Discontinued Lil' Bud by Vapwood

Impulsive impromptu video shot in the wee hours of Saturday morning, enjoy. No hemp fiber, instead, I moved the screen back up the stem another 1/4 inch or so. PS: too early for talking.
$(document).ready(function(){ $('div.95sYDdDUV9E').click(function(){ $(this).html(''); }); });

Just got chance watch it. Looks like some nice vapor production. Also you looked very well medicated in that one. Was that the same cherry that was light one dark other you posted before?

Just sold # 20 of batch 7. I've decided to extend the batch by 2 more. Been browsing for some more PH and QM, and I came across some Wenge. Very nice indeed. Usually an accent wood in furniture making, it's darker than even the darkest walnut.

Before I purchase PH, QM, or even possibly Wenge, I'd like to get an idea of interest.

If you were going out Lil' Bud shopping, which would you choose?

Cherry - Beautifully grained and textured. Perfectly suited to vape building. Cherry is like and old friend who gets better with age. My personal favorite.

Figured Walnut - Super popular wood, and I built lots of walnut furniture. It's where I realized Walnut's potential for gnarly, figured grain patterns that can be captured within the LB form. Very popular choice.

Purple Heart - Straight grained, rock hard, dense as hell. When you're holding a Purple Heart Lil' Bud, you know it. The deep, rich, purple color is not found anywhere else. Phenomenal looking vape that will get lots of attention.

Quilted Maple - What can you say about this, possibly the prettiest exotic hardwood. The exotic swirly grain patterns and texture changes are unparalleled in any other species. Light as a feather, hard as a rock, this unit is a head turner.

Wenge - Dark and dense, hard and heavy, I'd have to think this popular accent wood, would make a crazy nice vape. The almost black wood is also marked with lighter brown streaks. I think they'd make some nice LB's.

Mike way to stir the pot about all the wood choices! So many awesome choices one can not go wrong!

Where you ever in sales because you really do a good job at selling Lil Buds :suspicious:

To my Purple Heart and Quilted Maple Switch box guy (you know who you are), crazy nice choice.
That be me, actually its for the misses. Her birthday is coming up. Plus she'll keep her hands off mine when I not home.
It will have a quilted maple backplate and maple stem also.

Hope I didn't open a can worms for you Mike :worms:

Just so everyone knows my special requests come with a extra cost and rightfully so they should! Mikes does the best he can do to please the customer and it shows with all the new Lil bud owners out there, keep it up my friend

I have always liked contrast. Being a Chef that's what helps me create great food, if its plain jane looking and has no eye appeal usually your turned off even before you taste it. Just my own :2c:

Since I received my LB 1.0 batch 5 I wanted a walnut backplate to match the switchbox and tube. Got a hold of Mike and sent my backplate to him to match one up, paid for it when I ordered up the misses 2.0 He ended up sending me back 1 walnut and 1 cherry both with no slot.:brow: He even threw in extra magnets and the wider shims, can't ask for any better service than that! So now I have one sweet looking LB 1.25  Will post some pixs when I get a chance.

Mike then offers a great deal on Friday the 13th on a quilted maple with figured walnut switchbox. It caught my eye instantly, thought about it all day during work for 15 hours.
I figured someone here would of snagged it up, but NOOOOOOOOO
So now I have another LB 2.0 coming quilted maple with a figured walnut backplate to match the switchbox. Should be another great experience meeting my new LB 2.0 for the first time, cant wait :mmmm:

Also a few weeks back emailed @Alan about some extended stems, 1 in walnut and other in quilted maple  just waiting for an email. Went with the 3.5 inch stems, and also getting some silicone sleeves to mount a whip. Plan on trying out LB with my D020 bubbler, keeping plenty of distance between it and water.

Man I got to slow this train down some how, anybody know a cure?

I would love to see somthing like wood of the month.
That's a great idea:clap:

Are the doors changeable? I would love to see those combo.

