Or grinding different strains at the same time:tup:
That speaks to method. I usually run 2-4 strains in house at any given time and grind individually, then store. Only loss/regret is mixed powder, but with my consumption lvl, I can't justify much more in way of grinders or (other) sifters!

Can I ask a (most likely stupid) question? I’m honestly just naive and looking for information. I’m using a four piece grinder that was $15 dollars. Here it is:

But I see people talking about spending $40-100 dollars for a grinder. To people that have used both, is there that much difference? I thought I loved my grinder, but maybe because I’ve never used a better one? I started with an acrylic one, moved to a small metal 3 piece that sucked, and now own this one.

I TOTALLY understand VAS (boy do I ever!), so maybe it’s related as far as equipment upgrades?

There can be in subtle ways, a difference that is. I have a number of them, the honest answer is probably because of GAS, and always looking for the perfect grinder.

If I could create it, it would have the grinding capabilities of the GR8TR or however you spell it. I love the fine grind especially and the medium is still on the finer side of medium. But it would clean like my SLX (and stay clean) and the changeable plates wouldn't loosen up, and it would be larger like my Space Case.

Don't get me started on specialty grinders like the Magic Flight Finishing grinder, it has a unique niche too.

Yes, there can be a huge difference

just_the_flu

they say im crazy but i have a good time

...this grinder looks sweet, but it looks like it will have the same problem as the SLX.. the dish/piece that collects herb is way to shallow, when you unscrew it weed gets every where because the dish is too shallow :2c:

...least that was an issue i had with my slx...

Hey thought I would post a couple photos of the new grinders I designed. They're a simple 2 piece, but there's something special about them - they're CNC machined from solid exotic wood. Everyone who's used them has been impressed, they hold up, they grind well, resist sticky build up. I've made a few sets from different exotic woods.. with dreams of becoming the "Futo grinder company" one day.. they're challenging to source the right material for and make - the design requires thick slabs - like 3" thick plus.. so for purpleheart I start with this 75 lb 4" log of the wood, heavy to handle.. then I have to slab it up like bread into grinder blanks. It took some time to get the design right, the teeth are thick and diamond shaped, and I use neodymium magnets to hold them together.

Hi.
Not sure this is the place for this question- but while I understand multiple vapes, I was wondering why folks use multiple grinders? I have experience with 2, and when I had the option of the one I currently use that has a hand crank I converted exclusively over in large part due to my hand problems/pain, but also due to my common Dex fails! I am also considering the MF finishing grinder however. Thanks!

Like others have said, different grinders produce different grinds. Some grinds are better for some vaporizers than others, and different grinds can produce different vapor experiences in the same vaporizer.

Having a variety of grinders to provide whatever grind your in the mood for can be a very good thing to have available, especially if you use multiple types of vaporizers. Plus, the quest for the perfect grinder is still ongoing

hi @doug@futo , can I assume the woods are free of any sort of treatments/wax since it will be in direct contact with weed? Is this wood are coming from a certified source which is not destroying the african forest (sorry for you but this is a question I was thinking about for a while looking at all this exotics woods vapes, not only for you...)?

@PPN Hey so the finish we use on our grinders is pure walnut oil. It's considered the best food safe finish for wood, like the gold standard for wood salad bowls and spoons etc. Nut oil are preferred because they polymerize, and they're super thin and penetrate the wood to seal it. We sometimes use a light amount of beeswax just on the outside of the grinder, its usually mixed in with the oil for our standard "salad bowl" finish.. and it's actually from the beehives on our property - the bee keeper is a friend of ours.

As for sourcing, we have a good relationship with a large exotic wood store in Canada. I've talked with them about this, and they've assured me that they make a solid effort to only deal with large exporters and mills who have all of their paperwork in order. For all of our live edge woods like our oak and applewood, and for many of our burl woods - I actually cut the trees myself - I'll remove old apple trees from town properties where owners were taking them out anyway, and they're happy because I'll shop up and remove the tree for free - then haul the logs back to the shop and mill them into boards myself.. and then dry them for a year. We did bring in a load of Cocobolo once bought directly from the guy who owns his own planation in South America, so in that case I was talking to the guy who has photos on his site where he's personally out there planting his own trees on an old cattle farm years ago - so that his lumber was 100% harvested sustainably.

Anybody knows if the Magic Flight Nano grindet still manufactured?
I managed to find a few stores that barrly have some and demand a huge shipment fee abroad.
This seems excatly what i need.
A microdose fine grinder.

I was under the impression it was discontinued and they switched to the finishing grinder because they could make it in-house

I would think that the NV Fine Grind would be equatable. No?

Not sure they ship abroad..
And i think it was 50$ which is not cheap plus shipment.
I need a very small one for microdose..

For a grinder like you’re describing, I’d think you’d want a 2 piece. About 30 min of peeping at the teeth patterns between mendo, space and SCS medium-small 2 pice grinders led me to believe space case would give the finest grind, but i dont actually own any of them yet.

Those scout grinders look neat. Essentially a 3 pice with no holes to the bottom chamber? Might be exactly what i want! I usually just keep what ever extra i have from my plastic fine grinder on a piece of paper until its needed currently.

@rozroz this looks kinda close to the nano grinder https://spacecase.com/products/scouts

edit: btw mendo makes a regular 2-piece in that same size

i will be happy to invest in a space case that grinds fine but need an owner to tell me it's a fact..
i spoke to the Mendo rep and he himself told me their grinders are for medium.

as said above.. if you think the teeth are the finest grind on the SC i'm in, but will be glad to hear from an owner.

ps- of course i'm only into 2-piece or 3 tops.

ALSO- take these Scouts model.. how can you tell these will grind the finest?
the discontinued MF Nano advertised as very fine grinder designed for their vapes.. kinda got me hooked.
