The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

I have the older model that isn't 20% battery and I find that after 3+ years of use the quality of the battery life has definitely degraded. That's to be expected though. I still love this unit and will go out and buy a new replacement the day it dies.

If you're worried about battery, I've found the car charger to be very useful.

got my mighty on friday and used it for the first time after a 5 day t break. man this thing gets me high, for 275$ i dont regret my purchase at all.

follow up from yesterday, i received my WPA for the mighty, and wow that thing just rips through glass....the mighty is bigger than my damn bong

So I've been using my Mighty for a little under a year now daily. Love it, recommend it...

Just was about to clean the thing, and had the lights up bright, and I look at my Mighty, and a chunk of plastic has broken off!

I've never dropped the thing, or was rough with it, not sure how the hell this chunk came off. I can still twist on the mouth piece, but I'm wondering if I should contact Storz and Bickel about warranty?

What do you guys think, has this happened to anyone else?

Yes ... they are very fragile.
Great performance but very little resistance.
How can they have made both volcanoes, which last a lifetime, and then make two crystal vaporizers

Mine's waaaay worse than that! A break there is no problem as far as the c/u goes; the side rails are there to keep your fingers from getting burnt on the side of the oven. (And to ventilate, but that's no problem now!) If the breaks were on the top surface at perimeter of bowl area, that's trouble. If breakage gets severe enough, they will replace the unit if they see you are in warranty.

I contacted Storz & bickel earlier, haven't heard back yet. So you think I should hold off to have it fixed, or have it fixed now? It's just shy of under a year old. I love the thing, and use it medically daily, I'd hate to be without it, but I also don't want it falling apart more, or not send it in, and then the warranty expires.

I'd keep it. When you're closer to (2 year) warranty expiration you can re-consider -- and probably get a new one at that time. Note that if they do issue you a new one, it will be under the original warranty; warranty doesn't re-start if they send a new one for free. But it is sweet to receive a new piece.
There's a slight chance you'll get a run around, but that's more often for other issues (needs new batteries, for example)
Keep in mind there's nothing functionally wrong with this one, it's not going to stop working or anything; more like a dent in a car fender or such. You can drive without worry.

I have a question, no doubt discussed at length in this thread (but beyond my capacity to find quickly): any suggestions for a good case? I tend to prefer small cases (just for the unit and a small stash container or maybe the dosing capsule container) with some protection and, ideally, lockable. I've got a Pelican case that would be okay but it's a bit big, even though it's the smallest of the lock-boxes; I don't see a Ryot case that would work. I'm sure there are numerous camera/lens cases. Any thoughts?

I recommend a AmazonBasics hard carrying case for 5inch GPS; fits well along with enough space for the capsule storage unit. $9

I think not, mine doesn t do this. If it stays like this, i would contact S&B about it.
I had very good experiences with their CS...

I personally use a pelican case which houses the Mighty, the charger, and some accessories crammed in. It’s a little bulky, but I don’t travel with my Mighty, I prefer my Pax for on the go.

If you live in the states, and have a Harbor Freight Tools near you, they sell a big line in sizes of knock off style pelican cases tho. With a 20% off coupon you could get a cheap case that’ll last you forever.

Mine is as quiet as the day I bought it.Not a peep. Not bragging, just letting you know what other units can ( and should) be like.Sounds like a warranty claim is in order.

Can I ask if you bought it through a reputable source? The only other units I've heard of with this problem were either dropped or knock-offs.

Sometimes there is a sound of plastic, crackle or click, as it heats or cools and some of the housing joints are moving (expanding/contracting) at different rates. If this is what you're hearing, it's not a problem (usually).