I believe the backplates on the 2.0 should be interchangeable.
Mikes constant strive to master his craft has made the Lil Bud more consistent, so we should be able to mix and match them. I plan too, that is just one reason I purchased another custom 2.0

My LB 1.0 will be going to 2 buddies of mine. The first buddy up to get the LB, I'm gonna try to convert from combusting, it will be a challenge for Lil Bud but I think he has a chance. If first buddy doesn't like LB the other buddy will be much easier, he vapes but those nasty pens and also combusts occasionally, cake walk for the LB.

Sorry for the long post, trying to catch up, been busting my ass at work lately :bang:

As @P.A.M. says vape on!:smug:

@Slickwilly
This is not my first trip around the block my friend. My salesmanship may be good, but I've learned that I can only sell something I'm absolutely passionate about. That's why it comes so naturally, I believe in the product, and passionately want to keep building / improving Lil' Bud / Timber, and as many as humanly possible. And I can't do that if I don't sell them. Making money while I'm at it is the icing on the cake.

So I broke down and wound up buying more walnut - really my most popular item. After roughing a bunch of walnut I realized I don't have as much as I thought. It is so gnarly, there wound up being lots of waste. Gonna have to build around some really knotted up stuff. I'll leave in as many live flaws as possible, as long as they don't affect the integrity of the unit. I do have enough walnut in stock to complete this batch.

Didn't get as much done as I'd wanted today, better luck tomorrow. Had a bunch of stuff to catch up on around the house, errands to run, so the I'll have to finish assemblies for this week's shipping tomorrow. I won't have another chance to go postal until Thursday. Right now that's the plan. That'll give me me time to sort everything out, do the final buff, pack up, whatever other odds and ends, without rushing - which isn't good for anybody.

So you guys seem to be saying the magic is in the combos. I am blown away by many of them. The PH with QM, QM with Walnut. I can start to mix and match back plates, include multiple back plates, and all sorts of stuff with stems. But I'm sitting here sucking on a cherry stem in an all cherry unit.

It's like buying a red car. I know I love, love, love it now, but there's a chance I'll get sick of it. If I go with the classic black, I'll love it more and more and more. Red's a risk. But everybody's different when it comes to cosmetics, thankfully, or my job would be boring.

I've done my best to upgrade the site and make mixing and matching easier - even back plates (extra different backplates available now). But if you can dream it up and can't make it happen on the site, I'll give you a quote. Everybody on this thread knows they can contact me at any time and make adjustments to anything listed on the website. As of right now it's within cherry, figured walnut, quilted maple, and purple heart.

And just to add, you guys having VAS (just like me, only now I have VBS - figure it out) makes my job easy, good thing LB is a sound product, so we both come out winners.

Once VAS sets sadly the only real cure is a complete withdrawal from FC forums.
Was wondering where I caught it from? All you contiguous vapers out there are to blame

I believe in the product, and passionately want to keep building / improving Lil' Bud / Timber
That's exactly what will keep them coming back for more, I know I will :D

Mike how big of a piece of wood will be needed to make a Timber?

This site has some pretty cool exotic wood http://www.exoticwood.biz/woodchart.htm

Here's another with good descriptions for each type of wood out there http://www.wood-database.com/wood-finder/

Come to find out purple heart changes color over time from UV. http://www.wood-database.com/wood-articles/preventing-color-changes-in-exotic-woods/

Just refunded a customer on a cosmetically flawed unit (switch off center) because of a my delay in shipping this week. If my process causes some delays in shipping, I truly apologize, but that is the nature of a one man show, and what I have to offer. I don't run to the post office with one unit. I could drop everything, pack up one order, but that wouldn't be fair to everyone else waiting for their LB's (all of batch 7 and 2 repairs). If you wanna save some money on a cosmetically flawed unit (switch slightly off center), I just added one to my stock if you're interested.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
BUILD YOUR BUD
Just updated the website. I added a *Build Your Bud* option. You can choose from different options/ wood for main body, switch box, back plate, and mouthpiece. Beyond that, you can still contact me for any final adjustments. Within the GoDaddy software, this is about as good as it gets fully automated.

