Terp Sauce ???

From what I have been reading, distillate works best when mixing up for a cartridge. I’m exploring all the different brands of terpenes too. Anyone have an opinion on these brands?

How did you mix terps with tru clear? Just inside the pen?

I heat up the TruClear in a shot glass submerged a little under halfway in water I have microwaved about 5 minutes. I add about a drop of the terpenes and mix thoroughly. Then suck up in a syringe and inject into a cartridge.

Ok, so my dab rig broke. I only have cartridges and quartz coils now. How can I use Terp sauce? A little on a bowl of flowers? I don’t think you can use it in a cartridge. Please forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject. I’m new to all of this. :)

I can try, I was hoping someone more knowledgeable than me would post.

The way I read about it is they take something like shatter and age it. Over time it starts to separate and part of it crystallizes while another part turns into more of a liquid. Then they separate the crystals from the sauce.

An example that made sense to me is what happens with old chocolate. Eventually the milk/fat migrates to the surface and crystallizes, giving it that weird white coating.

I'm a little fuzzy on what happens after this, I'm not sure if the sauce and crystals get aged more. I think they filter the sauce, but again I'm not really sure. Eventually it get's added back together, or maybe the big crystals are sold separate from smaller ones in the sauce. The crystals can have crazy high thc levels around 80%-90% while the sauce can be around 20%-30%.

So far for me sometimes terp sauce is super flavorful and sometimes not, it depends. Same for how strong it is, most of what I've gotten is pretty strong though. So far for me the bigger the crystals the higher I get. It's amazing how strong one of the crystals can be and how long it will vape for.

Hopefully a more knowledgeable fc'er can fact check this post.

Edit: Here's a pic of the kind of terp sauce I'm talking about, I've heard it called a couple different things.

Ahhh bud, if your coming across terp sauce thats only 20% thats no bueno.. ive been getting this Jilly Bean terp saice from creme de canna... n itd consistently testing st 80% or higher... its basically the sauce scooped from the top of the jar.. amazing to dab on its own.. but peeerfect for s little extra kick to whatever ur dabbing.. i like rolln up a nice chunk of shatter, dab it on sum sugar.. then scoop sum if that terp sauce onto the dab.. ahh its a dab made in heaven. Sooo flavorful n tasty, especially on a quartz dish.

The actual high terpene sauce fraction is more in the 30-50% THC range. 80%+ would be for the combination of THCA crystals + reintroduced terp sauce.

Does anyone find "sauce" without crystals at their local dispensaries? I'm not an extractor. Just a consumer who would like to make my own distillate/sauce mixes to use in Vaporesso tanks.

Everything I see marketed as "sauce" around me has a lot of crystals involved.

Unfortunately I've never seen it anywhere down here in SoCal on a retail level, and I don't expect to for a while because they know they can charge a premium to formulate their own pens with it instead. Plus "terps" in general is such a hot thing right now I don't think there is really any surplus of the stuff to go around, especially with the packaging/testing law changes recently here. I totally feel you though as its pretty much the end game. I'm hoping to accomplish the same concept with rosin re-pressed through a 25u SS mesh into a separate terp fraction to add to disty like NATIV's pods.

Yep, in MD one of our extractors bottles up the CO2 oil they make for carts we also have syringes here of the same or similar.

I'm not sure you guys are talking about the same thing as @florduh

He's looking specificially for a high terpene pour off from a THCA crystal separation, which definitely is not a sap being pawned off as sauce, which is really quite common and IMO annoying. This sauce would be very fluid from the extremely high terpene content and thus have relatively low THC content for an extract. If it was for sale it would be very expensive. Extractioneering's HTFSE is the only real retail product I've heard of doing it.

The final THC content is usually under 60% for a very high terpene cart with lots of full spectrum bio molecules.

Ooops, you are 100% correct. This stuff is quite confusing, and the lack of generally accepted terminology makes it even more so. HTFSE is what I'm looking for, and @invertedisdead I think you are right... this won't be available to the consumer market in a widespread way for a while. Too much money to be made from producing distillate/HTFSE carts.

