Discontinued Healthy Rips FIERCE

C'mon where is the final troy review already?
Would love to see formal vid review soon too by one or several noted vapists. I'm salivating waiting for my Fierce pre-order. Time to order the dosing capsules and add them to my pre-order. Can't wait! :peace:

I doubt I could wait for the Black Friday sales if I saw a review by Troy.
This is my first HR purchase and I'm unaware whether they have offered any Black Friday deals - or any such type of deals throughout the year. Bonus if they do! I figured the pre-order pricing and the Power Bundle I've ordered is a very good deal AND the fact that it will become my daily vape when it arrives. Dosing capsules are a no brainer for quick reloads and using different strains and forms of material (I mostly use flower; may try some concentrate in it after a break-in period). Some glass accessories can't be ruled out in the near future depending on initial performance however my friend's Fury 2(!) is indicative that HR knows what they're doing and the Fierce will rival or surpass the F2 in performance.

Is the preorder being charged right away or when it ships? I assume price goes up after Monday. I got to decide which bundle, leaning on the power bundle now ($229) and a set of capsules

Charged right away. I know from experience.

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM

Please take that figuratively and literally. Both. As in a double entendre. Here's my story...

Not that this forum is that long (yet), I've read every page and post. The reason is that a good buddy has a Fury 2 (which is awesome) and I thought about getting one since my daily and, effectively, only vape is a 2.25 year old (preorder) Grasshopper Ti. It has served me well until earlier this year as its performance has degraded and I decided to send it back for service soon. Until I get a suitable backup vape.

Then I discovered that F2 was getting a bigger brother, the Fierce. Great! The launch date was pushed back a bit but hardly negligible. And then this digest got a bit longer. And pondered that the Fierce is the answer to my dilemma. So I ordered the Power Bundle a few weeks ago. I was so excited - and counting the days (a previous post).

I've lurked mostly on FC and didn't post much until recently, both here and in the Hopper forum. Both topics, the upcoming Fierce and the state of Hopper health, i.e. whether folks are still having issues with their units both old and new, were of interest to me. Many are sending their Hoppers in for service and the backlog wait time doesn't bode well. However that wouldn't have mattered once I had my Fierce.

Well, on Saturday night my Hopper did or rather didn't do something it hadn't done before: turn on. Ouch. Tried it a few times and still nothing. Took out the battery and put in another and still nothing. I hold my breath and wait a few minutes. I got it to click on. Whew! Then it happened a few minutes later. Dang! Now I really can't wait for the Fierce and I'm going away the end of this week and was planning to take my Hopper with me. Double dang!

So Sunday morning rolls around and a buddy asks me if I want to go to the Freedom Rally in Boston. Why not? It's a beautiful late summer day, low 80s, sunshine - the last gasp of summer. And my Hopper got working again - cool! For those not familiar with it, it's an annual cannabis flea market with lots of vendors, food, music, education - a very cool scene. It was my first time and I really didn't know what to expect but liken it to a Dead show vibe pre 90s (I've seen them both in the 90s and 80s). On the way there however my Hopper stopped working (don't worry, I wasn't driving) and it was completely inoperable. This ain't good at all but...

We weren't there more than 5 minutes and we came upon a table with an F2 on it. My heart skipped a beat. Only it wasn't an F2, just a reasonable facsimile thereof. Yep, a knockoff. And the price was very reasonable. I told them I wanted to walk around first but could be back.

It was a fun afternoon seeing so much glass, paraphernalia, edibles, clothes and art for sale, with lots of music blaring from all over the place too. I didn't see anything in the portable vape category that caught my eye. So we snaked and found our way back the the F2 copy. Indeed a good price, wrapped and sealed box (several might I add). I was a bit skeptical but figured it was short money and a bridge to the Fierce. Why not? Sold! er bought!

Needless to say it works well after 24 hours (not continuously, lol) and nearly identical to the F2 as far as I can tell - same exact dimensions, features and everything. And I can have it on my upcoming trip to where rec shops are legal too :) When I texted my F2 buddy what I bought he was surprised and very happy for me. After all I've used his a few times and he's a vape fiend (bad VAS :) ), showed me how it works, and he really loves his F2 which is among his newer toys. And I was really looking forward to using my Fierce with him in a few weeks too.

And then it hit me. Out of the blue my F2 buddy who I've known for 30 years asked me unsolicited and blindly, would I cancel my Fierce order? PAUSE. I honestly hadn't even thought about it. I figured it was short money and bridge until I got the Fierce. Holy contorted conundrums and quixotic quandaries! What to do? A bit like having the devil speaking in one ear and the angel in the other. And with time counting down until the Fierce preorder shipping date (a week from today) which I knew was a couple days after I leave for my trip and would've been waiting for me when I returned.

Honestly and embarrassingly however, after my recent posts and anticipatory excitement for it, I cancelled my Fierce order last night. Saving the money seemed like the right thing to do. I don't know if it was the right decision and only time will tell. I know it has a bigger chamber than the F2 which is major plus right off the bat - and as I just finished a load, rather quickly at only 375F, with my new unit, lol. Sigh. I think a finer grind will ameliorate the situation and my decision (TBD).

So, there you have it. A tragicomedy so to speak with peaks and valleys. I was on here for a bit, still enthusiastic about the Fierce, F2 too and all the good things I've heard about both. I'm sheepishly going back to lurker mode for a while reading about the first on here with a new Fierce - and looking forward to reading many of your posts. Without further adieu it however has been fun...

Peace! :peace::leaf:

I would not have gone for a Fury2 clone so short before the fierce release.

A real fury2 at at a very very good price would make me think twice.
But a fury2 clone with uncleae materials involved. Nah, pass.

