Discontinued Ghost MV1

i read some complaints about battery life being subpar on the mv1, something about when there is half a charge left, performance suffers. im guessing this has to do with the voltage drop reducing power to the heater.

is this still an issue with the updated models... or was it never even an issue in the first place?

As far as I can tell this is fixed. In my instagram livestream last night I vaped 5 crucibles in a row without overheating. Afterwards I vaped 2 more crucibles throughout the night. There's not really a noticeable decline in power until the very last crucible.

Also without getting into a complicated quote, I'd like to reiterate what @Summer stated.
Ghost did a fantastic job working through all of the issues with this vape and the result is something special.

I'm excited to re-review again!

I've been eyeing the MV1 for awhile, just was really not a fan of the shiny finish. I definitely like the matte black.

Too bad I have insufficient permissions or whatever to post on the contest thread.

I have two with all the updates except the firmware, love them both! Two extra heat sink assembly’s, three batteries, 3 crushable magazines. Love them both. Going to upgrade one to stealth and have a shiny nickel and a bat black one.
Aha, you got three of those magazines? Nice man, I thought it was overkill when I bought a second one. I never regretted it though after the fact. Over the summer I found myself continuously filling up the two and they'd last me two to three days at a time depending on where I was at. Super convenient. I'll be doing the same with the trade in. Ghost donating those vapes to a great cause is admirable, that's a really awesome thing to do. I really want that Darth Vape, trade my chrome in for that one, keep my Goldie. Yeahhh!

FWIW.....My unit is almost a month old. I find that the power is pretty consistent until the last 1 or 2 crucibles....but then you just throw on your freshly charged battery and carry on......

@ghostvapesofficial, is the color on the Stealth Black throughout the finish or just on the surface so if it's scratched the bare silver metal underneath will be explosed? And can't you find out if Vapefiend will carry the bundle? Thanks.

I want to see your review, too. Does it still make the same noise when using?? I remember that from your review and I HATE these noises. I stopped using my Solo1 because of a slight buzz like that.

@jardri, VapeCritic said in his stream yesterday that GV toned down the whistle/squeal/buzz. I'm not even aware of it when I'm using it. It's nothing like the sound of a whistling EVO.

Its nice to hear it. Now I want to try one. I have seen the vapecritic video above and he says hits must be 15 seconds long and that it takes 7-8 seconds to produce vapor. That is a lot of time!! With my Milaana I can start producing vapor much faster if I preheat a little. I just need to sip very slow at first and then increase my draw rate. Can something similar be done with the ghost??

Well, the Milaana is unregulated & the Ghost regulated so they are 2 different beasts when it comes to how you draw. What I do sometimes on the 1st cycle is just run the cycle through w/o drawing which warms up the innards. And my draws are anywhere from 10 - 15 secs depending on how deep I can inhale on that particular hit. 15 sec is as long as I can possibly go. Being regulated, I either keep a consistent medium draw throughout the hit or I'll draw slightly slower in the beginning then increase to a medium draw. But your draw can't be too slow because the unit will overheat if you don't draw sufficient cool air into heating area. Look, if you can learn how to use the Mi, then you can learn the Ghost.

There is still some noise while holding the button, but it's far less offensive than the previous versions.
It's a bit louder on the first crucible and it fades away. It's not enough to bother my wife or me.

There's a way around the long draw thing. A couple little cigar puffs work very well for quickly heating the crucible.

I also have asked myself if I would be comfortable with 15 second draw requirements. I spend so many hours each day strenuosly clearing allergy respiratory mucus and like my vaping to be as little work as posdible.

It is primarily effects I seek. Hence my longtime interest in the Ghost. On demand is a feature I like a lot, it's all I know in fact even my session desktops have all been on demand, except maybe the Aromed.

But Im sure my vapcap hits are 15 seconds most of the time. And they really wear me out with the draw restriction which is probably the thing I like least of all about the vapcaps. And Imoften hit the Elev8r for longer than that.
The wide open unrestricted air flow of the MV1 strongly appeals to me, but I do always try to hold my hits and we breathe for maximum efficiency, and maybe this could be slightly more difficult when taking in a lot of air fairly quickly.

Just my thoughts, Im not disuaded at all and look excitedly to owning one of these great vaporizers.

So...the first hit of the crucible requires a long draw. If you can't, watch Troy at 420Vapezone. He does a few cigar like puffs on his first pull......The 2nd and so forth, no. I just had about a 6 second pull at 410, it's scary how smooth it is, and exhaled a juicy cloud.

Often times I'm full of vapor before I hit the 15 sec buzzer.

I've had mine almost a month and dint regret it 1 bit. Probably will buy the stealth even.

@Summer It’s a very hard wearing finish that is applied using a process known as Electrophoretic Deposition. It's very durable & scratch resistant and has been subjected to serious testing in R&D to simulate actual use conditions. Depending on how it’s handled and cared for, it should last as long as the product. The new Matt UV finish that is used to replace the original soft touch finish is also extremely durable.

BTW...Patrick says hello!

Troy....fixed in what? The firmware is, I believe, the same. Ghost did say, on another forum, that they are planning a firmware update but no joy or expected date yet.

The issue of having to up temp as battery depletes is real, not a show stopper but real, and I don't think they are announcing any significant (or any) circuitry update with this unit. So, no new firmware or board update, how can it be fixed?

I believe it has been fixed over the course of several firmware updates.
Also, the Stealth in my hand has a new unreleased firmware.

It was made somewhat better w the one update the release for iOS but any newer release you have is, as you said, not released yet.
Thanks for the reply

Nerissa - I have a question, please. On the destination page from the link, it says:

Our latest production units now come with:

- The latest heat-sink with improved seals
- Highly durable tactile Matt UV finish on reverse
- Newly improved door mechanism & switch
-Updated firmware to keep your MV1 operating at its very best
- Improved tolerances

Is this newer firmware than that already released via the app for existing units and if so, when will that firmware be released GA?

Just a dude
I’m so excited for the next 4 days to fly by so I can get the news that I’ve won a new MV-Stealthy One! Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to enter once a week and play along but it would be a lot better for me personally to just go ahead and get the winning over with. Then I could really focus on cheering the other lucky winners, instead of only thinking about myself!

This contest is a brilliant idea** and a wonderful gift to all of us fuckers* who haven’t yet experienced the on-demand flavour train. We can’t all be ballers like @Baron23 rocking TWO MV-1s; although if I did have 2, I’d get a custom leather belt made with two holsters and able to hold 10 crucibles. Because I’m stealthy.

EDIT: I actually like the trade-in idea even better than the contest and hope many people take advantage of Ghost’s generous offer and update/upgrade to the Stealth variant. That Ghost is donating those trade-ins to Uncle Vito’s low- & no-income patients, made me cry tbh. Chronic conditions and diseases take away one’s ability to work, which can really mess with a person’s self-esteem & self-worth. What @Vitolo gives to people in dire need is much more than simply a device to deliver their medicine, so kudos to Ghost helping him help others.
