There's something about watching all this happen in real time that makes me happy. Seeing someone grow in their craft and processes is exciting. And we're all the beneficiaries.

@bossman I am too. But more for increased control. I've always laughed when people talk about draw restriction in their vapes. I can lung pull a Dynavap M. My tendency is to draw too hard; especially on mouthpieces that are 12mm and above in diameter and on relatively short stems.

I find the vapor from the LB to be quite smooth and tasty when I'm in that sweet spot of clean screen, fresh battery, and well cured flower. Warm, not hot. But I have to be really careful with my draw speed.

This is one of the cool things about the LB though. We can customize the experience to the way we use it, and based on our own draw speed.

I opted to go all wood because I think I lose more goodies to glass than I do to wood. I've lightly scraped the inside wall of my wood stems and there's really nothing there-and I use my LB 2-3 times a day. I've had these stems for 3 or 4 months, maybe more. My glass stems would be opaque if they went that long without cleaning.

I'm looking for the additional control from the longer stem with a narrower aperture-if it cools the vapor at all it will be a bonus.

thats whats nice about the glass lined 8mm. Slows things down and cools too because of the restriction/glass length! Best of ALL worlds

For you. And I'm really happy you've find a stem that's the best for you.

I'm going to remain a wood purist as it relates to the LB, and in time, the Timber. I have experience with wood vapes with glass stems, and wood vapes with wood stems, and my personal preference is all-wood.

But I'm not against that combination. Glass makes a nice condenser, and I plan on getting a glass-lined stem for my vapcaps for all the reasons you so wisely point out-the best of all worlds with metal-wood-glass.

Edit: do you guys have a length recommendation for a second stem? Alan has a range of options from 2.5 to 4".
Well 3" wouldn't be that much a difference over 2.5" and if going up to 3.5" you might has well go 4" if storing or stealthiness isn't an issue.

I've noticed with my latest batch of harsher kush (which i actually cough in a video with ) that my Walnut stem seems to be smoother then my Maple stem. That or its me getting used to it . I know it's not LB and sooo thankful I have the LB , that kush must be harsh as fuck in other vapes , lol.

Only half a day in the shop today, banged out 4 assemblies. Assembly a bit slower with the ss foil fitting, but only a by hair. All four coils basically fell into place inside their foil lined chambers. The process is a steady, productive flow, very different than the early days. Now I build with the confidence of what went into everything that happens pre-assembly.

This pic came out a little dark, PH is much lighter in real life. From the top clockwise around:
Purple Heart / Quilted Maple
Cherry / Cherry
Walnut / Walnut
Cherry / Cherry

On deck are the Quilted Maple units, one with a PH switch box.

I just separated my Figured Walnut from other specialty woods, as it's much easier to keep in stock. Figured Walnut basic package is now $199 (vs Cherry at $169). To my Purple Heart and Quilted Maple Switch box guy (you know who you are), crazy nice choice. Got me thinking. I just paired a Quilted Maple with Walnut switch box - insane . Another quilted maple got a purple heart switch box (see pic below of unfinished unit). Very interesting combinations, striking.

If you order exotic hardwoods (QM and PH), and add a contrasting switch box, the price would $239, but since I made the choices, these are my Friday the 13 sale units.

Right Now 2 Available Only Available Here*
  • Quilted Maple with Walnut - $199 (save $40)
  • Quilted Maple with Purple Heart - $199 (save $40) - see pic below

Sweet they all look awesome! I'm gathering accessories from all over, pelican case and hopefully some extra tubes from @Alan as we speak!

Man I love this community (and Miss Mary Jane of course)!!!

This is always a great time in the build process, and what I envisioned for Lil' Bud. I've done lots of prep work to bring this batch to this level, now as I assemble sub-batches, I can post pics and show them off, offer deals on certain items, explore new possibilities. It took this long (six months or so) for this to happen. It took about 50 pre sale, and another 50 post sale Lil' Buds to settle on set design. All issues have been ironed out. We are rock solid and ready to sell 2.0 Lil' Buds. Today I will put together a variety pack of LB's. The Quilted Maples are calling my name.

