Time to pick another vape … Is This VAS??

The community here was able to help me pick my fist vape in jan 2017. Since then I have been very happy with my vapcap. I checked out the forums occasionally, but didn’t have much to add. My vapcap worked as I wanted, but it seemed like everyone already knew they were quality. I never had much to add the the discussion.

Fast forward to today… I am still very happy with my vapcap, but it has become a mostly at home device for me. It pairs great with a water pipe, and I love the ritual of sitting watching a movie and chain vaping with a vapcap. I still have need for a take out in public vape (I had thought I was immune to the VAS you all spoke of). I'm considering something battery powered. I want something self contained to cut down on what i need to bring with me. No torch ect. ect.

I currently have been using portable cartridges with distillate. These work well, but I'm concerned with the quality of the oils in some brands. I also don’t like the waste from throwing away the empty used cartridges. I have access to good clean quality marijuana so I’m not interested in an oil vape.

Everyone was so helpful in helping me choose my last vape, I thought I would ask to see what people recommended. In general I think I prefer a more on-demand type of use, and I am open to all styles of vaporization (convection, conduction, ect.).


My criteria in order of importance:

1. Clean air path, vapor path, high quality materials with no off gassing harmful particles
   
   
2. Flavor
   
   
3. Something that can be put in a pocket (It doesnt need to be super discreet but I don’t want to carry around a kit)
   
   
4. Cloud density
   
   
5. I would like to be able to vape a comparable amount to what fits in a vapcap 5-7 times a day, on one charge or with only one spare battery swap

Help me decide which vape will fill me needs, so I can hurry up and start looking at a dedicated home use plug in vape to compliment my vapcap. (Well I guess there is no use denying the VAS any longer)

May I suggest a Haze Square. Huge clouds. On demand convection vape. Four bowls. Thing is a power house. May take a few weeks to get the grind, pack, and hitting down pat, but once you do unreal it is.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into and consider all of them. I know something of the solo, but hadn't considered it. The haze square and the nomad I am unfamiliar with.

The nomad looks stunning. Can the nomad be purchased or is it a wait list? I’m not always the most patient and like to order things that I can have shipped right away. Still some things are worth the wait and the nomad looks like it might be one of them.

I would say the Fury 2 is my go-to for out and about during the day in an illegal state, because it's so discrete...but the battery is a bit smaller that you are looking for. I have to charge after 3-5 bowls.

Definitely wait list. I think since you were weaned on the Vapcap it would be excellent choice.

The milaana is one I had considered in the past, but it seemed harder to order back then. I see they are available directly from his website now. Some of them look really nice.

How is the milaana with battery life? How many loads could I expect to vape before performance started to drop off noticeably?

I don't think it matters with the Milaana, because it uses basic 186050 batteries, so You can cary as many extra batteries as you need!

I squish all my flowers into rosin now, it's so much easier than hunting endlessly for the next new underwhelming portable flower vape. If you want true on demand performance nothing can really compare . I know you said you're not interested in a wax vape but I'm only suggesting it since you said you do have access to good clean herb.

Instead of an old west '6 shooter' belt you can holster your vape and put your batteries in the bullet slots. You would need to enlarge the bullet slots to hold 18650s though.

right now I would get a lil bud or mistvape essence. Or else a fury 2. Milaana sounds good too

I don't have a lil bud but would probably buy one if I didn't have similar vapes like the milaana and MVT. I just got an MVT 2 (mistvape) and it is beautiful.

Thanks for the additional suggestions. I've had some fun checking out the different options.

Would I be able to get through 5-7 packs through a milaana with 2 batteries? Would I need 3 batteries? I don't mind bringing a spare along, but I don't want to keep track of a bunch of extra stuff either. Might just be easier to have a charger with you at some point. Is battery life comparable between the milaana, MVT 2, lilBud?

While checking out all the suggestions, I stumbled on the new firewood vape. Might consider it also! Too many vapes too little time.

I have tried many wax pen vapes, and all of them seemed to be a bit of a pain. Some friends had a peak too. I ended up using the disposable cartridges, because they seemed much more convenient. Unfortunately it is not always easy to pick out the best safest cartridges. I also don't like all the waste from the empty cartridges. What do you recommend as a wax vape? It seems you have had better luck with them than I have.

