I'm not new either :myday: The only thing I changed in either profiles is pre-heat and regular wattage I bumped up 5 degrees each as I tend to have a strong draw. I really don't mind there just numbers and this is my best experience with the splinter yet. Yesterday was a monumental day for cannabis in my country and the splinter was my DD all day and night. Didn't even touch my FP or Bangers.

The AVB in @Easywider pic look good . Sounds like it's only the Temps being being low for him and not effecting the performance once raised.

Testing a splinterZ 4 hole against a Z 2 hole today. Will let you know if see a difference on temperature between these 2 splinterZ. Right now I'm a little stumped since sounds like profiles are working just a wide difference of temps that needs to be entered?

Yes it was! A big congrats to Canada for making it happen:clap: Hopefully it paves the way for federal changes here in the USA.