From my point of view you should take all the time that you need. Without pressure. We know you are working your ass off and you are certainly not a kid who is flaking out and moving on. Your work ethic is actually outstanding. I have been rereading the thread from the beginning and you only started about 6 months ago. Outstanding progress, quality and output. Please take whatever time you consider necessary.

I like the updated Build Your Own option. Im also a dog lover and was thrilled to see your Red. How about a model based on him? Perahps a white wood combined with a black wood and a red wood stem?

The $10 you charge for shipping is more then enough to cover priority mail.. they pick up the package from your doorstep for free. You should look into it to avoid unnecessary trips to the post office and avoid delays in shipping.

@Bravesst Getting better every single day awesome work!! Thursday sounds great for shipping if you are able to make that, if not ahh well few days wont kill me.
Also, I'm glad you are thoroughly enjoying your all Cherry unit

I agree. No rush here.

Easy for me to say, just took break from mowing with Lil Bud and a deep packed walnut stem :smug:

I had trouble waiting too, hardest part about it, but in the end good things come for those who wait.

In this case great things

I wouldn't trust my mailman to pickup packages, half time my neighbors get my mail! :goon:

Listen I know the guys doing a great job. I don't think it's necessary to wait to ship something that is completed and paid for. Saying otherwise is nice but it still doesn't make much sense.. at least to me I guess.

Purchased a set of 18650s a case and an adapter to pair with glass.. those all arrive today because I purchased Thurs.
For my LB.. I guess if I had known it would be a full week to even ship it I wouldn't have wasted @Bravesst time or my money for accessories for it.

It is easier being patient when you have a lovely LB to hold. But I look at what Mike is doing the same way I look at one-man guitar builders. It pays to be patient-you just can't rush hand made crafts.

If you want it fast get a plastic factory-made vaporizer from an on-line store.

I sure have been having fun getting to know my Batch 6 LB. I've been experimenting with screens, screen placement, load size, and load tamp and I think I've found my happy place. It really took time though because this LB operates so much differently, so much faster than my Batch 1 LB, but we all know that getting to learn our vapes is half the fun.

But I'm ecstatic, because now, I have it set up to be a micro-dosing monster.

I've found that my draw speed is better suited to the top-hat screens that have a bit more draw resistance. I also like that they are in a fixed position, and don't shift when I tamp. Given the increased draw resistance of the screen I don't have to tamp as firmly, just enough to evenly distribute the flower on the screen.

That was my last adjustment-I'd been tamping too firmly and I was charring loads to near combustion. Not anymore. I've noticed better flavor with less tamping as well.

And I can use a tiny amount; .025g-.04g, about a dime's depth and still get a nice long sipping session of 6-8 nice draws, stirring after 3 or 4 pulls, then after two more pulls, and then into the ABV debowler it goes.

Happy to know others, including @Bravesst, like the idea of contrasting woods for back plates and switch boxes. I had no idea it had already been done-but it just makes sense. I could see how nice a Walnut back plate would look on my Cherry LB as I too love contrast.

Trust me I completely understand.

Like I said it was the hardest thing to deal with about the purchase but it's part of it.

You WOOD have had something to look forward too when you got back home at least. :2c:

When did you order? If you looked he states that this is how he does it and that if you ordered you would have to wait. I ordered mine and it took Month+ for me to receive whitch was kind of annoying as i got it for a trip as well. It was defiantly worth the wait! The switch ended up breaking and I had to send in for repair or new unit but I am looking forward to getting mine back very much. But as others have made me realize if you compare this to other devices such as the grasshopper or IHEAT they both have some wait time to receive and the lil bud is a pretty short wait time especially now it seems he has really upped his speed for the turn around time for units.

@maxymods I got a cosmetic defect so he wasn't commissioned for that specific model and I was under the impression it would ship when I sent funds because it was already completed.. I didn't 50 down or anything like that.

