Please help a newcomer decide on a suitable desktop vape for microdosing/smaller hits.

Hello All,

I have recently come across this community whilst doing some reading into suitable vaporizers and I must say that I am blown away by the friendly vibes that I pick up, as well as the wealth of information on these pages. I could easily spend days reading through all the posts here, and I expect that I probably will at some point :)

I am looking at getting into vaping as a way for myself and my partner to be able to unwind after work each day. We both work extremely stressful jobs and for a good while now we have used edibles and capsules to help us relax in our free time. I have often described as feeling like I have taken a warm bath without getting wet after ingesting cannabis, such is the state of utter deep relaxation that it gives me.

The problem we have come across, however, is an obvious one: ingesting cannabis takes a good while to take effect! There are times that we just want (need?) the effect to be instantaneous, but as neither of us particularly enjoy smoking joints, edibles have been our chosen route up until this point.

Beginning my search into the world of vaporizers has honestly been quite overwhelming due to the volume of different models and types available. I thought it would be helpful to list what exactly I am looking for to see whether somebody more knowledgeable than I could point me in the right direction or offer suggestions.

My use will pretty much always be at home, although there may be times when I would like to take the vaporizer over to a friend's place. The main use, however, will be by myself and my partner. We would like to be able to take small hits as required - perhaps using amounts as small as 0.025 - 0.05g - but also have the option for slightly larger amounts if we felt the need. Ideally the vaporizer would allow us to use both flower and concentrate.

I am led to believe that log vapes may be what is required for my use, but I live in the UK and realise that my options might be more limited. (I have contacted the owner of HomeGrownLogs to se what may be available from him).

I have read about the Vapcap series, which appears to be very much tailored towards microdosing. There is something that puts me off about using butane heat sources, however. Ideally, I want home vaping to be a deeply enjoyable experience. The less fiddly the better!

I am open to all suggestions!

All the best.

Log Vapes, specifically the ones that can take stainless steel small bowls, are wonderful for smaller hits. These days I'm a big fan on the heat island/toasty top, but there is a wait that is very long. I regularly white wall my bubbler with less than .1g bowl.

Edit: enano is a fine vape, but the larger glass bowl isn't as nice for milking tiny bowls

for portable i have a blackout x 2.0 dry herb but they have newer versions that are larger. three clicks on, three clicks off. its a solid vape, have had it for about 3 years and zero issues and used by two people regularly. for me flower only but ive used oil in it a few times mostly just to say i have, it works. low charge time too (usb deal). mouthpiece removes easily and "screen" can be unscrewed for proper cleaning.

check them out at https://blackoutx.com/collections/vaporizers

+1 on the e nano. It has been my daily driver for years now and no plans on changing. If you get an adjustable stem or gong then you can set the bowl size at any level you like for microdosing or larger amounts. My hits are usually around .05 which is pretty average. I could easily go smaller (or larger). Flavor, ease of use, power when needed, customer support..it has it all in my mind. Just look at how many hits that thread gets in the Plug-in category compared to other vapes.

For a portable I like the Fury 2 as do many others for stealth and great hits on the go. I have 2 vapcaps and while they have quite a following, mine don't get used because I could never dial in the torch use and end up over charring or combusting my herb. But many others manage the torch well and love the vapcaps.

I love a log vape. I have an Enano and a Woodscents. The WS costs more than the Enano. I would recommend either one. I happen to be partial to an all glass airpath. I have a hard time using my glass stem with my WS. My VapCap “M” makes a nice mouthpiece for the WS. @Ed’sTnT makes wonderful wooden stems. Wood stems wont break which gives you that secure feeling.

Many thanks. The E-Nano looks very promising; the only major downside that I see is that shipping and import taxes will likely cost me. Definitely seems to be a shortage of log vapes here in the UK.

Out of interest, what is the lowest amount of flower that you can use in the Fury 2?

Do you own an E-Nano? I saw that you are based in Europe and wondered how long the time wait was and whether the shipping significantly put the cost up?

I own three of them, but had to buy them through some kind person outside of my country, because Epicvape does not dispatch to where I live. Shiping was adequate, both in pricing and wait time, as far as I remember. It was, at least, worth every penny and day.

Thanks. This is good to know.

I am a special snowflake and a tiny bit crazy. ;)
I first bought an old and used model and then had the wonderful chance to order directly at Epicvape. I was so much in fear that this could be a "once in a lifetime" chance (It's really hard to get those devices over here), that I bought two further units. You never know... One could break. As said, that decision was a bit over the top, but no regrets here.

Haha. I totally get your thinking! :p

I have a gorgeous exotic maple enano I’ve been wanting to get rid of. Not because there’s anything wrong with it, I love it, but I just do let use it enough because of the way in which I vape nowadays.

You’d have to pay for shipping to UK but I’d give you it for a price cheaper than a new one that’s for sure, and guaranteed to look better.

Pm me for pics and whatnot if you’re interested.

@RastaVapa 's HomegrownLogs are back in business again. He's UK based and has some gorgeous pieces. Spares a lot if hustle with import, customs and whatnot.

And thank you for your warm words!

I really appreciate the responses that I have got from people here; it is always touching when people take the time out of their busy lives to help a stranger.

I am very much hoping that a suitable vape will considerably improve the quality of my and my girlfriend's life, and the replies here are helping steer me in the right direction :)

Thank you. HomegrownLogs would be my first choice as they're based on UK shores, plus @RastaVapa seems like a genuinely good guy. I pm'd him a few days ago, and he said that there potentially could be a log available, although I haven't yet heard back from my reply. I am reluctant to hassle him, however, as I am aware that he has been through some difficult times health-wise and is taking things more slowly.

Yep. Best, to go about it with some patience there. He's a real nice guy, from what I can tell, and we also talked about a log a few days ago and so I'm also waiting to hear from him in his own time.

I never tested this, but I would think the F2 would vaporize any amount you would put in the chamber even if it's the tiniest pinch. I think there's a max amount but not a minimum.

If you using the dosing capsules, they will only hold so much herb in them without packing too tightly and restricting airflow. The heating chamber can hold more herb without a dosing capsule and only using a concave screen. They also make some glass pieces with the bowl built in, like the bent glass stem, wpa for bubbler use, and the mini-bubbler. There are two sizes for the wpa and most believe the larger size gives you more range to use more or less herb. Many people love the bent glass stem but I don't own one. The mini-bubbler is a fun novelty, but can be difficult to use and clean so I don't use it much.

I have very stressful days also and look forward to coming home and taking a few hits off the nano. Sometimes I leave it plugged in and it is ready to go. If not, you generally need to let it warm up for 15-20 minutes first. In those cases where the nano is warming up and I need a hit right away, the Fury is ready in 30 seconds.

Generally I use the nano at home and the Fury on the road.

Thanks for taking the time to write this really helpful reply. I appreciate it.

Your set up sounds like just what I am looking for: a log vape to unwind at home and the Fury 2 if in need while out and about.

I am sure I recall reading that eventually the Fury's battery will pack up and was wondering your thoughts on this?

There is also the halogen powered MUSA which looks awesome http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/musa-wooden-vape.23239/page-8

As well as the Venus vapes out of Finland.

Both from Europe, both look cool. I haven't tried either one however.

I have an Eds TnT Woodscents and I love it. It is one pf the more visually appealing options and quite the prformer. Granted, it has taken a back seat to the FlowerPot, but that is simply a matter of concentrates and take-down laziness.

For your needs you can't go wrong with a log.
