@Hackerman, yep, tinctures work well as a pre-processed solution. My statement only regards to process OG herbs/hash during the brewing process.

BTW for the interest of German DV customers who get in trouble with German customs cause of the new EU regulation on cross-border-trade of vapes I've published the appeal against the confiscation of DV stuff by German customs here.

VapCaps are good with beer.

Sounds like you are beginning to come around, makes sense making cannabier.

You Americanners are so innovative. Lagunitas, Baby!

It's funny how this thread moves. How fast, and that speed somehow makes folks think that DV should be having something new often and regularly. Remember...it took George his whole life to make the OG and then more time to create the Omni and then the M. All that's happened pretty damn fast. Let DV get good at making the great designs they've already made.

They are now a factory, much like Martin Guitars is a factory made product. Both still do some custom work, but the main thrust of their time, money, and employees efforts is toward making and selling already popular models.

I don't disagree that the magic of DV is the tip and cap. It is. That's why there are so many artisans, amateur and professional alike who make DV stems, bodies and accessories. And Martin Guitar's designs come to life in the hands of hundreds of luthiers who 'copy' their OM, OO, and Dreadnought guitars.

And my tastes run to the after-market as well. I've gone through my DV-made inventory, and I'm going to 'only' keep an Omni XL and a Lightwood Vong body, the rest will end up on another thread here sometime this weekend. But I'm keeping a bunch of tips and caps to pair with my DDave Water Wands.

But my decision is because I really only use my vapcaps through water. I do use my Omni natively, and it's all I need for overnights. And I've modded a fat mouthpiece into a more refined WP adapter that pairs nicely with any 14mm WP. If I used my DV's natively I would also move to the after-market because those designs are one-of-a-kind, and I like using craft items.

But again, I don't think this should somehow be an indictment on Dynavap anymore than I would criticize Martin for not making a factory guitar built to my specs.

Factory-made items are designed in such a way as to provide uniformity and consistency that are the most popular to the most people. Craft/artisan-built items are designed in such a way as to provide uniqueness and singularity based on one user's preferences. They're different things, and one's expectations should be reasonable as to what each type of maker's output is likely to be.

Oh, and I just finished making an Everclear/ABV tincture with a year's worth of ABV. It yielded 3oz which are now in 3 eye dropper jars. I took it straight-wowzer. I may try a dropper or two in some beer later whilst I watch the Red Sox try to go 2 up on the Yankees. It'll be fun watching David Price trying to win his first playoff game as a starter. Ever.

Peace FCers

Excellent points you make here. Very good post!
I believe you are correct, it's a factory item (a nice one at that) and the aftermarket stuff is fantastic for personalization. I have not dipped my toes in the water as far as purchasing a fancy stem, but I probably will in the future. Some of those made by fellow FC'ers are amazing! I did however, purchase a DDave water wand kit with bubbler. Game changer for me. That kit with your vapcaps is like peanut butter with jelly. They just go together.

I wholeheartedly agree. I read a post somewhere yesterday where someone called the vapcap the bong of the future. With the DDave Water Wand Kit the future is now.

EDIT: Two hours or so later. Last night I had the misfortune of knocking one of my long DDave Wands to the floor. At first I didn't think it broke, but upon further inspection I found a hairline fracture at the tip end of the wand. Bummer. And doubly so because I'd just discovered that my other long wand had a chip in the tip end. Oooofta.

Well, crafty-Ken showed up with a great solution. I took out my glass cutter and did a little glass cutting. I now have two new DDave Water Wands; one the size of a standard vapcap and one the size of an XL. The bonus (for those of us with OCD) is that the long wands are the ones that fit flush into my 14mm pieces opposed to the short Water Wands that go pretty deep into the female joint. As I understand it, that's to allow the short wand to fit into a Dynastash.

Either way, I love the DDave Wands with SS tip. It's just perfect. And really is the bong of the future. And the future is now. Like right now.

@beyond6strings I know I sound like a broken record, but next time you see a hookah bar go in and ask for the "Nila" style hookah grommets. They keep the 14mm joints from swallowing the Wonder Wand, (short). It's just a silicone cone. I turn one wrong side out and push it in the 14mm joint. It seals up out-of-round wongs. I always carry one in my kit. Doc

While I'm waiting to get a GonG bong does anybody know if the M will work with this kind of bong? On the one I have, with the bowl removed, the slide flare is about 19mm across and the diameter of the other end is about 1 cm.

Not natively, the M will fit into a 10mm joint with no adaptor, the fat mouthpiece lets it fit into a 14mm glass joint, or a DDave glass wand lets you take the tip off and just use that on the wand through a 14mm joint.

Good news! I just placed my order for DDave's Complete VapCap Water Wands Kit with the Showerhead 14mm Water Pipe! What a great deal! I can't wait to try my first vape!

Thanks to everyone who answered all my questions and helped me figure out what to get. You all are awesome!

happy camper....
Such a wonderful day today! Happy Day for a question. :)

I’m wondering if anyone here has noticed anything significant to know about using the various different sizes of ‘bowl’... meaning the tip where the bud is applied. I have one tip screen set into the 3rd groove. I’m asking because I figure if I’m using the 4th groove instead of the 3rd, I’m just wasting bud. I have a reason for saying this, but does anyone else figure it’s best to make the bowl smaller (3rd slot) so bud isn’t wasted?

Hey Doc, I do listen to your sage advice.

I got some of those through Amazon several weeks ago but the first time I messed with them they didn't work.

After your post, and some thought, and a sharp knife I got something cobbled together. It's not elegant, but it shores things up nicely and it's way gentler on my glass pieces.

Thanks.