Lil'Bud by Vapwood. @Bravesst builds them . Definitely get 5-7 loads per battery , all wood, clean air path , instant heat (check out first toke of this video how fast !) I carry mine in my pocket all the time . Cloud density X10 and oh , it's tasty !

You can maybe ask bravesst to join the uniq list and see unique available units Offered to FC members. They are built and in final stages!

I was using a vapcap before LB and haven't had the vapcap since ! Tried a few other vapes not worth mentioning and have a good HI log for home !

Well the cartridges are certainly more convenient than anything. No other portable wax device will be that convenient, but a lot closer than any flower vape. I know what you mean though, I only stick to a few certain brands.

I used to use the Divine Tribe V3 a lot, most people these days are using the Top Air Flow Saionara with the Ti bucket. I'm usually at home using various e-nails, I'm probably going to be buying a Peak next. But nothing will ever compare to the cartridge for true portability - not having to reload or clean anything is a game changer. For those reasons I'm going back to carts for portables as nothing works so simply. There's a lot of bad carts on the market but the best ones from the best processors are as good as it gets IMO.

I feel like any concentrate device will work better as a true portable than a flower vape. If you're just looking for something cordless, that's a different story. But IMO these flower vapes all suffer a lot of the same problems, short vapor path = hot, harsh, dry. The wax pen is way smoother.

Yes, I think I had tried some really good carts first. I got spoiled and used to them, but then one day I couldn't find them anymore. Trying to find another one I actually liked, and watching the trash from the empties pile up made me want to find an alternative. Your probably right though for true portability and ease of use, a cart wins, followed by a wax vape. I think I'm willing to give up some of that ease/portability to find a vape that I can use for flowers, because it is easier to find consistently good clean flowers than it is to find good carts for me.

edit to add: Just saw the part of your post mentioning hot, harsh, dry vapor due to short vapor path. I prefer to use my vapcap through water, but can use it dry without too much irritation. Do you think most of the current on demand convection style vapes offer a vapor similar in harshness to a vapcap dry, or is it worse??

I would have a look at the splinter for out and about....

and then you buy a Flowerpot for at home use....

Honestly I don't know how people use these convection portables, even through water tools the vapor is harsh to me.

The Vapcap is kind of in between to me, the way the airpath mixes fresh air in right at the end + the very restricted vapor path makes it a bit smoother than some other flower vapes. Especially since a Vapcap is constantly cooling down in temperature compared to an electronic device which holds temperature steady.

My wife has just started talking about a Scandinavian cruise down the road after I have rehabilitated after an upcoming surgery. I immediately thought of this thread and @invertedisdead talking about cartridges and pens. They seem ideal for a cruise, maybe the only realistic way to medicate in that situation.

If we do a stateside trip before then, I plan to get several just for such occasions. Do they store well if left alone? Or has nobody here ever left one unopened/unused for any length of time?! Just curious...

@s3vaping TBH, you’ve got a lot of good suggestions here from great members and yes, IMO playing in the portable end of the vape market is more problematic as far as more frequent and prolonged bouts of VAS, possibly a chronic case! Seems like there’s just more products, more variations, more movement in portables to grab your attention and cash.

I think if that’s where your interest is then you will probably acquire a handful (at least) of portables that have different strengths for situations. I do recommend getting a handcrafted portable made by a human bean on F.C. sooner rather than later; those vapes seem to bring the most long-term owner satisfaction and pride, even as newer toys are acquired. But also, the vapcap heat is very high to begin. I suffer a particular type of bother and irritation in my throat and upper respiratory system due to this initial high heat. I still use the Omnivap every day practically since 2016 so bearing in mind my situation that is a great Testament to how smooth and tolerable it must be really compared to a lot of other devices.

But I can't say I am completely happy with the heat and harshness factor of the vapcap. If it wasn't so easy and quick and convenient and didn't help me to conserve my material by using small amounts at certain points of the day or sessions, I may use it less and favour the Elev8r more often.

I ordinarily use a whip instead of water to manage harshness. Mistvape sells some great whips. The only vape I've found that I can use without a whip (or water) is the Fury 2 on a fairly low temperature.

Whips used to be my main way to vape SSV and the like. I ditched the use of the whip when I realized it was one of the most unsanitary methods to vape. It is nearly impossible to sanitize even a slightly used whip. No disrespect intended.
