Is there some marking to tell the quartz heater from the boro heater?
How would one be able to verify quartz or boro?

I guess I will be finding out soon enough.

It actually feels different. I can always tell 100% which is which, by look, shape, design and if all that fails, as soon as my finger touches it I know it is quartz. So really no issue there at all.

@LabPong , @lazylathe is only wishing to use a coil. He plans to have it tight enough on the heater to forgo the sick clip entirely.

I actually did a bit of torching the previous 2 days. Def changes the signature and effects I swear, I fancied a play with the quarzt. I find 25 seconds with Big Shot to be plenty. I did actually combust on a reheat 2 nights ago. That is where you have to watch it and can be very easy to misjudge and overheat.

Tonight I went back to the simplicity of the coil and had one monster load of about 0.4 plus, just the whole little pot of stem calyxes I took off Sunrise No 1 which I trimmed the other night. Over 130 grams total in jars now. My mum calls the calxyes "cushions".

Rather than throw them into the main curing jar where they will just sit on the bottom and be forgotten in time, we pulled them off the branches after trimming and kept them separate so we have had multiple little pots covered in foil with calyxes from each plant. (eg. Sunrise 3 cushions, Night Queen cushions, Durban...you get it;))

I did enjoy using the torch but what I can't put up with for very long is when the load starts tapering off and it is a bit of a pain to have to do a reheat cycle just to get the last bit out of the load. Coil makes all of that so effortless and fast. I need to get one for my quartz heaters now to really put them through their paces.

I do still notice the extra draw restriction and I feel you have to work a little harder to milk and fill your lungs up proper but not saying that is a bad thing you still get plenty enough however you go about it. TOO much actually, now that I reflect back to last night and some of those torch hits.:o

Quartz is incoming shortly!!!
There have been a few more requests, so they are bringing some in for us!!
Excellent service, as always from @Sneaky Pete @SneakyPeteVaporizers !!!!!!
Sweet, you are going to like this one. Why couldn’t you just buy it from 7th Floor?

I stumbled on a excellent inexpensive torch for the ELEV8R. It cost me $12 and is perfectly powered for the ELEV8R. I have put all my other torches away when it comes heating the ELEV8R.

This obviously is related to the 'Whip-it Ion Lite' but it has a different flame nozzle and a tighter flame

Nice, if it works for $12, can’t beat that. How many seconds do you heat for? I might get one. I run pretty bad when it comes to butane torches though.

Almost there...
@highasakite

If I can buy locally and avoid all the import fees and duties, then I purchase that way. If not available locally, then I will order from the States.
Shipping prices to Canada from the States are usually ridiculously expensive compared to what you are buying.

Just trying to save some money and support local companies!

@LabPong
I have a coil and a few torches around to test with. The first few will most likely be torch hits and then work on fitting the coil well.
Looks like a lot of fun!

That would be the find of the year if it works well on the Elev8r !

I have been thinking of doing that too. Just have to come up with a proper stand. I would like it to be like using the flowerpot by just putting your enail handle on the bowl....draw a hit and put back on stand. That would be a perfect use scenario I think.

Good deal, but it will not take long at all to set the coil up on the heater. Who's coil did you get?

I haven't been using this beast in a while, but I just used my elev8r for the first time in maybe a month or so. It's just so much. Anyway....I'm high as fuck from one TINY bowl, I just barely covered the screen, not the full bowls I was doing before. I do love this vape a lot....a torch isn't very optimal for me though. So there you have it.

Anyway, I used the wand because I've been using the Wand to hold some small nugs pressed in there as a sort of screen. I put a 18-14 reducer in there, and then my underdog stem into my Toasty Island....the elev8r bowl acts as a sort of screen, and as the vapor passes through it, it cools it and makes the elev8r wand usable for me. So in short, I've been parts of the elev8r kit with another vape lol.

Well today I used it all in one frankenstein session. Heater, to wpa bowl with some ground herb just barely covering the screen, to the wand with small nugs pressed in up to the screen. One of these days when the nugs look all saturated with reclaim, I'll grind it and toss it into the elev8r for a super bowl. lol

Stupid question but does it require a specific coil? I was just going to use the 16mm one I have here.

No I was just wondering because I have 2 different PID's and one company has a 15.8mm and the other has a 16mm. The one I use with my elev8r is 15.8 from Auber...with my Auber RDK-300. My newvape controller has a 16mm coil available....but I never got one to try as a second coil to use with the newvape pid.