It's really not a big deal this would have been ~30th vape. Most recently had a fw5 which is also a one man show and was on the wait list for that for 6 months. I know how all this works I was really just throwing it out there to save @Bravesst time and energy going to the post office. Unless he is getting a discount for mailing a certain amount all at once it just doesn't make sense (to me)

Didn't mean to stir up so much bs. I have a lot of stuff to accomplish, and I do everything in batches. I don't pack up one order and label it, I do 10. That is the nature of my one man operation. I understand if somebody needs it now, but I just can't do *now*, that's not the kind of business I'm running - I apologize in advance if any of my customers expect that. I wish I could do that. The reality is, if sales pick up much more, the wait times may increase, because I can only build so many LB's.

I get it though, I order off Amazon all the time, and want my shit in 2 days, but I cannot compete with those type of services, nor do I try to. So, for future reference, no matter what type of LB you buy, I don't ship one unit at a time, even if the mailman comes to my house and picks it up. I'm not stopping the other 1000 things I got going on.

When I'm building, I'm buried deep, hard to describe, but sometimes I just stop and crash for an hour, wake up, make coffee and build again. That's the only way I can get stuff done, get on a roll and go.

But no worries. Any time you change your mind, feel free to jump back in @elykpeace

Yo , @elykpeace , too bad you couldn't wait for like a week . considering this would be your 30th vape and you have experience waiting 6 months + for other vapes, it's unfortunate timing wasn't right for you on this one . Mike works harder then a work horse , and as a great turn around time so you'll understand people siding with Mike on this. Even if already built it still make sense for it to take a few days to package & ship . working in a shop with with loud tools , you don't necessarily ear the door bell or want to be interrupted in the middle of routing wood .. I'd hate to see Mike drinking coffee all morning waiting for the mailman. that's my job! Lol! Just like Mike's shipping methods don't make sense to you, your opinion on all this doesn't make much sense to me ... i personally like knowing my handcrafted vape was personally hand delivered to the post office . I recall loving the feeling i got from shipping my handmade guitars and watching the counter clerk take it away. It completed the cycle for me sorta thing . ... it's all good , shit happens, stuff come up , we aren't in your shoes , you mention LB'ing some other time and that's great! Stick around with us in the mean time , pretty chill bunch here! :peace:

Well I put down 50 for the lil' bud with the off center switch, hopefully I didn't get beat to the punch! Mike's been great about answering all my questions and if I wasn't too slow I'm sure I'm going to love having it my hands.

I was considering a grasshopper for the size, but I'm not worried about it being too big, vapes are always smaller than I imagine and you can't beat a one man show for good customer service.

Lots going on here. Trying to get a few Walnut units going, as my assembly shop was off limits for the afternoon yesterday, I had no choice but to rough out some Walnut units. Gave the new beading a shot on a few - very, very cool I'll eventually charge extra for it as an option, but for now, it'll be included free while supplies last.

A couple of very positive things also happened. I installed a new 84 tooth, carbide tip, combination blade for my table saw, as well as tuned up the saw. I was able to cut out for the switch box, as well as cut the switch box, and the fit was impeccable right off the saw. This is a huge time saver!!! A shoulda tuned up that saw a while ago, woulda saved lots of work fussing with the fit. This, by far, is the best *off the saw* batch, meaning a lot less work, and quicker turnaround time.

To celebrate my good fortune, I'm gonna give a break on Figured Walnut for the rest of the month. Coupon Code: *whereswalnut* will save you $20 on Figured Walnut through July 31.

Next lot of walnut / batch 7 and 8 - what you'll be getting with *whereswalnut*.

Looking good :) sounds like things rolling along with this batch. Hate to ask this but are you still considering shipping some of these Thursday?

No rush of course just wondering. I'm hoping to go camping next week. Worse case it be at post office when I return. Best case it be going on it's first camping trip.
