Alright. So I’ve got good news and bad news about the new ceramic VC stand...

The bad news:

I forgot to post pictures the other day...

The good news:
I was able to squeeze the 4 prints into 3 prints... and the last print just finished. So stay tuned for photos later today. Or maybe tomorrow.

A deeper bottom dish so it makes for a better storage area for going 3 piece, make it so you can’t push the kief screen down when it’s being used, course and fine grinder plates.

Deeper dish for a 3 piece: Absolutely something we want to do. The problem we’re currently having is coming up with a way to make it a ‘universal’ piece that’s functional to use as both a 3 and a 4 piece.

You shouldn’t be able to push the screen down on the SWII. Not unless the bottom is also unscrewed... is that not the case?

I got all excited for pictures, but...?

Apologies, I couldn’t post earlier due to the double post rule. And then I got busy.

Here’s the update of the printed pieces:

The 4 pieces separated. Each to be glued together.

Both of these 3D printed parts will eventually have a silicon mold made of them. Which will then allow for a plaster mold to be made that will be the shape of the 3D printed part.

We only printed one side wall in order to save on time/costs. So I moved the unglued piece to show how that will work.

And then this will roughly be the texture/color of the stand once it’s finished.

Unfortunately, I’m going to say that it won’t be ready until around the end of September...

Yes I can push the screen down with everything screwed together. It moves probably an 1/8” or so.

If the bottom was the same size as the top that would be perfect for a 3 piece and only add a little height to a 4 piece.

@InterplanetaryTanner as far as what we'd like to see in the SWIII, I'd love if you could somehow get the metal pull for removing the screen to seat inside itself. It's killing me seeing beautiful kief building up on that metal ppiece.Or get rid of that metal all together and just pop the screen in and out when it's unscrewed.

My Gold SWII definitely takes some mire twisting to remove the bottom piece unlike the middle section. I've got my Rheumatitis pretty under control with diet but sometimes after a long day in the garden I can barely get that bottom section unscrewed, but have no problems with unscewiuns that middle section when my hands are feeling useless.

I know this would probably bump the price up a bit but maybe a stronger metal for the grinder. I haven't had my SWII that long and all ready have a lot of dings in it from tapping the top on the sides. I used to do this with a Cosmic Case and genuine Space Case grinder from years ago and never had my grinder ding up from that tapping on tapping.

Otherwise I think you guys have the rest of it down solid. I love the grind and missing teeth for loading. And the simple quarter turn for the middle section is divine!!

The metal pull is totally removable. Just give it a pinch from both sides and it will pop right out!

The middle section and bottom section both have the same threading. So far, you’re the first that has said the bottom is harder to open than the top. Normally it’s the other way around. - My understanding of this problem is that there’s no official machining that makes the threading ‘stop’... so we’ll be adding something. Or someway to prevent it from being tightened more than it needs to be.

Are the dings actual dings in the metal? Or are they cosmetic? The anodizing on the glossy SWIIs (gold and Rasta) have proven to be much more troublesome than the matte versions...

Nope. Don’t really see the need for a magnet on The Silo. I’m not sure what function it would provide.

How about to hold and cool off a cap?

Makes the Silo more versatile and stealthier too :brow: Good for standing room only.

I installed a dynamag above the treads where the stash screws on with some double sided Gorilla tape. Just to test it out for awhile before I go and make it permanent.

I prefer to use a dynastash and not the smaller stash that comes on the Silo.

When filling the tip with herb I keep silo (cap on magnet) and a dynastash in one hand then hold vapcap in other hand, fill with herb, put cap back on, put Silo in pocket and fire away with torch. Repeat as needed

Could actually install a smaller magnet and still use the removable stash that comes with the Silo or just install a magnet on the removable stash itself?

Can also be used to attach Silo to any steel object for storing or hiding :ninja:

Could stand the Silo up on your launch pad when not in use too. Its stands a little to the side with the magnets facing each other but it doesn't fall off.

The launch pad is great but I don't like to carry it around too bulky and heavy for pocketing, more for desk top, work bench, night stand type of places :2c:

@slick The Silo is aluminum, so putting a hot VC inside of it isn’t going to hurt anything.

You forgot willy after slick

How does one get a hot cap inside the Silo without touching it? If cap falls into Silo so will the herb.

Using the magnet helps pull off cap from the dynavap not loosing any herb. Can hold cap on magnet until ready to put back on dynavap after tip is filled. I never have to touch the cap, always on magnet , unless I knock it off somehow?

I always pull my hot cap off after second hit to check color, not easy without a magnet. Plus if your in a group and sharing, nobody likes to wait, makes reloading a lot quicker.

Do you know the thread size and pitch where the stash screws unto the middle adapter, male end?

:peace:

Sorry. I meant when you use the term “VC”. Do you mean the actual cap? Or the whole dynavap?

My best guess is that you’re talking about the cap, while I’m talking about the whole...

I don’t know what the pitch or thread size is. But I’ll try to find out.

Yup sorry my bad.

I'm was talking about the cap and removing that while hot off of dynavap.

No worries all good.

Thanks for your time and seeing if you kind find thread size for the Silo.

Well, slick, I don’t think the idea I got from your pictures will be practical.

I was thinking of making some sort of loading device to easily load the VCs. But it will be more hassle than it’s worth. Then, I kinda thought about making a cap for the VC cap so you can travel with caps already filled with herb. But again, it seems like more work than necessary.

I’m also still waiting to hear about the threading.

Also, @everyone else, we came up with another idea for a ceramic product the other day. A q-tip iso jar. - https://www.interplanetarydevelopment.com/products/cleaning-station

We’re still looking for a few more product ideas. If you come up with one and we use it, we’ll you a pink SWII.

...i never touch my caps...EVER! I think magnet's on anything vapcap related is a must.. especially if it's a stash of any sorts...

...i even put magnets on my torches :ko:

I only use a magnet for a heat sink. I like my caps tight since I had a loose one come off in my IH once-didn't want that to happen again. So I not only touch my caps...I touch them a lot

The pinks are currently half off with code “PINKSALE” :science:

Will that code still be good on Thursday (8/2/18)?

Mine goes down when the bottom is screwed on. Like Likes2vape said, it goes down just a little bit. Like, a sixteenth to an eighth of an inch, but enough for shit to get between the screen and the metal body, so I have to take it apart and clean it if I realized I pushed a little too hard while pinching out some ground material.

Yes I can push the screen down with everything screwed together. It moves probably an 1/8” or so.
