Backup vapes of same kind?

Vapeur Rogue

Est. 2013- Never Lookin' Back
Hi-
I finally have my collection rolling again, one could say VAS...but here comes another Query.

I would like to hear experiences of those who invested in 2 (or more) of the same kind of vape- initial motivation (for example non replaceable battery, or just diffrent woods) if you found it redundant, useful, how much you use both, etc.
I have seen it in folk's profiles or in reference in a thread, where they have 2 Milaanas, or Furys, or Underdog, Vapman, Solo, etc- the curiosity it getting the better of me.

Thank you!

I know that someone talked about having a backup Cloud Evo in the forums. I'm not sure who that was but he had two of them, one was a spare for just in case. He really loved the Cloud Evo. It may have been Ataxian but I dont think he is around the forums anymore. Anyway, I'm sure there are others. I know I have thought about it.

i have a backup SSV and i wouldn't say "backups" of my log vapes but rather other instances because each one is different, each one is functional art. i do have a backup of my MFLB also come to think of it. Without exception backups and other instances have been purchased used and inexpensively. I know that the idea of a backup SSV is sort of absurd because you can always send it back to the company for a friendly fast and inexpensive repair and there's plenty of other vaporizers around the apt to tide me over but there have been times that I've had 2 SSVs running on different ends of the coffee table depending on the fervor and quantity of my guests.

Hey, I say do whatever works for you. I happen to think it's a good idea, especially if you have a vape you feel like you cant go a day without. Which means I should probably buy another Underdog. It would suck to not have that one available.

I have two 7th Floor DaBuddha vapes, one I took to Jamaica. Not sure it counts but I have a backup coil and PID for my NewVape FlowerPot along with two bowls. Frankly I really never want to be without the FlowerPot, if I had glass there I would take it! Respect! -YaMon

Solo was my first.
After some thought I bought a Sub, then a MiniVap some months later. Then, in the desktop range I got a Nano and later a Flowerpot.

The whole idea was to keep the power trip going! And have all options covered. I'd say the main idea was that they all complemented each other:

The Sub is nice and powerful but a little fiddly so I figured an MV was perfect for travel and as a session vape, in mainly hybrid heating mode, but can be both on demand (if needed) or full convection.

The Nano was a bit of an impulse purchase, but I figured it could be what I didn't use the MV or Sub for; to be on all the time, precisely as an on-demand device and to be hit directly most times.
For me, it's very practical for watching movies, so that's its main purpose.
I'm even thinking of relocating it to living-room duties, and creating a little alternative vape station for it.
Also aesthetics... It's one of my head turners with that sexy maple burl body!

The FP came to complement all previous vapes, and especially to complement the now 3 year old Sub and help it last longer. Sub is a little more efficient and powerful, FP a little more convenient and practical to sum things up very concisely. Also its full TI vs Ti/SS.
The power of both is comparable to some extent, but I'm still glad I have them!
Case in point, when my Hex-Nail bricked I didn't raise so much as an eyebrow. Just turned around and hit the Sub.

The Supreme V3 came later to complement them all. As a gas-powered device, it was unique in my line-up, Also bought along the lines of the MV: as a portable, off-the-grid, easy to service, cloud machine.

With portables is the same story even though I'm not a real portable guy...
I figured I preferred them the same as my desktops.

I kept the Solo as a portable, ultra-reliable workhorse. The Storm as a "battle vape" to go where all my expensive ones didn't dare. The Hopper as a, well, we all know what the hopper does :D! Also for discretion :ninja:...

The Zion and Milaana were the same idea.
Zion as a fully portable desktop, to complement my MV. And Milaana as a discreet version of it, to go along with mostly Hopper.
Was hoping to buy a Milaana 2, when production normalised, and felt like wasn't making Ryan lose money on it (like last time, long story) but seems the project is dead now :( SO sad. Mi is a solid concept IME.

I'm buying the Nomad because it's a real work of art as well as a cool concept, and partly to cover the absence of the Mi2.
I'd still have them both if I could, I'm a sucker for artisan vapes.

The Persei either with Alpha Centauri or Herc is still my portable oil vape. Got one of THE best hits I have ever had with some amazing Amnesia BHO, it almost floored me.

In the future I plan to get maybe a Vapman, probably a VapCap, to complement the Supreme and get my portable gas family going strong.
Also a Woodscents from Ed because, as I said, I'm a sucker for artisan vapes, AND its a Ti heater... SO that gives me the reason to complement the Nano! :science:
If I move to bigger place I may have to consider leaving one on each floor.

I had a V-Rip in mind, as the ultimate "connaisseur" device, to fully complement my convection family.

And last but not least, maybe a VB2, but since I'm not a big concentrate guy I think it may be overkill with all the quartz gear I have already...
CCA is pissing me off with their utter BS and delays so I may have to pull the plug on that sadly.

...And that was my brick! Hope it is of any use :D

I am thinking about a duplicate Solo ll. When it recently left the building for repair or replace my only backup was
a Xmax vital. It kinda sucked until I realized that the silicone and glass mouthpiece was a perfect mate for the 14mm female on my ice bong . Only 2 or3 hits from a full bowl but what hits!

I fully appreciate long posts-!

