Discontinued Glass Symphony XLR

StormyPinkness

Rhymenocerous ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
@StormyPinkness thanks for sharing again and saving me some time and disappointment for when I have a crack at my Sphere. I may try on part vinegar to 2 parts distilled water though first and see if that can get rid of the stubborn water mark.
Failing that- bicarb then ISO.
For regular bubbler cleaning I will use ISO. I have followed all your reports so far, including the diffetent cycles you do but I may have misunderstood. I think from what I gathered (or imagined, I do this lol!) you maybe were doing a cycle with re-used "first run" ISO, then another with cleaner ISO after a water rinse invetween. That makes sense but I could have gotten mixed up or remembered it wrong, I will go back and check your posts again though.

I do re-use my ISO but may do 2 runs like this. I soaked my FC 186 in ISO and salt recently, but on rinsing I obviously didn't rinse all of the salt out of the percs and I ended up with salt marks on the inside of the bubbler which I kind of like watermarks now and have not come out with subsequent ISO cleaning. So I will have a go at that as well not sure what fluid for that purpose at the moment.

Thanks for pioneering and reporting back for us @StormyPinkness
It's weird, so many people love using distilled water I feel like I somehow didn't do it right...

You have it right, I iso in a "dirty bag", water rinse, iso in a "clean bag", water rinse. The bowls actually come out of the dirty bag clean looking, they just have a sticky film on them. A rinse in a clean bag fixes that. I save the clean bag for next time and make it the new dirty bag.

I will say this has never gotten rid of some hard water marks in mine. I used tap water when I first got it and I've never been able to get rid of the rings it left in there.

I do think it worked for those guys because it was hot. I'll bet if you heat up the water before doing the sonic cleaning it works better :) I may try myself, but I've been saving up to do some vaporizer stem milk so it might be a while before I get a chance.
I'll try heating it up to boiling before the sonic cleaning, should be easy enough.

is this the same one you suggested to me?

My cheapy one is plastic:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HLBKNOY/

iSonic P4820-SPB25

It has a heater. It can hold:
7 stadium bowls
or
the handle, 3way adapter, and a bowl

Since the lid is plastic it is a little quieter than my metal one.

If you want to spend more look for something that does 35,000 hz or less. A drain is also nice to have, on the one above you will need to unplug it and turn it over a sink if you don't use bags.

https://techblog.ctgclean.com/2013/09/ultrasonic-frequency-25khz-vs-40khz/

Isn’t it a beautiful beast ✌
I think it is! If you are gonna go glass, go big and beautiful (and low cost to repair).

Failing that- bicarb then ISO
I used to love ISO and now I don't trust it. I once could only find contaminated bottles from all my local stores- the shit has been sitting in plastic bottles for who knows how long. Liquinox wins for me.

ISO test: Put ISO in a wine glass and pour out. Next put the glass on the side. Put some ISO in it and allow it to dry. If you see spots your ISO is dirty.
ISO is known to leave a residue:
https://hmc.usp.org/sites/default/files/documents/HMC/GCs-Pdfs/c467.pdf

I know I can smell things if the last rinse is just iso. I am heating it up though so it is more telling.

I'll bet if you heat up the water before doing the sonic cleaning it works better
The heater on the ultrasonic cleaner does provide more kick. I tend to leave it off if I am using an ultrasonic cleaner to rinse. If there is anything off about the water the heat will make things worse.

Speaking of rinsing. If you want to be super-snoby, there is a water that is just HO, not H20. When the stuff is exposed to air it changes to pure water. ASTM type 3 is what a lab would use. ASTM type 2 is what a drug manufacturer would use. ASTM type 1 is what NASA would use to wash something.

To rinse I use: tap water rinse -> distilled bucket dip-> DI water bucket dip

Fuck Vaporizer Combustion
This vape is fantastic, IMO. I keep meaning to post about how much I’m enjoying it, but then I use it and melt my mind for a while. My husband came home from golfing today and I was holding in the air like a (glass) symphony conducting wand and all I could get out was, “this vaporizer makes me very happy”.

The funnel bowl is my favorite so far because it seems like the load is nice and close to the heat source and the coarse screen + fine screen keep “particulate matter” contained impressively well.

I agree with those that have said that Roor Vapor bubbler is a great match for this vape. The base is so wide and the GonG downstem being centered over the base makes for a very stable setup. Having a 14mm female glass taper joint for the mouthpiece connection is handy because it’s possible to exchange mouthpieces for the height of your furniture or for sitting vs. standing use. This Sheldon Black XL mouthpiece is the one I get the most use out of:
https://sheldonblack.com/collections/all-products/products/sherlock-mouthpiece-extra-long-14mm

The Mobius Clear Matrix bubbler is my personal fave and most-used glass over the last five years, mostly with the EVO (inverted as they used to advertise as a feature) + “Cloud Buddy” aka Claisen adapter. The Glass Symphony doesn’t require or benefit from an added carb IMO, so I used an 18mm dropdown instead. It’s been a few years since this piece was widely available but it was pretty popular here in its day and inspired a lot of clones so maybe others have one still hanging around or similar? The GS is every bit as delightful as the EVO through this piece so if you have one, give it a try!

