Arizer Solo II

I am glad that my replacement Solo II does really, really well.
The Solo II has become my go-to vape at home, together with the e-Nano. Either, or.
I really enjoy it. But I do not like the stock stems that came with it. They are somehow wobbly. I much prefer the aftermarket black stems. Not only do they look better, they also fit way tighter. Love them.

I just made this account to thank this group for helping me find my next vape. It was a long research and one by one the candidates fell until now there is a Solo 2 is in the mail. Just talked to Ed of Ed's TnT and ordered his bog wood stem. He was totally honest and said he has been able to use the Solo stem on the Solo2 but there were a handful of them that were too tight. He said if I was willing he would send one and work with me to get it to work. So I have that to look forward too. Life is good.

This beauty really shines with the 14mm water bubbler, the bowl doesnt stop going!
Will agree that this is a top tier vape like the mighty if not better
The price point is ridiculous

So I got the Solo II and it's everything it was described as being. Took less than a minute to figure out how everything works. I like that. I also got a few extra stems. The OEM clear glass measured 14.43mm (short) and 14.6mm (long). Got a bent black @ 14.6mm and straight black @ 14.5mm. Lastly I got one of Ed's Bog Wood stems meant for the Solo 1 which measured 14.64mm. It's slightly tight but it didn't feel at all like I was breaking anything pushing it in. The stainless end has groves cut in it for airflow. When I twisted it in my fingers I could feel the sharpness of the cuts. So I got some 320 black sandpaper and twisted the end around on it for a few min at a slight angle. Now it has a rounded over feel and the sharpness is gone. It seems to fit better into the O ring too. As for the difference in flavor between them... I have an incredibly low tolerance (which I'd like to maintain) so it will take me a while to test everything but I can say that Ed's wood stem has no harshness at all. The flavor is right there with my Firefly 1. Plus it's kind of cool sucking on a 5,400 year old piece of wood. I'm not a cloud chaser and I'm keeping the temp around 360 with a small amount in the bowl. I don't take it all the way through the steps but donate my abv to a friend so it isn't wasted. But I am. I like that first hit flavor too much to let it degrade.

Holy shit. One can get a Solo II for around EUR 170,- (vaposhop.com + FC coupon) in the meantime. What a no-brainer if you don't own one yet. I am seriously thinking about getting a second one at that price point... Smakelijk!

Opinions on using the screen in the stem? I have never used a screen and really dont want metal in the glass
Will it add more conduction? It probably makes the bowl smaller

Another reason is to cut the volume of the load. The domed screens many of us use cuts it in half, meaning you can finish the reduced load and start with a fresh one next time (rather than 'left overs').

Domed (even slightly) screens also means it's much harder to foul the tiny holes in the stem up. "The whole screen works".

Never used a screen, interesting that Arizer say that you should not use a screen.

Not supersizing, really? Then again don't then include/sell them anyway?

By all means try 'both ways' and see what suits you better. There is no 'right way' with Solo. Or Air/ArGo for that matter.

Regards to all.

I got the 4 screens in the box and bought a dozen more and never used one.

Copied this from the Arizer website.
Note: Metal screens are included and available for your convenience but they make vapour harsh and diminish the flavors. The Solo Glass Aroma Tubes have a built-in screen to keep vapour pure and flavorful so we recommend using whole or coarsely ground botanicals with no metal screen for smooth and tasty Vapor.

Works for me.

Yep, they include 'bad idea' screens and suggest coarse grinds or whole nugs (and ignoring the debris most guys are trying to avoid?).

And again, used domed (even slightly) can mean far more use between cleanings and 'full performance' with reduced loads so you can enjoy smaller but FRESH loads on follow up sessions potentially. Both worth exploring I think.

I use screens every single time. The 1% less flavor is worth the 90% easier, longer lasting clean.

Excellent point! Flavor is an illusive target as well. Only the first couple of hits really count? That is the second hit 'barefoot' is very much like the 3rd with screens? Not sure how it's determined a 1% loss in flavor vs 90% advantage in cleaning, but I've no reason to disagree. Kind of a subjective estimate, but the logic behind it is solid IMO.

For sure a guy should try it and then decide, not make a decision based on random.guys on the web? Sort of like buying new eye glasses for a friend........

Good discussion going on I believe. Is this a great Forum or what?

I understand what you say about doing a half load.
I get 6-8 hits from a full load and once the burnt popcorn taste starts I am done.
After Mrs Solo has her 3 or 4 hits she is ready for another bowl.
As for cleaning I keep 4 stems in rotation and use each for 5-6 loads before changing out to a clean one.

Wow, 6-8 hits from a full bowl?? I hope you’re saving the ABV for edibles because there’s no way you are extracting all the goodies.
I haven’t counted but it’s probably times three for me, maybe 20-24 hits.
I Vape until it’s dark brown though and just toss the abv.

Same here! I get sooooo many hits with 1 full bowl
Especially thru water, this thing gets me +20 hits everytime
The abv is nice coffee.brown almost like my EVO

Yup 6-8 at 338f makes for awesome ABV. Turned 2 oz into a absinthe tincture after water curing for a week recently. Tasted and smelled great after I blended it with some MCT oil. Strength is approximately 2 mg THC per drop. Packs a nice punch with no sleepy couch lock effect.