There are a few Mi2 left in RBT shop (You have to click on the graphic on splash page to get there-get one while you can-I agree about the concept.) and I was out of the scene, with my Vapman, Lotus and Firewood 2 exclusively -My first 3 that I got in short order- for a few years so missed the drama)- one of the reasons I posted this now-

I totally get you with the idea of complementary vapes, and like you am in love with artisan vapes- I am less familiar with the Storm, Supreme, V-Rip or Hopper- must have missed their threads-but if any are desktops that is likey why- I have been all about on demand and portable till recently.

Maple Burl E-Nano is a looker indeed! Now that I have decided to look into session vapes and desktops again- that is the model of E-Nano I will be investing in.

By the way, I am so sorry I missed out on the Zion too.

Yes- considering how much I used my FW2, I am already thinking on ordering 2 FW5s, and my first is still in the mail.

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king
My first vape, over 5 years ago, was a MFLB. The MFLB taught me how vape highs work, to appreciate the taste of a conduction vape for the first few hits, technique, efficient herb use, stealth, battery tech and did everything I hoped for in a first vape BUT....it can combust and the clouds were not rolling in so I did some homework and bought a Solo to backup the MFLB. In no time flat the Solo became the daily driver and the MFLB became the out and about.

Over time, with the help and guidance of the resident vape concierge, @stickstones , I learned a ton about vape tech and built a collection. The one constant as the collection grew was the Solo. When my wife's migraines took over our life she needed a strong medicinal vape that was quick, powerful, simple to use/maintain AND something with the ease of portability once that baseline high was established.

The Herbalizer became the "emergency relief NOW" solution and the Solo took over as the "around the house medicinal buzz maintenance vape". The migraines being 24/7 at times meant that the Solo was getting worked hard following that first emergency Herbalizer sesh so I bought another Solo as a backup AND so I might be able to use a Solo myself without the guilt of knowing I was possibly running out the battery when my wife needed it most. We don't use the Solo pass-thru because it weakens the battery over time.

When the migraines don't rule our lives the wife prefers the Solo as she moves through the day. I might start my daily buzz with a desktop sesh or the Solo but it always ends with the Solo on the couch, in bed, working in the garage, by the pool, etc.

That's why we got a Solo as a backup and another Solo as the backup to the Solo :D

 @Vapeur Rogue ...Phew, I'm relieved! at least somebody makes sense of it!

Thanks for the heads up! RBTs site seems to be changing regularly its layout and it's hard to keep track of all new developments. Unfortunately there is no international shipping option! :( I'll see if I can pester him about it, since there's already some other internationals with a Mi2 it I'm not mistaken...
It's pretty disappointing though. :nope: Internationals are people too :nope:.

The Storm is a cheap conduction vape, maybe there's a better one out now IDK. Still works flawlessly though. I got it mainly because it is a discreet pen and has removable cells.
Supreme and Hopper are portables, although the first isn't street portable so to speak. Looks more like a bite force measuring device, as someone put it once, so it's more at home on your desk. It also requires a cooking torch or similar, so not the most portable setup either .

From what you tell, you actually didn't have much need another device, really! My two other irl vaping friends freak out when they see a new vape added to the collection :freak:

All log brands are serious contenders IMO, that is why I can't resist the appeal of a new WS, and maybe an Underdog in the long run too... Musa is a must, at some point, because its halogen of course so another variant... :science:

And there's actually hope for the Zion! If you like box mods, because the concept still lives on in the Splinter Z versions. Splinter is based on it too, don't know what are the exact differences between the "Z" and the normal one but they shouldn't be too great either, so even a Splinter may do the trick if you feel so inclined?

I have way too many log vapes and Milaanas and vapcaps and while each one is ~slightly~ different I can't say I recommend this practice. None of them have ever broken on me. If they were too, I'd hapily use one of my other vapes while I order a replacement/wait for warranty repair.

I would recommend getting "similar" vapes as backups before getting multiple of the same. If you have a Mi, get an LB. If you have an Underdog, get a HI, if you have an iHeat, get a splinter, etc.

As for the splinter being a replacement for the Zi, I say no. The vapor quality itself will be similar, but the form factor is so different. For me most of the appeal of the Zi isn't just regulation, it's that it's a complete solution that has stem storage, herb storage, and a stir tool and encapsulated in an easy to transport "desktop replacement" portable. A box mod with a splinter or iheat doesn't offer any of that, but it does offer good vapor production. The DNA powered LB's coming through the pipe might be closer to the Zion, but that wont have all those features either.

I don't need a backup because I've caught the VAS virus. But where I have 2 of the same vapes like the MVT it is because there have been some improvements since my first purchase. The only exception was that I had several different shaped vapcaps.

Lots of us have addictive personalities, and collecting the current fad vape is a symptom.

I've had a handful of log vapes, one side of my brain says; but each looked different and all were beautiful... The other says; Obsessive. Addictive personality behavior.

I do currently have several vapcaps... that's the only vape I ever actually NEED, so having spares, for when you're too lazy to clean one, leave one elsewhere, loose one, is smart. Even though I'll never break an omni ti vapcap.... there's times I'm glad I have a backup.

One side of my brain says; Smart. Being prepared. The other says; Obsessive. Excuses. Addictive personality behavior. Nobody needs 4 spares on something that doesn't break.

So you see... really, the reason just depends on how honest I want to be with myself at that current moment.