I had a $2 hard drive case from Ebay it was a zip up clamshell type like those for ecigs or handheld consoles. Just fitted the device only, nice and snug. But I decided to stop using it in case it was allowing the Mighty's plastic fins to become cracked somehow,
I just felt the protection was deceivingly minimal especially from knocks, squeezing or pushing forces from the outside.
So I swapped back to a softer EDC style molle tactical pouch. (Flyye EDC small waist pack)
This also offers zero protection from accidental crushing, but at least this is very obvious and I just handle it gently now.
A velcro front pocket gives me room for a few capsule caddies or a magazine.
As you've rightly pointed out, anything with more rigid protection and which is lockable, is probably going to be larger than what I've mentioned.
I always would've preferred if those Vapecase brand cases were more snug for maybe just device only.

The molle pouches can have double zips which may be able to be locked together like a suitcase?

My first Mighty did not do this but my newer Mighty does. It seems just like a vehicle engine or exhaust after you've been driving so I didn't really worry!
I hope that the newer ones that make the click, are doing this to lessen or avoid possible fin cracking from expansion and contraction.

Put the mighty up to your ear and you will hear the noise, every mighty does it

Anyone got the 40 capsule fulling set? Is it worth the money?

Not the set, but I hand fill the capsules and use the S and B 'rotary dial ' thingy.
I also have the key chain vial.
I thought about the filling set, but my current needs don't justify that many capsules.
I gotta say though, it looks like an efficient set if the Mighty ( or crafty) is one if your main drivers.

I often use the Mighty nowadays in a method described to me by the wise FC member biohacker.
It involves putting a tiny amount inside, running the Mighty up full, and preheating the load.
Then you hit it through water in as big a hit as you can, maybe another small hit to finish. And it seems to be really efficient and seems to save things much more.
Plus it appears you get a great type of extraction and some nice reclaim deposits if you're into that.
Although it can be a bit hectic early in the day!!
I use capsules where biohacker used native with pad I think, I drop the capsule in after heatup and wait 40 - 60 seconds for preheat.
I fill the capsule about 1/3 full (0.03?) or less and top with a custom thin pad, and I'll do two of those mostly, as it makes sense while it's all heated up!
It seems to be a little more heavy on the battery overall but well worth it.

As the Mighty CU works excellently, this can also be done at or near full temp without water and I've used my Crafty very discreetly like this where you don't have long to take a quick puff somewhere.

It is unreasonable to imagine finding another portable that can truly and healthily perform a considerably more efficient flower extraction than this!
I should be able to match the experience with a DDave kit for my SSV, but it seems like what I've heard a Flowerpot does. (huge robust clouds from a tiny amount in one hit).

I also fully transitioned to "screenless" CU on the great advice of choochoocharlie, and I was either using fully packed caps or a thin pad inside the cap.
No problems to report at all and it works out real easy to wipe the rim of the CU now and then and keep the capsules free of oil, and it makes my CU cleaning quicker and easier.
I have not made this transition with my Crafty, for now I feel the stock set up will get you out of almost any situation while out and about.
And also I had just bought a pack of screens and they will last a while!

@Mighty Hero , Yes, the filling tray is wonderful for advance prep, especially when hotel hopping. Worth the money? -- answer depends of your valuation of convenience/time/use pattern.

I think this picture is funny, how close the S&B tray is to the one I spec'ed out with @Ratchett back in the summer of 2016:



We both thought it was appropriate to print this prototype in official S&B orange. I stole the idea from a video about a bootleg nespresso pod refilling tray. They added the brilliant plunger tool, however.

When I was moving around and using the S&B tray more, I found the tamping part was not needed. Since understanding how a filled to the brim capsule avoids leakage, I don't tamp. I leave each cap filled slightly mounded high, then use plunger device to put lids on.

I'm pretty sure the falling condensate is almost solely responsible for the brown staining in the groove around the bowl top, as I saw it in action one day when a drop landed in the wrong place on my newish bowl and melted into the groove while sizzling and leaving a mark as it dried.

I'd be willing to bet if you went screenless and capsules only, you could fully avoid the staining over time if you were careful with wiping.

And well done on that tray design. 8 capsules is way more realistic for my uses, or even 4!

Coincidentally, this isn't the first time a manufacturer has developed something similar to my design AFTER the fact.

That's fine, they can't stop me from publishing my new V3 design later this Fall