That.
That is exactly what is happening to me since I received the Glass Symphony XLR!
Pure potent and flavorful extraction, in one breath.
I have several desktop vaporizer, but the GS is the smoothest one !
One thing I want to add, it is a pleasure to communicate and do business with @jojo monkey :tup:

@Joaon

So happy to see you have a GS and love it!!!
Welcome aboard!! Bit late...:D

How would you compare it to your Herbo Ti?
I ask because I had both and kept the GS because of the bowl heating with the Herbo Ti.
The GS is what I had hoped the Herbo Ti would be but it never came close for me.
I really hated having to preheat the bowl for those massive hits.
The same or better that the GS does with a cold bowl.

Can I just take a minute to second that, please? I broke some of my glass and they were great to work with, then again recently I cracked some glass where no crack should ever be(?!?) and again, just a pleasure to work with and humbly honoring repeat business...truly a great experience!

As far as the vape goes, it's my number one flower vape. I use it more than any other for just flower, and I like to use the old fine screen under a normal screen trick myself. I also bought some of the Glass disc honeycomb screens for the glass mesh bowl and it rocks with no mess now as well, just be careful when you tap it out ;)

Like I told the guys, hope they really knock it out of the park!

My wife has a low tolerance for coughing, but a really high tolerance for thc. It's hard to get her medicated without sending her into coughing fits or needing to take a million light hits. The funnel bowl at 710/720 did the trick, she didn't cough or look uncomfortable at all and had a great nights sleep.

It's been good practice to figure out how to introduce it to my parents. My dad has been having liver problems and can't really drink anymore, I'm hoping he'll take to vaping.

Very nice Joaon. I was expecting some bouyant, light-hearted music too before I clicked "play" and you didn't disapppoint lol!
Nicd little setup too. I have considered the Rattle can before but not sure if I would like it. Carlos said originally in the Herborizer thread how it was his favourite glass piece out of dozens he tried for the Herbo Ti. After that though he gave up on water and went exclusively dry not looking back.

So I will have to keep it in mind for when the Digi- Ti (eventually) surfaces from down under :rip:.

Not long we hope. I think some said the Rattle can has some draw restriction to it possibly. Not what I go for usually but I appreciate it can be needed at times and preferred my many, to a degree.

I do have that TAG carb adapter though. Its very handy. I think the only thing I don't like about it is there is still quite some restriction when you clear it due to the 10mm opening, unlike a claissen with 18mm for example.

I use the EQ basket screen in the adapter to filter particles, but it builds reclaim and I can get an amazing sort of dab out it every few days before cleaning. Very nice and medicating indeed, a product of the Elev8r currently while I wait on Seb.:nope:

Anyway Joaon glad to see you are anjoying a other amazing vaporizer. I do wonder and would almost put money on this being in your eyes, your hardest hitting vape? I just like having fun with guesses and propositions no need to answer bro.;)
Keep enjoying, big respect always to @jojo monkey hope you are well bro and things are rolling pretty comfortably so far this year.

@Joaon

Love that setup you are rocking!
The carb is a great idea for clearing without removing the GS as well.

I noticed you loaded about 3 heaping scoops into your bowl, how do you find the flavor lasts packing a larger bowl?

I use an EQ basket screen and less than 0,1g per load for one hit that encompasses all the effects. I find that the flavor is much better due to the material only being exposed to heat once. I do sometimes use more and take a few hits but find it is not as flavorful.

Loving your IG account!

Thanks @lazylathe for the Cheers !

I confess that bowl was overload, just for good measures
But I always take the bowl in one (powerful) hit.
I'm now gonna begin micro-dose test sessions. Tolerance has clearly gone up.
Meh. Not tonight. Gonna grind another bowl ahah
Cheers !

Great tips on the glass MP and Mobius bubbler.

That.

'That' for me too. I've tried to write these replies 5 times now and got too vaked testing things out.

I've learned that any public post is a treat. Most folks are private and I get more reviews to my email than anywhere else.

I was just bragging about how nobody has broken a 3way(body) in over a year of selling the GS. I am glad it only cracked. I am thankful that we could turn a broken part into a pleasurable experience.

Thanks, juxt.

 Oh yeah! Thanks again.

I still need to try the honeycomb. Amazon had tiny ones when I looked. I have tried beads and a small circle of the fine mesh at the bottom.

I am building the park now.

