Firewood Vaporizer

I've used every single setting can't get more than one or two hits at all. Going to soak my tubular and put everything back together and report back. But I'm not happy and have been just wasting weed :(

Same. I'll give things a clean and attempt some different stuff tonight but I've been resorting to my vapcap when this vape fails me lately (maybe like 6 bowls so far, so gotta make some more attempts for sure). Definitely hoping I can figure out how to get this thing performing like some of the videos I've seen of it. It is reassuring to know I'm not the only one though who is still trying to figure things out. Hopefully we can get our vapes kicking the ass it should be here soon.

Hey guys, definitely email me at service@firewoodvapes.com if you haven't already. There could be an air leak issue causing problems on a few units, so definitely get in touch and we can get it straightened out.

How tightly is the battery compartment meant to seal with the other portion of the vaporizer? Without a battery installed there is no gap. With a battery installed there is a gap. Seems a little loose, like maybe could come off, so just wondering if that is within tolerances...

As to first impressions, I really like this vape. A lot. Little learning curve. But not much, and easy after that.

- Lower temperature, tasty, voluminous clouds. High potency. Great to start on low, 2-4 draws, then step up to high for 1-2 draws, per chamber.
- LOVE the five chambers.
- LOW draw resistance.

It's what the ghost MV1 wasnt. Consistent, tasty, low maintenance, quick to change settings, doesn't overheat...

Cons:

- might be hard to move chambers if fingers are cold, e.g., skiing... can be stiff as unit gets warm...
- wish the mouthpiece was retractable so flush with unit, so could trust in pocket without breaking.

Ordered some spare parts and a dosing tray. Really, dig this vaporizer. Packs a nice punch. Effects can wear off, but a couple chambers on this and effects are right back. No warm up needed. I will say best performance when battery is above 3.9 to 4 volts on my charger. The 30-40 batteries I'm using charged (added) 2400 mah on the first charged to whatever they ship at. From there, I drain about 5-10 chambers then recharge. Seems that is, and I'm using, about 1400 to 2000 mah between charges. Unit still works when battery gets lower, nice clouds, but a fresh battery is noticeably better...

And as others said, my favorite part is that the smaller, five, chambers allow a super tasty session.

You can literally hear material pop, sizzle, and crack once or twice on some crucibles. The wood doesn't muffle little things like this. When u hear it, it's a sure sign of a dense draw...

So here’s my story. I got this thing about a month ago and was waiting for the proper time to unveil, I got the whole ceremony going, I had the battery all charged up I filled five Chambers and I started mashing the button. I may have gotten overzealous with the button. It would not work, I had to call Marc and send it back in. I just got it back and once again had time to sit down and try it.I filled two chambers with some OG Kush, I click the button once to check the battery and got a buzz saying the battery was fully charged then I clicked the button five times to see where it was set, it was set at setting four . I says to myself let’s let it rip so I held the button down, it buzzed to let me know it was working I started on the draw after a couple seconds maybe 10 or 12 seconds total ,everything was perfect. Took one more hit and it’s all I needed. I put it down and figured I would give my report. Feeling good and my hat is off to Marc.

So I messaged Marc on the issues I've been having and he told me this.

"Regarding combustion on fw5 - it shouldn't really be happening on level 3 unless you are packing it too tight or drawing too slowly. If you aren't doing either of those then there could be an air seal issue. As a test you can remove the tray and put a credit card over the oring to block the air, then draw through the mouthpiece. There should be a pretty good seal and you should only get a small amount of air leaking in. It is isn't making a good seal then you will get more air in, which could cause combustion since the herb isn't getting enough air flow. Let me know how this test goes and any other info or clues you might have to help diagnose."

I'm unsure if I have a leak but this test seemed to suggest it's unlikely.

Side note, I tried a few bowls on the Firewood 5 last night and all of a sudden it was performing much closer to the videos I've seen. I have no idea what caused this change or if I can replicate it consistently but I basically used default settings 2 and 3. I also adjusted my draw to be a strong medium pull. Basically I tried to pull in at a comfortable rate that felt effortless (not too fast and not too slow, somewhere in the middle. I just let the glass straw sort of dictate how I was pulling in air if that makes sense.

Idk I'm gonna test some more to see if I'm getting consistent performance or if I got lucky lol.