Really, I should make friends with growers/extractors. But I'd much rather just run to the dispensary. Oh well. Me complaining about this is about as "first world problems" as it gets.

The jillybean terp sauce stuff im talking about pours off a dabber like semi loose oil.. the way they describe it is “terp sauce scooped right from the top of the jar” from creme de canna extracts based in Santa Cruz. they also have their jillybean full terp diamond sauce.. so its basically that. Minus the diamonds..

I like getting it.. then ooozing it on whatever.. very versatile.

This has been and continues to be widely available in Colorado, don't know what you mean by "won't be available to the consumer market in a widespread way for a while", because it already is and has been available.

I suppose I mean the Southern California and Las Vegas consumer markets, since that's what I'm most familiar with. But if Colorado sells HTFSE in retail dispensaries in a big way, hopefully that will "trickle down" to other markets if it's profitable for extraction companies.

So how much does a gram of pure high terpene sauce with none of the THCA crystals re-added go for at retail?

$40-65/g, depending on where you shop, buying med or rec.

Cali may win out with regards to cannabis flower(strain development, genetics, length of time in industry) but Colorado absolutely KILLS it in regards to cannabis concentrates. I remember getting quality of product like you guys speak of back in 2014. Week in, week out, not just some one time special limited run or some such. If there is a finer extract company in the US than Green Dot Labs, I don't know who. I've met and talked with one of their head extractors and one of their managing partners, great people and a commitment to do it right.

With all the companies catching up to the new Cali regs out there, I look for the high quality to rise to the top soon, going by Colorado's recent 5-6 yr history. Some of the former top players will not be able to comply or will try to cheat()just like companies in CO did), get caught, not be able to recover. Whereas new companies will rise to meet that demand and hopefully commit to patient safety and quality, unlike many pre-existing companies. I'd been bragging about Green Dot's "live nectar" on here way before I heard the terms "sauce" or "sauce and diamonds", FSE, HTFSE, a good year or two prior before my buddies "bragging" about this new sauce outta California. I was kinda bummed(not just cause the quality was "meh", but because I was excited to try something "new", but I already had the "new", lol, and it blew their "new" outta the water.

I was going to make a post on how the cannabis market (especially in the US) is increasingly swamped by marketeers making massive profit markups by creating massive amounts of hype around their products, which are nothing special or better than anyone else's. I could offer specific examples but it's not worth the hassle. Every few months some new fancy cannabis product with a silly name comes up...

"terp sauce" ... whatever man, it's all oil to me and it never tastes as good as fresh weed because the finest aromatics in weed do not survive any solvent extraction or even storage. (maybe glycerin if you can call that a solvent)

Over here in the EU we are seeing an influx of american products that are hyped as being superior simply by virtue of being "Cali".... and priced at 20-100% over what the current price points are. The uninformed and their money are easily separated. All I know is the stuff grown / extracted right here tastes awesome and gets everyone's face melting. Couldn't care less about THC or CBD or terpene content as reported by some lab. I don't care abut how long the dreadlocks of the guy that grew the plants/ extracted the oil are. I care about the flavour and the vibe of the plant and a fair price. If the law is being relaxed prices should be dropping, not rising!

Haze Mister,
It's an emerging market. Profits are always maximized during the emergence of any market. It's right in line with the rhythm of the universe because it allows the initial people who did all the ground-breaking to get back the money and effort they put in to develop the market, initially.

After the surge is over and the patents run out and knockoffs are everywhere, a VapCap will be $8 each just like any other one hitter. I remember when they first came out..... $40 for a dugout. Now, 20+ years later... 8 bux in any head shop. Remember the first flat screen TVs and how much they were.

Emerging markets.

I live in MD where our med program is very new and prices are very high in our regulated market.

Was in WA a few weeks ago and got a gram of @SamuraiSam 's high terp with diamonds....Super Silver Haze #1, I believe. The crystals are grown during purging and NOT added in afterward (or that is my understanding after a tour of his lab).

The gram cost me $25!!! $25!!! sigh...did I say it was expensive in MD? LOL
