Yes. I've labeled the charger that came with the new 2017 Solo so I can tell the difference between the charger that came with the 2014 Solo. The reason I labeled them was because there is different electrical descriptors on each.

Sounds like a classic battery pack failure to me. What you describe, early charge shutdown when the strong cell is fully charged but the weak one not, will only get worse since you can't 'balance charge' the cells as individuals to reset things from outside the pack You could confirm that by opening both and trading battery packs. I'd send it in.
That really shouldn't matter, the older one will just charge the new Solo a bit slower than the adapter that came with it. Consider the 'car charger' has yet more power (current) available. Again, 'excess capacity' is not used. I've been charging my Solos (and other stuff that uses 12VDC) from a 3 Amp source for years. I'm not even sure where most of the factory chargers are any more.

The solo is a real beast. I bought one HEAVILY used about a year and a half ago on eBay for like 65 bucks (definitely a real one) shipped and after about a half year of use I gave it to a friend who didn't vape. He used it for the past ~year and just gave it back to me because he for some reason went back to combustion. Still works perfectly.

Whenever I'm trying to convert someone from smoking to vaping I introduce them to the vapes I own that hit hard. I figure my job is to make them cough up a sweet tasting vapor filled lung.
My go to suggestion for newbie purchases who don't want to part with any real money used to be the XMAX-V2 Pro because they're so cheap, don't really require any technique and can hurt you. I figured $79 and less was a nice start.
Now that the Solos are coming down in price like this I'm gonna start recommending the Solo as the cheap intro vape. Heck, you can pick a Solo up for about $108 and still buy a D020-D and 14mm Gong for less than the old Solo price!

So I just got to use my solo for the first time today. Going to a bunch of concerts in WA, OR, CA and CO and knew I'd be driving through Utah and Idaho first and figured fresh, clean devices were the way to go and I left my volcano at home. Bought the solo after the price drop for home base and lot vaping on this trip and an xmax v2 pro for in the venues. The xmax works surprisingly well IMO, better than I had expected honestly for the price but wow, the solo is killing it! When leaving Denver I was regretting not bringing the volcano because I hadn't tried the solo yet and couldn't imagine it was this good. Really efficient, pretty even browning - and the vapor quality was up there pretty high! Bought the GonG adapter but don't think I'll get a chance to use that until I'm back in CO. Idk if they put in a new battery but 3 full cycles, 2 at 4 and one at 5 and it only lost 1 light of battery! I could definitely see myself adding this to the daily rotation. Also I had read/watched many reviews and feel like its smaller than I had expected which was a pleasant surprise...but man this thing packs a punch and for under 110 idk if it can he beaten in terms of value for money.

Glad you like your Solo, a great unit for sure. It's earned it's reputation with lots of excellent performance and virtually no failures/problems. A fine tool for making fine vapor.
Be advised the top LED step (7) is 'twice as big' as the rest. That is it covers .4 Volts of battery pack, not .2 like the others. In general, you can depend on 'a session per step', typically getting 8 or 10 from a complete cycle. Although for best battery pack life it's best to avoid full charges or complete discharges.
Then again, given today's low prices some might decide 'screw that idea'. Your call.
Yes, lots of great tips for owners/users of all sorts in 35,000 posts in this thread. Also the stuff in Solo II, Air, Air II and ArGo threads apply for the most part. Not all users are alike (or even close) so opinions vary and what one guy finds useful might not fit the next. You really have to determine what works best for you, as you've found Solo/Air/ArGo is a very versitle machine, there is no 'right way' to use it.
What suits/pleases me might not interest the next guy.

Ha... this seems to backfire on me alot...
One time my vapcap vong got launched across the room by a jet of water after a mate coughed a lung down my d020-d...
Another example was a friend who was new to cannabis completely.. gave him a fat dab on the evo...
He spent 4 hours sweating and being sick...
This was a couple years ago.. he still won't
try it again...
I know where he is.. don't worry about him, he is just fine...
Used my solo for the first time in about a year the last night..
Pleasantly surprised... I just never have time for session vapes, but I'm gonna make time now...
Was a nice experience sipping from the solo...

I'm careful with folks who are cannabis newbies and bring them along slow. It's the ones who have been smoking cannabis for awhile that I feel the need to impress with a "pre-staged, heat soaked bowl and a warning to take it easy".... and then watch as they hit that vape and try to show me what they're made of.
I've got one guy I'm getting ready to "impress" who I loaned several beginner vapes, (Xmax V2-Pro and 2 variety's of low end Flower-Mates). Him and his friends really liked the vape taste versus smoking but had two complaints....first was how long it takes to get to the high and how much work and learning was required. My mistake was just handing them the vapes (with user guides) after I cleaned and prepped them without taking them through vape-land in person. I gave advice when I heard about a complaint versus sitting with them and working the first session or two and that may have gotten them frustrated with all the new info.
Going to rectify the above with a new Solo I bought as a gift for the one guy during the recent sale. We'll sit down and do this next one together and I'm inviting my D020-D. They can keep the Xmax V2 Pro and the FlowerMates. I had duplicates/backups.

Hey guys, had a question for those of you who've upgraded/replaced the battery in your solo. Did you notice more heat/vapor production after replacing it, or is it more just increases in battery capacity? Unearthed my old solo recently and I can't tell if it's a little weaker, or if I'm just not packing it tight enough.

No. The unit is temperature controlled, it works at the same temperature as long as there's useful charge left. As the charge gets weaker it's simply on a bigger percentage of the cycle to compensate.
They don't get weak at the session level. Short of failure to work at all, it's a matter of run time. If you no longer get 'a session per LED' it's getting weaker, but is not effecting performance.

For about a month I've been ignoring my water tools and using an air stem and a curved stem. Change is good once in awhile, and you can re-discover the difference in taste.

I remain a big fan of Solo I. IMO the steps are just fine, adjusting to a degree is not really useful to me since it's only an approximation of the load temperature anyway. Turn it up or down to suit your wishes.
In a 'blindfold' test I find no difference in production between Solo I and Solo II (given later production Solo Is with larger holes). Longer battery life and not necessary (but nice) feature refinements are not much to merit the much larger cost.
For most I'd advise Solo I over Solo II unless you're after some specific feature and are willing to pay (dearly) for it.
Regards. Best wishes with your new brace of Solo Is. I'm betting they see a lot of duty.

There's a lot to be said for rotating 2 Solos. Mostly about never being out of a ready one. OF's advice about not using it while charging makes sense, and even if it had no adverse effect is awkward anyway. You won't be sorry.

I have both Solo models and agree with OF the extra features on the Solo II don't make it that much better when performance on both is so similar.

+1 for having 2 Solos and taking a pass on the Solo2 after testing it for a week, because the performance of the Solo2 doesn't warrant the extra cost for me. I think I mentioned this opinion a while back.

My 2017-18 Solo is in the shop or I'd do the comparison to be sure. I'll check to be sure once the 2017/2018 Solo comes home.