You will be good to go lazy.....just need to bend it slightly...pretty quick and easy task actually.

Yea....no doubt if I took a month off of using my Elev8r......and came back....HC would I be in the stratosphere. lol

So, fun story. I already owned that exact torch before getting the Elev8r and is what I currently use for it. Originally got that torch off Amazon for dabs and vapcap purposes (on low). It does work fine, but it is a bit underpowered. Heat up times are roughly 60-90 seconds with the throttle fully open.

Yes, me too. It is way too weak for my taste. With the big buddy, I only need 20-30 secs (on lowest setting).

That would be an issue for me then.....anything less than a Big Buddy Turbo would be not powerful enough.

I use a This Thing Rips torch I picked up cheap at a local store, and it heats up the v8r in about 25 second, not minutes, from cold on medium flame. I never do the high, but I think it would only cut down the time to maybe 20 seconds, but it's so loud at full blast I never use it like that. At low I can heat my vapcap.

The Big Buddy is just spot on for the Elev8r. Lowest flame, 25 to 30 seconds for light blue, GORGEOUS tasting, remarkably smooth vapor. It doesnt milk full at this temp, but very visible and keeps flowing so smooth so you can inhale until it stops and still fill a lung.

30 to 40 secs for monster extractions.
I cant seem dial into that same window with the Big Shot. I should start with 20 secs initial next time and see if I can replicate the Big Buddy's torch sig lol!

A day of testing the DigiTi yesterday, Elev8r yesterday am beforehand, and again esrly hours this am. And what a thoroughly enjoyable bowl to send me back to sleep so wonderfully high.

This Thing Rips torch I picked up cheap at a local store, and it heats up the v8r in about 25 minutes
You wanna correct that bro? :brow:

Thanks guys, I was able to cancel my Amazon order. I was fearful it wouldn't be powerful enough to heat for under a minute (I am used to 30 secs), but figured I'd give it a shot. I'm not waiting 90 seconds.

I received my quartz heater a few days ago. I really wanted to get to know this heater so I put my glass heater away. I bought the ELEV8R early and I have been using the same boro heater since the first time I fired my ELEV8R up. I pretty much use it daily. So I think the glass is pretty fantastic.

The quartz heater is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Since I have been using the quartz heater it feels different to me when heating and seems like it takes longer to heat and cools quicker than the boro. I would say that the quartz heater feels more conservative and less powerful than the glass heaters. To be honest since I have been going with only the quartz heater I am continually feeling the urge to put the boro heater back on my ELEV8R.

I think as far as functionality and heating I feel the glass is > the quartz. I know quartz is amazing for many thermal applications and can handle more heat so I have been a little surprised I like the glass heater so much more than the quartz.

I am not a glass material expert so I know very little of what there is to know about boro or quartz, but I do know what I like.

Interesting, I was awaiting your comparison. Ive still been undecided about whether to get another coil to fit a dual quartz heater setup (bit too loose on quartz my current one, so switching from glass to quartz may not work so well).

I just wasnt convinced I rated the quartz performance enough to switch to it exclusively. I did also feel it had a little less "oomph" for extraction. I was sure I had to work harder inhalation wise, like the donkey noticing the bags seem heavier and the hillclimb slightly more.
I couldnt be sure how much this was due to the added draw restriction with the quartz' narrower interior.

I wonder if you noticed the slightly reduced airlfow yourself? I havent used the quartz heater enough so Im not saying that is good or bad in this case, but I couldnt believe I was the only one who noticed it or at least that much.

Guys- I broke my Digital Herborizer Ti last night. I turned it up too high to burn off black rosin residue from the Ti and I buggered the heater or control box.:doh::doh:

Not looking forward to emailing Seb now. The situation was already complicated enough. Oh wepl, stupid me. At least the trusty Elev8r keeps me company. With several heaters, sick clips, bowls, a coil AND a torch...well it is hard to not have a working Elev8r on hand.

RMA? I think not!:nod::rockon:

Thanks for sharing your impressions @BornAgainSteama always of value and interest.

My 2 cents on quartz vs boro:
I have been using both for about 2 months now and don't see any differences that exceed the variation attributed to the inconsistencies owed to me being operating the flame.
The main advantage should be the increased durability, although I cannot tell from one heater alone. With the boro version, it took me 4 heaters to find a keeper - one that did not crack within a month.
