Discontinued The Grasshopper

Agreed jcat. Hopper is one (when the batteries are fresh ) vape I like to take over to the smokers .they like it because of just what you said...a properly working one will pump out clouds until the load is done or the shutoff or lungs give out. These 5 gen 2 batts I have are still working but no where near as good as when first Vought. Been putting off ordering more because I gobestly don't know when or if they will be shipped. Wish there was another source of these proprietary batts lol.

Maybe I will give that a try at home. But even at 5 through a water pipe I can't get it to really fill up the bong with vapor and it still takes many clears to get it done.
Nah, doesn't sound like mine. I get full extraction in max 3-4 tokes, when I pack about 150 mg of really sticky material. You should probably send it in.

So you guys know what I'm tasting/extraction I get with the GH you've been there..

Is the mighty a good complementry vape?
Was going the solo2 route but not for me and the GH has me spoiled

Thoughts?

If it requires finesse to milk a bong, then the Hopper is NOT working properly ... whether it is acceptable is up to each individual, but if one can't milk a bubbler, and can't cache a bowl in 1-3 hits, then either you have horrible lung capacity and that is the issue, or the Hopper isn't right.

The most frequent problem with Hoppers for me is that the heater seems to "give up". On a properly working Hopper, it will continue to thicken the vapour throughout the draw (after the initial 5 sec or so heating of the load). When they are performing poorly, and requiring many pulls to finish a bowl (and even then not vaped evenly/completely), it's like the heater starts out ok for the first few seconds, and then "gives up" ... since I can only get the heater to put out decent output for ~5 seconds, it takes many draws to finish a bowl, as just when it is getting going, it stops producing enough heat. (this is what is happening currently with my Ti .. my SS is working properly except that it goes to flashing reds often just before the end of my draw, and it gets too hot in the back-end, so presumably there is a poor connection somewhere causing a voltage drop that is resulting in excess heat ...)

Anyways ... I personally have no interest in a Hopper that takes 6-7 draws to improperly vape a chamber ... I have many other vapes that will work better as a session vape then the Hopper ... as an on-demand heavy hitter, like a desktop, that's portable, Hopper stands alone; so if my Hopper can't be a heavy hitter, and I have to "finesse" it ... then it's not filling the spot in my lineup that it is intended to ...

Grind style, moisture content, etc., etc. can all play a part for sure ... but a properly performing Hopper is extremely tolerant and will do as well with herb as any other vaporizer (portable or desktop) in terms of quick/massive cloud production. If it isn't keeping up with your heavy hitting desktops, and can't be used as effortlessly, then you are fooling yourself if you think it is working properly. Is the way it's working acceptable to you? That I can not determine; but it is definitely not working right.

Based on this, I guess I am going to have to send mine in. Fuck

This is a very accurate description of my experiences with a Hopper that is exhibiting sub-par performance.

I have 4 Hoppers, but only 3 in rotation (I haven't used my Ti Hopper that I ordered in February yet). Sometimes when using my early model Ti or SS Hoppers I experience a first draw that matches the description above. It's pretty rare, but it seems to happen randomly, and it seems to happen more frequently with my (oldest) SS model. I can tell when it's happening during the draw. The second draw usually produces a big cloud, as expected.

On a separate, but related topic, my oldest SS model (purchased 7/2016) has what I would consider a "wonky" back end. It is very difficult to turn the temp dial without pressing down on it. Sometimes I have to apply a lot of pressure to activate the clicker (on or off). Sometimes it takes almost 10 seconds to go from red to blue. And sometimes I get the "heater giving up" symptoms.

I've tried a lot of things to get it working right, including pressing the temp dial down and rapidly turning it back and forth (with the back end unscrewed from the body).

Recently, however, it seems that pressing the temp dial down and turning it may be adversely affecting the back end. I have turned the dial to 1, then turned it to 4 without pressing it down. Now I adjust it between 3.75 and 5 during use, but I never press the temp dial down. Since I've done that it has been working great. It goes from red to blue in ~4 seconds, delivers huge hits on 4, and can really char the ABV if I push it (multiple hits on 5 after 4-6 hits on 4).