I still got a tiny bit of charring and I did have some green/yellow on the edges of the bowl when I was done, but I did stir once which seemed to help a bit.

So ya, give the credit card thing a shot, or try adjusting the draw speed and how you pack it.

Seems to be a few issues being reported. Hope i get a good one....should be delivered this week.

No issues here. The vapor path section has not come loose. There is a slight gap. But I think I see the gap on photos on the website.

Of course vapes at higher temp and/or tighter packs will produce some uneven vaping or even slight charring. That's the nature of convection units. But also user error. Put this on low setting and even user error doesnt prevent dense, tasty, cloud production..

All and all, what a great vaporizer!

Perhaps, I'm a little more happy since I went through 4 or 5 ghost mv1 units, malfunctioning, and now have what I was looking for....

I like this vape.

The bowls are way smaller than I realized and I as others have stated, get 2-3 hits at very most on high and it can def get pretty dark and not so tasty quick. First hit for me is by far the best. Super tasty. I also notice the abv can be a bit uneven but the loads are so small it hasn't bothered me that much yet. Really all 5 bowls at once is a good sesh for me and sets me up nicely for a while..before I got it I was skeptical the 5 bowls would be necessary but they are super small little quick hitters. Almost like in my bong ripping days my buddies and I would take little "snappers" as opposed to puffing on a large bowl and passing around.....that way everyone gets some tasty green...

The area this vape really shines for me is herb wax sammies...I put a small pinch of herb and then some wax or shatter and wow....serious tasty clouds and straight to the dome...prob the best vape i have for this...i can get way more hits per load and more cloudage similar to @paytonpenn's vid...the flavor seems to last longer as well.

Really diggin it though thanks @firewood!

I recently had a couple units sent back to the shop due to air leaking into the vapor path at the L joint and wanted to make folks aware of the issue since there may be a couple more units out there with the same issue.

The main symptoms are weak vapor and/or herb charring. If you think you might have the issue there is a simple test. Remove the tray and use a credit card or other plastic card to cover the oring under the heater. If you draw through the mouthpiece you should be able to hold the card in place with very little air leaking in (a tiny bit is normal). If you are getting significant air leaking in or if pushing down on the battery cover causes the air flow to change then you probably have a bad L joint. Please contact me at service@firewoodvapes.com if so.

Recieved my FW5 yesterday.

I went for unfinished, i quite enjoyed buffing her up to a shiny state. I used 600 grit paper and "lord shertons wood balm". This is a mixture of linseed oil and beeswax. Happy with the finish. Have left it for a day to get rid of the smell, so not used it yet.

My initial inpressions is that this is a work of art. Wood is beautiful. I did not understand how the battery cover held in place until i saw it. The clasp idea is ingenious, will it wear with time?

I am concerned about how fragile this vape will be. I would not want to take it out on one of my more boozy sessions.

I will report later once i have tried it.

Sorry for the double post imIfeeling pretty good right now.

Now i have recovered slightly.

I do suffer from an initial honeymoon period with all vapes, so i dont want to speak too soon.

However this honeymoon is a all inclusive sandals resort in the carribean.

Tiny vape, super portable, holds a clip of 5 bowls, vibration feedback is ingenious, very easy to pick up. Draw sensor is a good idea.

Vapor is very smooth and tasty. Cant fault it.

My only concern is how durable this vape will be long term. Dont get me wrong i love the wood, but how long will it stay nice? An all metal FW5 would be very close to my perfect vape.

I've had the same thought, maybe as a way to get things even smaller. BUT walnut is a proven, durable choice - it's chosen cause it's precisely workable and stands the test of time in high-end furniture and handles, etc - and it's light weight and it has superior thermal properties to aluminum (spreads heat too much) and steel (retains heat too long). I only own walnut convection portables at this point, been that way all year. Oh, and it's pretty.

This is good to know :). Will be my new favorite wood type :). I have to finish my fw5 soooon. What are any recommendations on what to finish it with?

Ed's TNT and Underdog both have fine butters/ waxes. They have been suggested for other Unfinished FW models- I did a simple (very simplified!) Tea stain on my unfinished FW2, and then beeswax. but that was a maple. I am unsure if/which tea would have much effect on walnut (coloration). There is another blend I recall a vape shop having that was in a bottle, possibly more on the oil side of the blend. Would have to look into further.
