Wow!

I see my popularity has grown lightnin' fast while I was away!!!

@newvape918 , here you go:

Easy to see the problem IMO....the handle is more fragile where the hole for the hemp is.

This is what I received in my FP Twax Starter Kit, no extra handle.

And this is the reply I got from Vapefiend when I asked them about the broken handle:

" I'm afraid that these parts are not covered by warranty, and the breakaway handles that come with the regular bowls are designed to do this intentionally if the bowl is stuck. This is deliberate and intended to protect glass joints from taking excess torque and shattering should this happen."

Anyway...The bowl wasn't stuck and I didn't apply any excessive torque or shattering AT ALL.
That is the first handle style for the Ti bowls and it was designed to break off with the idea of protecting the glass under stress.

The adjustabowl handles have the hole in the thick part of the handle to tighten the post and bowl.

Just a dude
But to my eyes @TheFatBastard has also shown that he’s got the adjustabowl-type post. By the time the pan- & shovel-heads came out, the better designed handle in your picture was standard issue for both IIRC. Currently, it’s only available on model#s 3031 & 3038 which is how I remember it. But clearly that’s not what @TheLargeLoveChild has in his possession, that much is clear.
:sherlock:
I am a stoner and prone to mistakes, but this is why I’m still puzzled as to how/why @TheNotoriousTFB even had the misfortune of getting an older handle on the new-ish (even by Edwyn & NV’s lightning fast development standards!) adjustabowls? Even from an authorised retailer?
:hmm:
I’m left scratching my head about vapefiend, especially because my 3 experiences with them, although much smaller transactions have been stellar. I got the wrong thing once and they definitely made it right. They’re quite right about the parts known “feature” but why’d they (apparently) switch out the handle? @TheProdigiousIllegitimateSon is also quite right, all this over an £8 part? But it’s the principle. He’s also right about it not feeling right after dropping £400 just a month and half ago. Not even 90 days?
:myday:
I’m pretty sure it would feel strange to me to as well and that’s why I’m going direct to NV when making the BIG buy. Lots of happy reports from happy members taken care of, Edwin stands behind everything. As long as humans are involved, honest mistakes will happen. It’s what happens next that matters most to me, it’s an opportunity to make a lifelong customer or not. Folks rocking NewVape are Happy Humans!
:freak:
I’ve not slept for couple nights and I’m bored which is why I present you all with this wall of text.

Well, I just wanna say I'm not angry at all, not even disappointed....well, maybe a little, but as @pxl_jockey says is not because of the money..... I make a good living out of my job, not rich, still have a mortgage, etc, but good enough not to worry about money.Specially about £8.

I was just a little surprised abot Vapefiend reply saying the handle was designed to broke....never readed about that before and it is not what I would expect from a top-high-end machine like the FP SH.If I'd have known about that, would have ordered the extra handle with the kit.

Not complaining about Vapefiend customer service also.....they were honest and right, no extra handle was indicated to be included with the FP Twax Starter Kit I ordered, and they offered me to buy the solid rubber handle and try to ship it through regular mail to save some money (shipping was more expensive than the handle itself).I don't care about the money, shipping, etc....I'd rather would have 20€ less in my pocket (which I wouldn't even notice) than all the time I've lost with this.

Taking a look to the bright side, I've appreaciated (again) how good and nice this community is, I have a spare handle coming home from @Pyr0 (thanks buddy!) and the owner of the company, Edwin, has been nice enough to ask for the problem.

I would resume whole matter (at least to me): If you spend "big money" in a top of the line article, you don't expect to have any kind of problems with it, specially within a couple of months of the purchase and more specially yet being a broken part that is already known to have that issue.

First world problems.......

Nice attitude to have and I agree with your thoughts and feelings. Really no issue. But just a word on the break away handle since you were not around here when this product was released and explained. It isn't actually such a crazy idea and there was always the option from the beginning to choose which bowl handle out of the breakaway or solid.

The whole idea of the breakaway handle was actually to protect your glass rig when the older bowls wood stick in the joints if somebody used a little too much force trying to loosen it the glass rig could crack and the idea was that the breakaway handle would break first and protect the glass.

So the handle is purposely weaker and more prone to breakage as a protection mechanism for your glass joints. So when your handle did actually finally break on you this was more likely the result of general wear and tear, not due to you being rugged handed, just general strain over time.

Of course with the adjustable bowls available now the breakaway handle is no longer necessary and many people did actually seem to prefer the 14 mm stubby bowl with a joint reducer, and possibly still do next to the previous handled bowls.