Impulsive impromptu video shot in the wee hours of Saturday morning, enjoy. No hemp fiber, instead, I moved the screen back up the stem another 1/4 inch or so. PS: too early for talking.

UPDATE 30 MINUTES LATER
Just to add, without the hemp, this session is still going on, and it's been like 30 minutes. Of course not steady, but I must have gotten another 8 hits. I loaded pretty heavy, probably .1 or so, but still, love the convenience of not having to keep refilling. It does take more control with breath and button to keep things tasty - extra distance in this slightly longer stem is helping a bit. And believe it or not, at the end of this edit, I'm still getting hits, tasty ones at that.

Just put together the first unclaimed Quilted Maple / Purple Heart Combo Unit - might be the prettiest thing I've ever seen. As soon as my six hours are up, or someone posts, I'll post pics.

I use every just about every tool you see just in the assembly process.

As promised - lil' guy still needs the final buff out. He is unclaimed and for sale only here at $199 plus shipping. I'm not sure if it's the switch, foil, coil, or just better craftsmanship all around, but batch 7 is singing!

Just wanted to give a quick shout out for all the warm welcomes to the forums thank you everyone !
I can hardly contain my excitement, I need my unit NOW :D
Any chance those of us who purchased before the sale can get our batch 7 units soon @mike ? I recall you saying two pages back you're going to start shipping in batches of 10 sounds perfect

I cannot promise, but next week there probably will be a trip to the post office for about ten. Got six done. Problem is I'm short Walnut for the first ten, so most of the walnut units in batch 7 will have to wait until the end of the month.

Complete are three cherry, one walnut, one purple heart / quilted, one quilted / purple heart, or six in total. That doesn't count the cosmetic flaws (2). Also have two repairs. I may bang out two more units and pack up and ship Monday, going to the post office with a dozen or so units. No total packages will go until the end of the month either, as I need to build gauges. I gotta get out of the assembly shop and away from all the close work for a bit. You start seeing double after awhile. The break will give a chance to build some walnut units. Got a nice hunk of figured walnut picked out. Six or eight walnut bodies should go pretty quick.

Looking forward to trying the lil bud out. I use medically mostly just get pain relief. If want feel anything more find that switching to a different vaporizer works.
Glad I jumped in when I did. Looks like batch seven are the first of the lil bud 2?

With my hand issue me and glass are not the greatest combo. One of the big reason I bought this vaporizer. Looks like it can take a drop or 2. Hopefully it won't end up in my broken needs to be to be fixed box. :(
Have a nice wooden stem I picked up few year from Alan that should match the cherry wood.

I can't wait see what you have created for me. Really have enjoyed watching the progress on these thanks again for sharing. Do have to add swirls on the quilted maple is really eye catching.

Been thinking of a better storage solution for different stems I have. Either find or try build a nice rack or something.
Thinking something along the line of 4"x 8" base with a 2"x 8" Shelf couple 2" high. Thinking holes on shelf to fit 14mm and 18mm stems. The extra 2" on base not used by stem shelf. I could drill out spots for sprinter iheat stempod 510 connection to sit.

Anyone have any other idea's doesn't have be the sizes above.

That is an awesome response and very timely thanks a lot for staying on top of everything! The constant updates in this thread have been amazing, sucks to hear for those with Walnut, us Cherry Bombs are ready to rip heheh. If you got to ship those first 10-12 anytime next week would be great, thanks again and for sure get as much rest as you need !

Just couldn't assemble any more units. Had to get out to the old wood shop. I decided to look over my *hunk a walnut*. Damn, what a gnarly piece. Once you start to cut to rough size, you can immediately tell. I'd just bought a new blade for my table saw, squared everything up and ripped away. Nowadays, I'm being smart. I cut to about 1/8 large in thickness and width, then head over to my thickness planer.

