@NewVape710 After all this exciting macor stuff recently and excuse my lack of knowledge here but is SiC machineable? Surely if it’s like the 2nd/3rd best tasting dab surface (after ruby and sapphire) it would make a good airpath that wouldn’t impart any flavour difference and potentially allow even lower temps?

I have no idea if it can be machined though and I’d imagine it would be expensive but I’m thinking full SiC vrod with no need for dish changing?

Silicon carbide is nearly as hard as diamond, it would be incredibly laborious to machine such a part to tolerance, if even possible. The threading would be especially complicated. That's what MACOR has going for it, it can be easily threaded to create these fittings that just aren't possible with other materials.

Oh fair enough that makes sense. So in which case are the SiC dishes moulded?

I think freezing works better than heating but sometimes you need to resort to desperate measures.

Have you tried spit, or lube, or spit lube? :p I'm just saying, my 20mm banger gets stuck sometimes and a little drop of saliva of all things pops it right off.

Jcat is your Flowerpot actually getting dirty inside? I've never seen a drop of reclaim on my Showerhead or Vrod ever.
No, it's not getting dirty inside. (still have an obsessive need to check it ... and really, really, really bothers me that my coil is stuck in there)

Maybe put some anti seize on it, it must have got bound up or something when threading but thats just my 2 cents

Mine was stuck for a day. I posted in here and I finally got it off. I boiled it in a pot of hot water. I held it so I would not damage the enail. after the boiling water I used rubber gloves and my hands to unscrew it. A big rubber band and a wrench will work best. I could not unscrew it so i dipped it in a iso bath for a few hours. I repeated this process a few times and managed to unscrew it with the rubber gloves. It just came unstuck. So you soaked and boiled the coil too?

That was my immediate thought but wonder about any off-gassing of the anti-seize during use? Anybody have any insights. It is, after all, what anti-seize was made for, yeah?
I feel like you could leave it on for awhile or wash it and it would burn off and be good to go

...taken from the first 'anti-sieze' MSDS google gave me (https://www.permatex.com/wp-content/uploads/tech_docs/sds/01_USA-English/80078.pdf)

Yep....that's what I was thinking. I sold my '89 Softail Harley a couple of years ago (I'm 65 and live in DC where the drivers are morons so...) and my buddy had a Harley shop and I would work on my bike there. Just from that experience, I didn't cotton too much to the idea of anti-seize.

@NewVape710 - Edwyn, do you have any suggestions for an anti-seize type product that we could safely use to keep the parts of our heaters from sticking together? I don't think this is unique to FP, I have had issues getting my Ti Liger apart also and just wondering if you knew of a non-toxic and safe product that could be used. Thanks

I would not recomend any anti seize. It's more likely there's a bur associated with the thread / ramp feature that's come loose and sized up the parts. Please email support@newVape.com to address these issues. We modified this thread a while back to correct this problem. My advice is to either send it in for us to repair or replace, or use it until the next upgrade.

I'm working on a list of various enail manufactures pinouts.

I'll post this finished document on our blog when I'm done.

Can everyone help me add the ones that are missing.

Here's are the pinouts exiting the control box (the coils will be reversed)

NewVape
1 - ground
2 - Thermocoupler
3 - Thermocoupler
4 - Power
5 - Power

Gimido
1 - Power
2 - Power
3 - Thermocoupler
4 - Thermocoupler
5 - ground

Dnail & HighFive
1 - Thermocoupler
2 - Thermocoupler

Hi Edwyn - this is not correct for D-nail. For D-nail is just like you have listed for Gimido and seems to be used by a whole lot of other folks.

D-nail
1 - Power
2 - Power
3 - Thermocoupler +
4 - Thermocoupler -
5 - ground

From my experience, this seems to be the most common interface layout.

Now, I can't confirm what Gimodo uses but I do know from their site that on their best box they use a four pin, mini-XLR without a ground (and kind of why I bought a different controller at the time).

From their site:

"Best Quality Enail with Coil and 4pin mini XLR"

Ooops, found where Gimodo specs their pin outs and they are kind of all over the place:

"For normal 5pin XLR, the wiring as below:
Pin1, pin2 are power for coil.
Pin3, TC+;
Pin4, TC-;
Pin5, Ground;

For mini 4pin XLR, the wiring as below:
Pin1,Pin3 are power for coil.
Pin2, TC+;
Pin4, TC-;

For mini 5pin XLR, the wiring as below:
Pin1,Pin4 are power for coil.
Pin2, TC+;
Pin3, TC-;
Pin5, Ground;

For 16mm AVI Plug, the wiring as below:
Pin1, TC-;
Pin2, TC+;
Pin3, Ground;
Pin4,Pin5 are power for coil."

I hope this is somewhat helpful to you.

I'm just not comfortable putting solvents on it unless I know 100% what's in them (ie. like 99% ISO which is ISO and 1% distilled water ...)

I did e-mail support earlier today (through the web page, but I imagine it works out to the same thing :) )

I'm currently still using it ... will likely have a D-Nail base by next week as well so that should tide me over (so I still have a SiC solution) if I have to send it in for repair :(

I also e-mailed about the VROD rev C upgrade (since I'm a first revision ... which I like because I like the hole in the middle ...)

Not sure what other solution there is though apart from sending it in for repair ... :( I can't disassemble it to just send in the top half after the upgrade, and can't remove my coil (that I've already changed the end on to High5 XLR). I'll miss it though as I just got the glass bowl and am enjoying the setup with my 2 different water pieces for flower and concentrate ... (and I'm up pretty close to the polar bears, literally, so shipping takes time! :lol: )

What's up guys, so I jumped on the bandwagon today and grabbed the flowerpot with showerhead starter kit. But somehow I keep feeling like I got jerked. Not by Newvape, I feel like I may have jerked myself. So now I see the Vrod is the new system, but when I checked the comparison on the website it stated that Showerhead is for predominantly flowers and Vrod was for predominantly concentrates. I'm about 75% flower and 25% concentrates so I figured I would go with the showerhead right? And also the Showerhead was the more expensive kit so in my head it has to be the better kit right? But now I'm seeing that the Vrod is the better "and" newer system. Also the Vrod is better for flowers and concentrates. Should I have gotten the Vrod? And why would it be cheaper if it is the "newer, better" system? Why not just eliminate the showerhead if the Vrod is so much better? Do you guys think Newvape will let me exchange it? I don't even want a refund, they can keep the difference. If the Vrod is the better system, I just want the better system. The site is just a tad bit misleading in their description. If they would have said the Vrod does flowers just as good, I would have grabbed that one but I'm only at 25% concentrates so I went with what the described was for flowers. Boy...... I hate it when this happens :doh:

I think in the moment u r also doing dabs and dont want any other vapes beside the Flowerpot
the VROD will be the better choice....as for now i feel the Showerhead is for people that ONLY use it for flower
and have something else for concentrates :)

But thats just my opinion :)
