Gear Black Leaf RosinPress- hair straightener

Looks like a standard hair straightener with a new label on it. LOL

The price sure is cheap. If that's all you can afford, you might try that (or just buy a used hair straightener at GoodWill).

If you can afford to spend I little more, real rosin plates would be much better but you are going to spend at least a couple hundred bucks on a real press.

You can DIY a decent press for about that much if you are 'handy'.

One of the problems with a press like that is keeping the pressure on it for the length of time required (sometimes 2 minutes or more). Standing on it is tough and holding the pressure for that long would tire Charles Atlas.

If you are going to go the 'hair straightener' route, go to ICMag and search this thread for posts by Hashmasta Kutt. He made something with a hair straightener and a standard squeeze clamp that was pretty awesome.

Here is a picture of it to give you an idea.

Just a dude
hey guys, is someone familiar with this black leaf rosin press?

what are your thoughts on it? is it better than just an average hair straightener? bc my experiences with those are rather bad.
wich press would you recommend, for low budget..
Looks just as bad imo. I’d recommend saving more cash and waiting for dabpress to release their new smaller, all-in-one press. It’ll do 1-7 grams and their equipment is real value for money. Otherwise the option Señor @Hackerman illustrated is the best choice, the deconstructed straightener on an Irwin clamp. It’s not the heat, most straighteners have too much of that! It’s pressure that is lacking, and most of the cheaper options just don’t have any. It sucks but it’s the truth. :D

right; thanks for your replies.
My next question is somebody of you familliar with the ju1cebox-press?

From what I have heard of the juicebox it's not a great choice. Less than adequate pressure and no temperature control.

The Juicebox is in a totally different price category than the hair straightener thingy you first posted, isn't it? As I recall, it was actually close to the price of a quality press (about $200).

If you want to keep it cheap, I love the stories about the SLUG. I am very tempted to get one.

If you get to the $200 range, nothing is even close in performance and quality to the DabPress setup for about $240 including the Harbor Freight press.