That would have been a pretty silly idea. IIRC it wasn't intended to do so it's just misconstructed.
Same as the old bowls itself.. Their sticking wasn't intended that was the reason for the construction of the adjustable bowls

Are you saying the handle was NOT designed from conception to be this way? I am very prone to confusion, misunderstanding and misinterpretation largely due to medicatedness.

But why on earth is it called the "Break away" handle if it is not designed to be more easily breakable? I should maybe go back and read this thread from the actual time but I can't believe I have imagined this? My memory is really failing me if that is the case but a posiibility.

It was made as a breakaway handle from the get. It was constructed to break as intended and talked about in this thread a fair ways back. Many things that seem like a good idea end up being discarded because we found our ideas don't always work that well. I still have my breakaway handle and when I look at this little mistake I realize how great it has been watching New Vape evolve.

Would like to see that. Can't remember that and am following the thread up from the beginning. Also sticking of the bowls wasn't intended why then a breakable handle? But maybe, I'm an old fucker and memory isn't that as before. BTW I've my 2 "breakable" handles in use since more than one year w/o any breakage.

The bowls were certainly never intended to stick themselves. The breakaway handle definitely was though this is the whole point about it as a remedy for the inconvenient sticking bowls. It waa the first idea Edwyn came up with to fix the issue, before adjustabowls.

In fact I am so confident about this now after @BornAgainSteama 's assurance that I havent lost my sanity (I did actually question it), I would happy to place a bet! How much you got Hogni?:brow:

Edit- not quite a full year yet Hogni since you got your break aways. An anniversary coming up soon though!

That's it! Bowls were not intended to stick but they had the wrapped handles from the very first beginning. IIRC sticking bowls began to start to be an issue followed by broken handles. They are just breaking bc of the borehole for the hemp string which weakened the handle at this point too much so it's nearly a breaking point - but not a predetermined one. That was the reason to develop the new silicone-wrapped handles w/o that borehole as the cause of the handle issues.
Just my rusty memories....but who knows. Maybe I'm wrong but am pretty sure. Too lazy to search for on the thread for its real history.

Well I think you have motivated me to have a random lucky thread dip and see if I can check this. Purely in order to check my own sanity that is! I will be going undercover, If I learn anything interesting I shall divulge.

I just keep remembering Edwyn talking about the advantage of the break away handle serving to protect the rig from force exerted on a stuck bowl. Like a fuse or socket surge protecter.

So maybe it was just a coincidental occurence how this perceived functional benefit came about, but still I have to ask why else is it called the break away?

The handle thing is so old that if someone still has one in rotation New Vape should send them a 'handle replacement award' for still using such a collector's item. The reason the handle is so ironic is because New Vape gear is made to last for a few centuries with the exception of this item.

Here is what i found in my quick 2 minute search. But i'm sure there is more.

I'd like to discuss the existing "BreakAway Handle".

I've ordered some black high temp silicone hose to begin making some solid handles for testing. https://www.mcmaster.com/#51135K152

Currently we have had 3 broken handles out of 300 sold.

Yes i've bent mine before and I do realize there weak around the cross holes.

Is it possible this weakness is actually beneficial to protecting the glass.

Sure removing the cross holes and adding silicone would strengthen the handle and I'm sure we will never hear about a broken handle again. There's a limit to how much leverage the glass joints will endure before they start snapping.

Are we moving the stress to the glass (Protecting the glass is always most important)?

I wish I could admit that this breakaway feature was intended.

Please consider the benefits of the breakaway handle next time you hand someone your flowerpot.
Or what's best for a newbie?

Perhaps a solid/silicone handle should be sold separately but not sold as the default choice.

It's sure great to be talking about flowerpot upgrades again.

Just maybe the FlowerPot is too much vape for you? Respect! -YaMon
I think it may be too much for most human beings. I have had this nagging intuition that the design(s) of the flower pot came from aliens (Edwyn, an obvious alien doesn't fool me one bit). Don't get me wrong, I don't want to start any religions or anything, but it was aliens. No doubt about it.

Hey guys keen to puy the trigger almost did! But figured I’d come here before I do it wrong. I wanna go into 14mm and 18mm female glass, I order the Aussie 220v, the two 28mm dishes the 18mm and 14mm bowl, the handle, the carb cap and I’m good to vape herb through my 18 and 14mm female bongs? Almost jumped the gun but figured 2 weeks postage might as well ask. Also can discount code floating around?
Cheers
