Why drink water when other drinks are so much tastier?

one of my friends drinks a ton of plain water. Every time I see him do this I just shake my head. Why drink this flavorless stuff when delicious drinks such as grape juice, colas, and beer exist? Why limit yourself to plain old water when so many tasty juices are also made from water but offer the added flavor? Am I missing something here?

Water is great. I prefer it. Don’t want the added sugars and garbage one can get from the drinks you listed. I do drink beer Friday - Sunday though. But during the week is mainly water. One night I was drinking Dr. Pepper while vaping. A random occurrence as of the last few years and I got the worst carbonation stuck in my chest. Like I couldn’t get the burb out even after making myself burn continuously for an hour. Even went on a walk with my dog. And then 2 hours later I burbed. And it was one of those warm ones where you feel the fizz all through your chest, throat, nose, and mouth as you exhale. Only enjoy water as I vape and fuck I got mad pasties right now.

Just so Dab HAppy!
I like my pallate clean like my nail. I drink a ton of ice cold water. I find it refreshing to not have a lingering taste in my mouth. I never cared for the 30min-old-juice-saliva and cotton-mouth mixture.

I do drink a lot of Beer too though!

Water does not introduce unnecessary sugars, artificial flovors, corrosive phosphoric acid, alcohol, caffeine and carbs. Water is more hydrating in its pure form and is much healthier to consume than all of your alternatives, generally.

Some people can't tolerate these ingredients because of sensitivities, allergies or the extra calories they contain. For a person with a damaged pancreas, for example, every one of those ingredients would be strictly prohibited.

Good clean water is delicious and thirst quenching. Yumm! On a hot day I can pour some over my face to quickly cool down.

I mostly just drink water but I do also drink Matcha tea, Turmeric milk, Cocoa, Coconut water and very occasionally a good strong coffee.

Almost there...

Each to his/her own i guess!
I only drink water these days, no juices, no carbonated drinks and almost no alcohol.
Why? Coke is bad for our bodies, leaches calcium from your bones and is an excellent rust remover!
For me there is nothing quite like a cool glass of fresh water!
I do have a tea every night as well! No coffee for me thanks!

Most water is filled with tasteless chemicals these days. Bottled water has all types of plastics (BPA isn't the only plastic that is bad for you). Tap has Chlorine, Lead, Fluoride (in the US, not sure about other countries), Arsenic at times and tons of other chemicals that are less than satisfying to your health.

All this aside, I'd rather drink cold tap water over most other drinks on the market today. First, because I'm a cheap ass. Second, because I could always go for a stick of gum if I want flavor in my mouth. A pack lasts alot longer than a drink that costs close to the same price. Gotta love bein cheap <3

I’m not sure if this is jest or not.

I will say that although I have mostly avoided sugary sodas I still drank a lot of diet sodas. Anymore if I want something sweet I’ll use mio drops or drink zevia. But often it’s water with tru lemon or tru lime.

Once felt and behaved like OP. Then came kidney stones, then gout. Gout is motivational. You'll do anything to avoid that pain. Still, drink mainly tart cherry juice, which is supposed to help gout.

These conditions aren't classic sensitivities. They developed after years of drinking mainly beer. Maybe they could have been avoided by drinking more water.

when i kept a routine of flavored drinks in my diet (all of them) i too had a hard time understanding why ppl could drink tasteless liquid non stop, so damn boring. once you source yourself a clean water alternative to tap or bottles and give it a couple months its hard to go back to drinking chemicals as your means of hydration.

Same here. I take a pill with water in the morning, otherwise I never drink it. People can be pretty weird about it for some reason.

Water can be refreshing, but it fails to hydrate my cells the way Powerade does. I slam one of those blue fountain drinks packed with ice from Cumberland farms when it is hot. Morale soars and I am happy again!

Powerade drinks have a lot of sugar but also electrolytes.

Can't help it:

I'm with the water drinkers here, I think it's what's best for us. I don't like any artificial stuff in my drinks, and if you need (as in you're a pro-sport person) electrolytes, just drink apple juice 50/50 with water, it's got all the sodium/potassium and glucose you need. Apple spritzer (1 pt Juice, 2 pt water) is also great low-calory drink. Most fruit juices cannot be diluted to a tasteful spritzer, so they tend to have as many calories as a soft drink. Any sugar alternative I ever tried fncks with my bowels and/or tastes poisonous to me.

I'm with the thread starter, here. I love beer and other flavored beverages. The thing is, I also love ice cold purified water because it's so refreshing and does taste good, but man I crave flavor!

I am not drinking beer right now, which just got replaced with a bunch of orange juice lol. I'm trying to cut back to water, but it's hard. I got a Gatorade today instead of packing a water. By the time I drink it at work, it'll not be ice cold, and I need flavor if it's not super cold

Diluted apple juice or any real fruit juice reduces the amount of sugar you are consuming. Adults only need 32 grams of sugar daily, which is the amount in one bottle of a sports drink. Hydration is so important to all of our bodily functions. Dehydration is the leading cause of headaches, and all of us consume to much sugar which causes inflammation. WATER is key to a healthy life.
