Marc Emery was extradited to the US

Sadly I have to write that Marc Emery was handed over to US officials (if not immediately, then very soon as the extradition order was signed by our 'justice' minister). He's getting a five year federal sentence in the US because he sold seeds (yup MJ seeds) via mail order and some of these seeds happened to enter the US. So, depsite the fact that a) selling seeds in Canada is not a crime, b) Marc has never entered the US and c) he employed no one in the US, our government has handed him over.

Got another one for ya; under current bill S-10 you could be sentenced to a 2 year term for making hash or edibles. Yeah, you read that correctly....2 years for frigging brownies. And now that the conservatives have stacked our senate.

Ah bugger, not a good day.

Ah, laws that make you wish for anarchy. If there is any sort of justice dealt out after life, the ppl who waste YEARS of other peoples lives and put them through all the hostility and danger of a prison environment for doing nothing harmful or unnatural will be made to suffer. Justice IS making sure that the punishment fits the crime, and this isn't even a fucking crime. People get less time for rape, this is so fucked up.

In my province in July/2008 some guy cut off the head of an 18 year old when travelling on a Greyhound bus. The murderer was, as expected found not guilty by reason of insanity. So he's in the hospital now, evaluated year by year for full release and is currently let out on escorted day pass.

And he gets less jail time than Marc Emery.

I wrote my MP, but a fat lot of good that will do (he's conservative, part of the minority government and I've already contacted his office regarding this case).

I'm really feeling shitty about Canada at the moment.

While I am a firm believer in karma, and think this is a good healthy dose of it coming back to bite him in the ass.....this is definetly a BIG set back for those in the industry, and the movement in general.

However, him being locked up...means no more acts of reckless abadondment, coming from such a high profile person. So that could actually be a good thing.

Gotta love living in Alberta eh? I'm pretty stoked to get out of Oil Country in the next while. I thought it was pretty sweet living in Canada but it's not much better than anywhere else these days. Fucking corruption everywhere. It's too bad officials are just too fucking lazy to change laws, too much effort and money. They waste the money that could be spent on fixing these laws and choose to spend it on putting innocent people through the judiciary system and keeping them in prison with the murderers and pedophiles.

This has really gotten under my skin , I cannot believe my government .To just hand someone over on such bogus trumped up charges . This so called war on drugs is just about trying to look good in the political forum. Extradition was sought on charges of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, conspiracy to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to engage in money laundering , the real crime is Marc being bullied into a guilty plea to conspiracy to manufacturing marijuana , for selling seeds. And what does our lovely Canadian government do to help its people , it bends over and say's "c'mon Obama give it to me " I am truly embarrassed to be a Canadian

Yeah I knew about it before it happened, I know people who know him personally, it is horrible what they are doing to him. There are ways to help him out though, here is what his wife posted for people to do:

Help Free Marc Emery! Marc Emery's initial activism orders, via Jodie Emery:

1) Make a sign that says "America Must FREE MARC EMERY" and stand on a street corner for 2 hours this weekend. Just use a big piece of paper and a felt marker, or print a sign on your computer. If you truly support and want to help me, you need to help spread the word about my imprisonment in the USA.

2) Plan a protest where you live for SATURDAY, MAY 22 - the global "Free Marc Emery" rally. Information will be posted at www.CannabisCulture.com soon, so keep checking back for updates.

3) Go to www.CannabisCulture.com for updates, information, and ways to help (such as the list of "75 Things You Can Do to Free Marc Emery").

4) Vote against the Conservative Party in Canada and support the opposition parties. Donate to the candidate in your riding who is most likely to replace/defeat your Conservative Member of Parliament. Support my wife Jodie Emery for the Green Party of Canada! www.JodieForMP.ca

This is 100% from his Facebook profile written by his while Jodie Emery.

Its all horse shit, boys. You know it. I know it. They know it.

It does us no good talking about it here, amongst us. The only thing that will help is time...and its SLOWLY happening...right here in my home state. Come November we'll see whats going to happen. If the MMJ movement is any pre cursor, well, then sweet.

But don't get me started on this Marc Emery business. I have had my legal run in with the law and herb. I got arrested for having 1 hash brownie...bought from a clinic...that I a patient had...that was bought using my MEDICAL card.

I am now $18,000+ in debt (mostly attorney fees, but I'll probably hit 20K before its over). If I am convicted, I will get a felony and will recieve no aid for school (there goes the aspiration of being a Mechanical Engineer) and of course have a tarnished record for LIFE.

I have never been in a fight. I like to fly remote control airplanes and play video games. Oh and I did get one detention in high school...for going reverse in the parking lot in my car (guess you can't do that...stupid rule). I know I know....why didn't they lock me up earlier?

Crazy world.

a lot of this stuff is happening all over the world, where government and politicians implement draconian laws under the guise of protecting the public from the 'evil drug'. and the more illegal the herb is, the more "under the table" money the authorities can make too.

in my country, you get a heavier penalty for having a cannabis plant than from raping an underaged kid. so while it may be fun n chilling when i am toking, i try not to forget that a slip-up could cost me my freedom & my future.

yeah, it sucks.