Thanks, lazylathe. The baskets definitely yields a nice dense hit and I try the method often. Do you know how many people have asked me for baskets because of you! I might need to sell them. Sadly the fine mesh I use is so fine that it cannot be pressed into a shape.

I put lots of thought into how herb ramps up and down in temp and it is very validating to read this.

Fantastic pics! They make me want to vape in your room.

Talking about breaking a 3 way adapter... LOL!
I need to break mine apart and soak everything to give it a good cleaning!
My laziness and taking multiple hits without lifting the GS has resulted in some oil buildup.
Flavor has started to deteriorate so a cleaning is required!

Must buy ISO tomorrow!

Dang, despite all my best efforts I'm THAT guy...
I just broke a 45 degree adapter. Between your 3way and my 45 degree there is prob another chuckle and innuendo to be had.

I need to break mine apart and soak everything to give it a good cleaning!

I love that I can search back and see how often you've cleaned your GS. Thanks for documenting the whole process of owning the vape.

A couple of tips for cleaning. I am sure your process is down, more replying in general. I recently ran into the first issue with a new box of bags.

Cleaning tips:

Do not store the glass beads dry in a bag that can off-gas. Once heated it can produce a smell. Use glass or hard plastic for dry storage. If the container smells before you use it, it will pass it on. The smell can be cleaned out with a full cleaning or reduced by running the vape a few hours at 850F.

If any beads get stuck, use a wood stick won't scratch getting things loose. The wood skewers at the local grocery work for me.

If you do a water rinse, you can dry the vape by running it at a 350f/176c. Be sure to dry the heater/3way ground glass joint with a towel and the rest can dry with the heat. Don't go ti vaping temps until the glass is dry.

The GS glass heater can sit in a tall drinking glass to soak. There is no need to soak it past the ground glass joint. Be sure to keep the top of the heater dry.

Thanks for the tips and reminder, which I duly forgot and landed up with glass beads all over the floor...LMAO!!
I decided to take it all apart and really deep clean everything.
All soaked in ISO, then a wash in Orange Chronic and lastly a hot vinegar clean.
Quick to clean and reassemble as well!

I dried as much as I could and then started low and worked my way up to top temp.
If any slight condensation would build up, I would inhale and clear it up, dried crystal clear.

It is back to being 100% perfect again!!
Flavor is precise again and clouds are huge as always!

Something to note:
As you know I switched over to the micro bowl with an EQ screen and loved it!
I then discovered that adding another EQ screen inside the air outlet nozzle, focused the air stream better.
Today I tried it without any EQ baskets and noticed I had to inhale a lot harder and faster then with the EQ baskets. Also had to take 2 hits to finish the load. Everything else was the same.
Still very interested in an 18mm outlet 3 way adapter.

Definitely love this vape!
One small load, 0,07g and I am nicely medicated!

Uhm, is it just me not having a carb that keeps my beads clean or what? I have literally never cleaned them and they are all pretty clean. I do have to take my GS out of the bowl to carb, I have no other option, so maybe I don't get the backwash as the water cascades back into the airpath... I do have to clean the joint below the heater/beads a lot [sometimes I pack the bowls so full they push up into the 3 way stem ;)]

I do notice some condensation sometimes, like when I do a shotgun hit for someone and push air through instead of pull.

Usually I am a meticulous vaporist but lately I got a bit lazy and was not lifting the GS after a hit, so the vapor would flow through the GS... I had a lot of resin built up on the bottom of the handle joint...
I do not thin I have cleaned my GS prior to this and it is over a year old!
If you take care, only the bowl requires cleaning!

I was stoned and shopping for a new bubbler for my glass symphony when I settled on the one below. Looked big and sturdy and had a cool handle. Unfortunately I was too high to be worried about silly things like joint size or... size in general. At least it was fun breaking out my bangers again, I'll probably get an FC-UFO.

You have a Nov. 30 2017 post where you mention cleaning everything but the beads. So the beads have not been touched since you got GS No.1. Not bad, right?

This ties in with what @juxt was getting at:
I have literally never cleaned them and they are all pretty clean.

@Stu was nice enough to take a thermal image of the GS. (I hope you don't mind the copy since imgur is lame).

You can see why there can be build up at the edge first - it's evenly f'in hot. Well 464F on the outside in the pic.

I once did a test to see what would happen if I never cleared it and the build-up was everywhere.

glass beads all over the floor...LMAO!!
Phone lights can make 'em ez to find. They will sparkle. I am still proud of the fact the part that adds complexity to the GS is pretty much unbreakable - just don't lose 'em.

Careful shopping while high peoples.
Awe, bummer. I've done that too. Wise words.

They say "write drunk, edit sober". Maybe "make carts vaked, buy sober" should be a thing.

Update:
I've been taking some pics of the parts. Lighting glass was harder than I expected. The background was replaced so I am cheating a bit.