The Fury 2 clones aren't clones at all, but rebrands of the Fury 1. The only difference in materials would be the change in silicone from Fury 1 to Fury 2.

My understanding is that the Fury was designed by Healthy Rips based on the heater tech from the Weecke Fenix (also used in the Force) and manufactured by Weecke at a discount in return for Weecke getting the rights to sell the unit as rebrands to other companies. The "knock-offs" are literally just Fury 1s with a different logo slapped on. The trade-off being that you miss out on HR's awesome customer support, which was worth the extra money to me.

If I'm mistaken on any point, corrections are welcome.

Delayed.

Was excited to be getting a new Vape next week.

We want to start by thanking you for trusting us with your FIERCE preorders! We have experienced a slight delay, as this is a new product and there were a couple of minor issues that we did not anticipate. Our production run is taking a little longer than expected because we have taken some extra time to select random units from the production line to put through extreme and severe testing for longevity and durability. This extreme testing process is a final step to ensure that our FIERCE production units do not have any previously undiscovered issues prior to shipping them to our clients. In other words, we want our clients to have the absolute best experience with their FIERCE now and lasting into the extended future. It is very important to us that we get our FIERCE right from the very start!

This final extreme testing process has been successful, and we are very confident that our FIERCE is problem-free and ready to ship! This final step has caused a minor production delay. Therefore, we are updating our ‘tentative shipping date’ of September 24th to an ‘official shipping date’ of October 10th. We are confident, like last time, in the official October 10th shipping date, and we do not anticipate any further delays.

We sincerely apologize for this final delay. However, we hope that you understand and appreciate us taking this extra time to ensure the quality of each and every FIERCE that our clients receive, as opposed to rushing to meet a deadline.

We are so thankful for our HR family! Without clients like you, we would never be able to make this happen. Thank you so much for your continued patience. We know you are anxiously waiting to get your hands on your FIERCE, and believe us, we are just as anxious to ship them out!

Sincerely,

Not the best news, but I purchased a Fierce for specific features including the price. I absolutely love my Fury 2 so it helps soothe the delay news.

I would much rather wait a week or two more than receive some half-baked POS. So I say to HR, take all the time you need to get things right before you send it to me. In my book there is nothing worse than having to send a vape back to the manufacturer for some required repair. These companies get only one bite at the apple, that's it. If it ends up in my hands and I need to send it back, I will never purchase from that company again.

Just get it right before you ship. Be patient grassvapers.

20 bucks off for a "preorder" isn't feeling very generous at this point but we've seen worse rollouts. Kinda lost interest but I'm sure I'll see one on the exchange soon enough .

...I thought the first delay was due to a cosmetic stuff left by the mp attachment that slides on. So they fixed the mold for the production of better sliding or whatever. Why this new delay... Nothing else should have changed? Shoulda been "stress testing" or whatever on thatl last delay.Damn I'mfeelingsalty sorry @HealthyRips.com just super bummed

IMPORTANT: We do anticipate an earlier shipping date than October 10th. NEW FIERCE UPDATE:
We have successfully resolved the cosmetic issue with the mouthpiece and we are upgrading our tentative September 24th release date to an official release date. We have started our first production run at this time and we do not anticipate any further delays. All FIERCE preorders should be shipped by September 24th, 2018. This also means that you can still save $20 by placing a preorder on any FIERCE bundle prior to the September 24th, 2018 release date :).

All the Best!

It is what it is.

At least Healthy Rips communicates. I would rather they make sure everything is right than weld themselves to a shipping date. I am disappointed but if they shipped me a vape I had to send back I would be pissed. I would rather not be pissed so I am choosing patience.

Not pissed here either. If owning GH's and reading its thread can't upset me, nothing can!

I look at technical documents all day long, inconsistencies and such jump out at me, unfortunately I can't turn it off at quiting time lol.

They've been pretty good with their communications, which is why I brought it up, this surprised me.

Idk seems kinda sketchy to me... After constant delays it seems like there was some bigger issue they're having trouble ironing out.... Also why would additional testing cause another delay unless another problem was found?

Thank you so much for your patience!
Our philosophy is to try to break our own products so that our clients are not the guinea pigs. In our 'extreme testing', we have pushed and pulled the FIERCE far beyond any normal use to avoid this exact scenario.

I don't think it's sketchy at all and didn't mean for it to sound that way. Everything they wrote falls in with how they've done everything on the Fierce to this point. They took actual production run units and hit them hard to make sure nothing would pop up. It's a great way to handle early productions.

I think you misunderstood what I meant in my post. They have been very transparent with everything to this point. They were also very clear in the terms they used when talking about dates and tentative vs. official and openly explained why. That's the only reason it caught me off guard. They were so careful to spell it out, that when they doubled down, it really surprised me.

That's my point though. It's seemed like they've had many "release dates" tenative or otherwise that fell through. I hope you're right and they are being transparent, but I'm just saying it could be indicative that there's an issue they're having trouble nailing down, or their fixes have caused other issues to surface that they weren't accounting for. I understand it's hard to launch a perfect product, but it seems like that's something that should've been taken into account for their timeline and has been overlooked many times.

I'm not going to cancel my preorder or anything and I hope all this extra effort will provide a solid release, but I'm just saying it won't surprise me if it's not perfect. This will be my first dry herb vape and every experience I've had and seen with healthy rips so far has been positive. I hope they release something that will earn my business in the future because they seem to be very friendly and passionate.

As for production unit testing, I agree, it should be done and will probably give the most reliable feedback, but again that seems like something they should have accounted for in their timeline and I don't see why it would cause extra delays.
