Since we have the ability to basically build our own units using their internals and them being completely OK with that and actually encouraging us is something I really like and will take advantage of!!! My one question I did not get @maxvapor710 is will we be able to incorporate a larger screen if we decide to in a diy. I do like the size of the unit but at the same time the screen may be little too small for the complexity of the unit being able to use the full features without having to open your phone or tablet, just curious how to use the uptemp without using the app? If you even can

Good question, I decided to find out.

I found this screen in my parts bin, spent 20 minutes wiring it up and hooked it up to the board using only the available connectors. This required no particular knowledge about how the unit works or any hardware modifications to the board. The display driver was freely available on github.

This demo also nicely demonstrates the processing power of the microcontroller we are using in the new model. It also might demonstrate how easy it is to do stuff as a hobbyist that is much harder to put into a commercial product. I haven't done any longevity or reliability testing on this display, etc.

Regarding uptemp mode, if you aren't using the app widget you typically use the knob to select Uptemp Mode then click in on the knob when you are ready to start the cycle. You get audible warnings about when each temperature setpoint is reached: stable, start, stop.

Now that I can finally upgrade to a “next-gen” e-nail setup like the MaxVapor I’m also wanting to upgrade the dish setup I’d be using with it. I know it comes with a coil and nail but would also like to buy a paired coil and quartz banger setup that I could switch in. I know this will use the D-Nail pin-out but I was hoping somebody could point me at a place that’d have something like this to make it easy? I’d use the one that comes with it with the nail and my FlowerPot/future VROD. I’m basically looking to maximize flavor now that I’ll have a more accurate idea of what the dish temp will be with this controller. I know there was a link in the HN thread about cheap bangers that I could dig up but I kinda like the idea of just easily switching the cable to change setup.

If you want to calibrate your nail and coil offset yourself and start to build your own profile all you really need is an external source of measurement.

You can get a Type K thermocouple and reader for around $30 pretty much anywhere online, but ideally you want one with a fast response time.

I see that he sells coils and bangers individually but does he sell them paired already? I’d like to avoid the pain of having to wrap the banger myself.

There's nothing to wrap with the 710coils clip kit, you just slide it over the banger and fasten the clip, takes about 5 seconds; but yes I believe he does sell them already paired and ready to plug in, send him a PM!

@SilentJ I own a multitude of bangers and a coil from @710Coils Trust me when I say to go with this over a gavel then it’s the one to go for the heat retention on his bangers are insane I am now down to 465° dabbing with great vapor @710Coils bangers are much thicker than any other on the market with a 5mm opaque bottom or clear bottom and the sides are thicker than regular flat tops and fitting the banger to his coils is no problem simply slide the coil over and use the clip supplied it’s basically that simple if any adjustment needs to be made it is only by hand , he has great customer service so if you are worried about fitment he should be able to pair you up with a proper fitting coil and banger just message him

@SilentJ if you order a banger and coil, I will make sure it’s paired and ready to use. I will also toss in a clip kit since it’s a key part of the setup
I thought I’d read that it was really important for the coil and banger to fit snugly to get good heat transfer? Also, which is better, the clear or opaque? Also, what do the beads do? I’m assuming work in conjunction with a cap to stir the contents in the banger?

@SilentJ I feel like clear is a bit easier to keep clean. But opaque brings out more flavor in the dab. This is only noticeable after going between the 2. So its not a massive difference and so either will work out great for your first banger setup. I developed the clip kits for using coils with quartz to keep the hot coil from causing issues after it expanded from the heat. Also the banger fit is pretty easy once you know what its supposed to feel like and I can make sure whatever you buy fits perfectly.

Hit me up off the thread if you want to talk further about this and I will make sure you are set with whatever you end up going with =)

See 710coils.com for your quartz banger and coil. 100%!

I think it might have been missed since I had to edit the question in, but what do the quartz beads do?

More heat retention, more surface area, and mechanical stirring action when spinning. It basically lets you take a larger dab all in one larger dense hit, as opposed to spreading it out between multiple hits. You can also use a lower temp.

That’s what I figured. I’m assuming the spinning comes from the cap and air flow forcing it around? Is there a vid of one in action?

EDIT: Nevermind, found a few on YT. I feel like there’s so much I’ve still to learn. I need to find a good cap to go with the banger I guess now. Any suggestions on bead size? I guess the bigger ones for the 30mm?

@SilentJ The size you get depends on what you're using it for. The larger ones undoubtedly are better since they retain heat longer, so you can start at an even lower temp. That being said, smaller ones will be reheated more efficiently by an enail since they have less mass with nearly the same amount of contact with the bottom of the banger. If you're taking large dabs I'd go with 1-2 larger beads, but if you're looking for really fast vaporization of a normal/small dab you'll want 2+ smaller beads. You can get much more surface contact to the dab with 3 6mm beads than you would with 1 8mm beads just because the oil wont be creeping up as high. Then again, that negative effect can be negated with the 8mm simply by rolling/spinning it.

I've used 6mm beads, 8mm beads, the nanos from constant gems, and the steam roller from constant gems, and they all have their place. If you're buying from @710Coils I would just get a set of each; they're relatively cheap compared to what other people offer and you'll quickly realize that both sizes have their place in your daily rotation. The truth is, this is new tech to everyone and NOBODY knows for sure what is the best all around. You'll have to find out what works best for your gear and the way you like to medicate.

Gee @SilentJ why do you ask about the certification timeframe? And when units are shipping?

Is it because your heart is beating ever so slightly harder when you think of the MaxVapor?
Is it because you find yourself thinking of its specs at inappropriate times (i.e. whilst having sex)?
Is it because your palms get sweaty when you see @maxvapor710 has posted something new?
Is it because your brain is about to implode from the overwhelming debilitating VAS?

We’re here for ya man, you just gotta admit you have a problem. A serious fucking vape problem. :D

ROFLMAO, can I blame it on it being my bday month and wanting a new toy for it? Got the wife’s approval and would love an upgrade to celebrate with.

I will do this though... I’m SilentJ and I am addicted to vaping tech.

Hell yes! Blame it on your b-day, whatever you like, I think we accept any and all rationalisations!

When the missus gives the green light, you got to move! I can totally relate and I think the MaxVapor looks like a gift that’ll keep on giving and giving! C’mon FCC, give us the certs already!! SilentJ needs his toy!

@maxvapor710 jsut wondering what nail profile/settings will be available when the unit is released? I see from the website you have a 16mm and a 30mm flat, it’s the 10mm flat on site you might wanna make it a bit clearer on your website that the coil is meant for 30mm nails ,ie the 30mm liger, Dnail halos which I see you use the sic and the hybrid highly educated . I’m curious if you will have other nail settings for the unit especially a 25mm coil for quartz bangers since that is what most of us use or are at least trying them out and switching it up. If you don’t have a 25mm coil and banger to test with I have a couple extras lying around and I’d be more than willing to send a setup to you so you can getting that as a setting dialed in.

For my personal gear I have:

D-Nail Slim Nail w/ SiC Halo (10mm Flat Coil)
NewVape Flowerpot w/ SiC Halo Dish (20mm Coil)
NewVape VROD w/ SiC Dish (20mm Coil)
25mm Opaque Gavel Banger (No Coil, have one on the way)

There are some shared profiles from the old enail code that we need to port over still, but most commonly used hardware should be available.

I know the CCA guys reached out to us 6 months or so ago but I never heard back from them, but I would like to get a Liger Air profile setup before release.
