I was wondering the same thing about @ataxian. @Stu might know how he's doing.....?
My understanding is that he had some issues with a password reset and has been unable to do so successfully. I have reached out to him through a 3rd party with my personal phone number, so he knows how to get in touch with me if he ever wants to return. I've offered to go to his house and help him get his issue resolved (he lives fairly close to me and I've been to his house before) but he hasn't pinged me back.

FWIW I've heard he's doing fine, so that's the good news.

Amen, good news indeed. Thanks for following up and advising us.

I hope he comes back to brag and play again. How about if I promise to stop teasing him about the pink Solo? After all, that's just a personal choice I'm told....

Or we could all just join whatever group he's now hanging with and hound him back? When they find out how he treats glass, I bet they'd be fine with that.......

I've always placed a SS screen in the oven from day 1. It will require more cleaning because the screen will get clogged a bit and bits will still get through but nowhere near as much as without the screen.

I don't know how anyone could use the Solo without a screen and not end up with a grin full of bits. To clean the screen I hold it via my old unused roach clips and take a lighter to it. I rarely put the screens in ISO unless I'm cleaning the stem as well.

Oh, almost forgot....you didn't need to call me honey......

I never use a screen in my stems. Using a fairly course grind never get any salad in my mouth. My herb is usually very dry too. I like to take a long slow draw, chase clouds.

Each to there own, Solo is so versatile. If I wasn't on my commute to work I'd be having one more bowl

Seems the use of those screens isn't as much of a constant as I thought.

I don't clean my stems until the reclaim is pretty thick and there are always bits in the reclaim that sits in the stem (not the bowl). Don't you guys see more bits in your reclaim? OR .... if you do see weed bits it's not enough to bother you?

I don't pack my stems. I like to just inhale while the stem is in the weed container and then scrape off any weed that is hanging over the oven lip. This way the first few draws are super easy. I don't even let my lips completely seal the stem it's so easy. If I were to remove the screen I could probably get an even better/easier draw so I'm intrigued that you could use it without a screen like that.

Try a slightly larger screen with modest dome so the mesh isn't blocked by glass. Now you have many many times more unobstructed mesh holes 'working' so it takes a lot longer to klag up on you. Cleaning the screen becomes a rare task.

BTW, for those not trying to reclaim from the screens, try holding them at the edge with an old roach clip or something similar then torching them until they glow. I use a small 'pocket torch lighter'. The screen is SS and can easily take the heat and you're left with a bit of ash that easily brushes or even 'blows' off and you're back in service in a minute or less without chemicals.......

I find that the flat of my baby finger gives me a perfect concave.

Interesting suggestion. Please bring that pinky by, I'd like to try it........

What OF mentioned is exactly how I work my screens including the "Dome" approach.

You can purchase "domed" screens or try and create the dome yourself with a new screen. I have found that once I place an "Un-domed" screen in the oven by just pushing it flush against the oven bottom....by the second time I clean the screen it has formed a natural "dome" so I just put the screen in upside down with the dome pointing upwards. I find the natural dome forming like that is easier than trying to shape a new one out of the box AND since it formed itself it's a perfect fit. Forming a natural dome like that requires you use a screen that is slightly larger than the oven bottom.

I used left-over screens from my Lil' Bud stems and placed them with a tiny funnel I got from @DDave to set the screen. I always torch my screens as @OF says-it gets everything off in just a few seconds-blow it off and boom.

I collect reclaim from my glass stems once a month or so, and did so even before I used screens. It will be a less gritty experience going forward.

I've found that the taste does not really suffer much from using the screens. I like that the screen reduces the load-size. And I like not getting so many tiny bits of dried flower in my mouth, throat, and on the stems.