A thickness planer is a stationary planing machine that I use in furniture making on every project. It will gradually bring piece of stock to an exact thickness. It may takes quite a few passes, so you wanna get it close with the table saw first, then plane down to get an exact flat width and thickness. This consistency this achieves is what makes it all come together easily in the end. I've roughed out enough for about 12 units. Once the first half of batch 7 goes, I'm diving in. It's a gnarly batch, so who knows how progress will go. Looking forward to this gnarly, kind of marbly looking stuff.

Once batch seven, phase one ships, look for walnut porn.

Some Wild Ideas
Who knows if some of the stuff I'm thinking of will every come to pass, but it must be the confidence in the performance and reliability of the unit that my mind wanders to some different configurations (Timber) or cosmetic embellishments.

So, as far as cosmetic embellishments, I can only turn to what I know, building tables. Sometimes, on a leg or apron, I'll add a bead. There are router bits that do this, but it looks routed. Years ago, it was *scratched* with a very specific bit, self made. It's not too complicated to take a piece of a hack saw blade, grind / file a small concave edge, and mount it at a right angle in a small piece of wood. It's now a matter of running the bit along the edge, guided by the wood mount, until a nice round bead appears on the edge. I was wondering how small this can be done on cherry. It could be done to a longer board before cutting up, or per unit. It would go on the front two corners instead of just a 3/8 rounded edge. Basically, you're scratching a groove near the edge so it creates a bead from top to bottom. - Just an idea, might try on some scrap Lil' Buds... Who knows what'll happen when we head down this road.

One Last Thing
I haven't been speaking about hemp fiber, and here's why. I achieved all the pros and no of the cons from a simple back off of about 1/4 inch, maybe 3/8, of the basket screen up the stem. Maybe it's the coil in the foil with the switch, but I was't having as good results as these previously, when setting the screen far away. The problem always was it would gum up faster if not close. Now that is not happening, I'm way back, no fiber, and taste city. Also long ass sessions again, and I do hate to keep loading.

Just sold # 20 of batch 7. I've decided to extend the batch by 2 more. Been browsing for some more PH and QM, and I came across some Wenge. Very nice indeed. Usually an accent wood in furniture making, it's darker than even the darkest walnut.

Before I purchase PH, QM, or even possibly Wenge, I'd like to get an idea of interest.

If you were going out Lil' Bud shopping, which would you choose?

Cherry - Beautifully grained and textured. Perfectly suited to vape building. Cherry is like and old friend who gets better with age. My personal favorite.

Figured Walnut - Super popular wood, and I built lots of walnut furniture. It's where I realized Walnut's potential for gnarly, figured grain patterns that can be captured within the LB form. Very popular choice.

Purple Heart - Straight grained, rock hard, dense as hell. When you're holding a Purple Heart Lil' Bud, you know it. The deep, rich, purple color is not found anywhere else. Phenomenal looking vape that will get lots of attention.

Quilted Maple - What can you say about this, possibly the prettiest exotic hardwood. The exotic swirly grain patterns and texture changes are unparalleled in any other species. Light as a feather, hard as a rock, this unit is a head turner.

Wenge - Dark and dense, hard and heavy, I'd have to think this popular accent wood, would make a crazy nice vape. The almost black wood is also marked with lighter brown streaks. I think they'd make some nice LB's.

@Bravesst have you thought about using the battery door with an accent color. A Walnut door with an all Cherry body/switch box would pop, or you could match the accent switch box & battery door with matching woods..

Just a thought.
That is what the very first LB's looked like ; matching switchbox and battery door . it does look great , they all look great

Does anybody have a picture of the Gnarly Grained Walnut?

I can't see any of the pictures posted in this thread T.T

Btw I love the wenge a lot! Now I want a Wenge LB :o

Like the quilted maple the most. I also like the matching switch look.. but a quilted maple with a purple heart switch and purple heart door would make a great combo. Even the cherry walnut listed above would pop. Are the doors changeable? I would love to see those combo.
