Discontinued The Grasshopper

The Stainless Steel and the Titanium ones each start from 0000, and the Stainless Steel ones have been well in the 5-digits more than a year ago. My recently repaired is 11,000-ish and was bought by the shop from VDN in Spring/Summer last year. *Allegedly VDN bought them from HL a while before that, it was an "older" charge they gave to shops at a discount, when they got a "better" charge from HL (* at least that's what my local shop told me)

Also, this may appear a bit pettifogging, but I would rather see the expression "failure rate" used correctly, as in number of faulty units per 1000 or whatever relation, and that number we can only guess. Of course it's a fncked up experience to see >20 repairs on one unit but it still doesn't say too much about the general failure. If that was in any way representative, how could they have survived the first year of existence? They may even have the worst reliability of all vapes, any investor would have cut the losses if it was as dramatic as many here suggest.

Bad (or good) thing is, this unit gets people hooked on it like not many other do.

Could this mean that my ti hopper with the serial number in the 5000 range is an old unit before the upgrades or could it have been an old backend on a newer body it didn't have the one click on from auto shut off. Is there another way to tell if it has the newer components? I'm almost sure it had a blue coloured screen behind the steel one in the oven. I was assured it was the newest version. This could explain my strait to blue lights problem as I'm guessing it was the temp sensor that packed it. I remember reading somewhere that they had moved the temp sensor to avoid this issue?
It's covered for the first 6 months by Namaste vapes but if I'm just going to have it replaced with old stock for 6 months then I finally have to send it to hopper labs from the UK for a unknown amount of months until I get the newer parts I think I'll see how this replacement goes and if it has problems I'm going to ask for store credit.

To go off topic slightly I was looking at the haze square and I'm just wondering if any hopper owners have one can they comment on the heat up time and the smell from the unit when not in use. As these are the 2 main reasons I went with the hopper.

"I know there are a lot that favour micro-dosing and consuming smaller amounts, but I find for my situation and medical needs, 1.5-3g per day, or the equivalent in concentrates is what I require to stay balanced, productive, healthy, and happy. Over the last 15-20 years, this is always where I balance out. Less is not as effective, and disaster soon follows, and more just wastes.

To consume 1.5-3g @.075 per bowl, that would be 20-40 bowls per day ... that is a lot of packing/unpacking to do!!!!! At any rate, a response that suggests that I may find I need less, suggests to me that this would likely not be a vape for me :)"

Damn , Boy , excuse , didn't know you need such a lot ! My average is 0.2/0.3 per day , about 8 grams per 1 month. Maybe a little more when I had my Grasshopper , but anyway not more than 0.5 ...In your case yes , you need something more capient , I agree.

Not sure how that would work.
Like those compressed air cans? Wouldn’t it blow it inside ?
Yes, a compressed air can. I occasionally blow mine out.... take out battery and blow out battery area, take off PFE and blow out bowl, then blow air into each of the air holes.

That seems to eliminate a lot of dust that you can’t get out otherwise. I don’t do it often, but only occasionally (no set schedule).

(...) why do those guys feel the need to talk about their great working units but NO ONE (or at least less than 5 that I've seen on here) feels the need to talk about their flawless hopper experience?

Good question and there are probably many different answers. Personally, I just don't care to rub my good fortune in anyone else's face. With so many dissatisfied users it would feel like gloating.

This^, I'm definitely not here to gloat, and although I lurk this thread quite a lot, I rarely post as I have little to report except to say that my early Hopper (004XXX) is still going strong.
I've never even registered it (yet).
I'm not attempting to defend HL , the Hopper or say anything about failure rates.
I'm just reporting my single 'data point' FYI.

I felt the same way with my Ti GH working wonderfully and consistently for 18 months....then it died. That really ain't too bad though the RMA repair process was a bit of a cock-up and required a Mulligan.

But I do know a guy who has 24 RMAs with GH. He posted a pic of his My Hopper page that shows them all. That's extreme, but multiple RMAs and RMA returns that either don't work right (my case) or quickly fail again (many cases) are here to be seen.

Have a great day, folks

compressed air contains a bitterant that may be toxic if inhaled, I would not use that on a vape's heater or chamber as I asked this question to the forum for myself before and was scared off from ever doing that... @Rel2018

Great...
Just brought 1 home and sprayed. Now what?

Oof you can try burning it off but I don't know more than what I said. You can try to find my original question for more resource but what's done is done... Sorry dude

I've been meaning to send my hopper in for a new replacement but hasn't seemed like it is the right time to do so yet. Haven't used it in months maybe even almost a year now

I hoping Hopper Labs aren't in too much trouble. . . The significant number of promotional emails I've had from them over the last month or so might suggest a cash flow issue?
I'm hoping they survive and eventually sort this product out. For their own benefit as well as that of all the vaporists out there. Fingers crossed for everyone involved :)

I was at Hopper Labs on Friday, I am very self interested in their keeping going and they’re not going anywhere!

I emailed them this morning about the shipping time on the spare body I ordered. They responded in less than 5 minutes with an email explaining everything for me and that it would be shipped out this week. So lets see if they hold to that. but with the speed at which they answered my email, I was pleased.

Hi everyone how are you all. I received my replacement hopper today and it's very different from my first one. I can clearly see the blue screen with the 3 blobs and a the temp sensor behind the silver screen. it also doesn't feature the one click on from auto shut off. The temp dail is completely smooth on this one my last unit would unscrew the backend while trying to adjust the temp. I think It's definatly old stock as the back end is in the early 5000s just a few less than my rma unit.
The performance seems great very dark abv at 5 and nice thick vapour at 3.

I have noticed that the ghb2 that came with the unit is a lighter colour than my spares but more alarmingly it has like a dirt under the wrapping as if it wasn't cleaned properly before wrapping. At least I'm hoping that's what as I'm worried it's leaked and started to corrode from being in the unit in the box for so long. I done a few burn offs and took a few hits before i took the battery out and seen it. So at least I know it's working okay. Do you folks think I should send the battery back I mean if it's just a dirt I'm fine with it. Sorry for the long post

Did you order a new body or did you send yours in for replacement?

Mine is running cold so I bought a spare body off the site, hopefully should ship soon, and I will see if that fixes the problem. If not I'll have to send my entire unit in for service. :/

just celebrated 2 years with my Hopper yesterday!

:)

i've been lucky enough to have never experienced any problems with this device since the day i got it. it's been my daily driver and has performed flawlessly. i want people to know that there are 100% functioning Hoppers out there in the wild and inject some positive feedback into this thread. i'm hoping in another year i can report back here with the same good news because i absolutely love this thing and would love to see this company work out their issues and make others as happy as they've made me.