Since everything about the Hopper is still somewhat of a mystery to me, I can't be sure that what I've done actually fixed the issue, or if I'm just on a lucky streak of good Hopper performance. But for now my oldest SS model with the once "wonky" back end is my best performer!

I'm mainly using the GH and the Mighty nowadays after my Fireflies started acting up too much.
I only use the Mighty at home as it's quite big. I started using the GH with a bong and now do it regularly.
The Mighty always delivers and punches exactly as i want it to do.
The GH gets me huge clouds and hits with a bong and still tastes smooth (first 2 hits). I like them as a team and don't feel like i need another vape. For now. :)

Very hard to comprehend your grammar.
I'm sorry wasn't very good in grammar school and I love to use run on sentences.
Basically I'm asking advice on a vape that pairs well with the GH .. I want something That extracts all the goods and tastes great. I figure if we all have experienced the GH (top notch vapor/flavor) someone would have advice on a secondary vape when I have the need to switch things up a bit ..

Hope that makes sense

Fury2 is a great and reasonably priced compliment to the gh

Meh have owned 3 and a rebrand (hippie rebel) flavor is off but other then that good suggestion. GH flavor is untouched by any foreign smell/taste. Idk what it was but fury tasted a bit funky. IQ if it didn't have the hidey hole that's such a pita to clean. I like the idea of a custom vapor path. Feels like I'm at the end of my vapor trail.

I wish I never lost the original mouthpiece! :( the pfe has more restriction and eye much prefer a free flowing setup. Has anyone tried replacing the installed screen with another ?

I'm almost certain the PFE is less restrictive but it does get hotter and not recommended for native use without something to cool it.

I've been mixing shatter into my GH bowls for out-and-about and it knocks the pants off of me using temps 2-3. It doesn't get quite as hot using the lower temps but still gets warm after several pulls.

The rma drama continues. Got my replacement hopper within a week from Verdampftnochmal. Serial 0123xx with a soft to turn backend and a great performance. Too bad it only lasted 2 bowls. Now it shows red light only and turns off rapidly. What a bummer, my 2 bowls with it were a pleasure.

I ordered a spare body from Hopperlabs, hoping it lasts longer then 2 bowls.

Yes and believe it or not I was thinking about that same thing today. I think the Milaana pairs nicely with a Grasshopper. It offers a different experience but the quality and flavour are great. Sorry for being a grammar nazi. My bad.

Trates in the GH? I wouldn't have the courage to do that. Risk of oills running into the heater part is too high IMO

I know that VDNM is waiting since one year for new hoppers. Therefore all they still have in stock are old models!

I got my hopper back today. It came with a new charger and 4 total batteries, one in the device and 3 in the box. Once the maintenance people are done with their inspections and whatnots I will test it out. I am eagerly looking forward to this.

I found myself cleaning it more often than the original mouthpiece, but then it has less resistance imo

Use the cosmic power of gravity ;) - as long as it's upright, what could happen? Haven't I read about folks using it with cotton + concentrates?

Ok. Guys.

Hopper Labs delivered for me. I told them I missed a trip already and was going on another one. I would really like to have the hopper for that trip. I told them I needed it by July 20th. I got it today. To be honest, they’ve had my hopper since February 2nd so I wasn’t jumping the line like crazy. My first trip was in April that I missed.

Anyhow, backend serial is the same. Body is not but don’t know exactly. It could be.

Anyhow, put that baby on 4 and never needed to go higher. Milked my hydrabase / hydratube combo like crazy.

I’m ready for San Francisco :-)

So all in all, a little rocky with Hopper, but everything turned up aces.

What features are you looking for? Hard to give you a recommendation when you are so vague.

Sorry I moved the discussion to a different thread to avoid cluttering up this thread. Also an update -have the mighty inbound. Looking for flavor /extraction in a session portable .. plastic turned me off but I'm going to gain my own perspective in a few days
