This may have been covered so I apologize but what is the main difference from the splinter and the Z?

@Justpassedu aye same here on the ecig front, i stopped vaping nicotine a year or so back, but i have this custom made DNA200 5200mah beast (amongst other mods) which is just crying to be used. Figure the battery is going to last weeks! Planning on it being my portable desktop as it were.

I’m trying to figure out what mod to go with, I like the duel battery option for the same idea that the battery’s will go awhile without a charge

The RBT website is being redesigned. I'm sure the links will appear shortly. Last I saw $139 for the Splinter & $189 for the Z.

This may have been covered so I apologize but what is the main difference from the splinter and the Z?

Rudimentary reply: the Z is based on the Zion heater & the Splinter on the Milaana heater. The Zion is a larger heater which means if you have a larger coil surface area the heater performs better. Maybe some one will elaborate further.

I know we're advised not to unscrew the splinter too often from the mod but how much is too much? I see posts in IG where folks disassembled the splinter from the mod for travel, should that not be done more than once a year/every few months..? I've been babying the 510 connection since my mod arrived yesterday, are you guys super careful?

I don't know if the separation of the 510 adaptor from the wood applies to all Splinters or just the one's where the adaptor is slightly recessed into the wood. Maybe someone in the know can explain. I think mine is slightly recessed, but not 100% sure. Anyway, I'm not worrying about it. If it separates I'll just repair it or send it back to RBT for repair. Rarely have I uncoupled it. But I did just order a cheap 22mm heatsink from fasttech, hoping that I'll be able to remove the heat sink from the mod without having to unscrew the Splinter.

Though I love my Mi I never considered getting a backup unit but I have no issues with picking up an exotic splinter whenever that'll be.

Go for a Splinter Z instead, maybe even in exotic wood.

The small con I have is just the loud air rushing thru the air holes.

Right now I'm using mine strictly through water so I don't hear any air sound. I've used the stem several times, but never noticed the sound. I'll have to check it out.

@SummerDidn't measure the length of the stem joint of the splinter but my Mi glass stems fit without any issues so maybe the 19/19 change hasn't been implemented yet in this batch.

Ryan said that the 19/19 joint is backward compatible with 19/22 stems.

So, before purchasing a Splinter for myself I needed to ask one question. Will it work well with my Joytech Evic Primo? I am happy with my small line-up but really think this would be THE perfect addition. I just have no interest in buying another box for the Splinter. I!

Here's a pic of it on the Eleaf iPower Stick which has approx. the same dimensions as yours. BTW, that's a silicone sheath on my mod I bought off Amazon. *To see the pics, just reply to this post & the pics will appear in the reply post box.

I guess picking up a heat sink for each device is also a good ideal. New to box mod world is there a size or anything else to look for when buying one?

I would not go larger than 25. If you intend on using it on something like the Pico you will more likely have clearance problems with the battery cap.

It really doesn't matter unless you are using it on small mod like the Pico where only a 22mm will fit. I'd probably just go with that and be done with it. That way you can still use it on a larger mod if you want but have the flexibility to go smaller too.

I remove my Splinter from my Evic mini all the time as well. I've had mine right about 3 months now. Half the lure for me was how it broke down into such small pieces that look like e cig mod parts. I go back and forth between splinter and rosen carts throughout the day.
The Evic has pretty good memory, it recalls the 37 watt setting when I put the Splinter on, the 33.4 watt for the I-Heat when that comes out, and the 6.5 watt setting of my rosen carts.
I started with the dedicated mod box at first not removing the Splinter from the Evic. There's the fear of the 510 connector separating from the wood from removing from mod box, or cross threading it when putting it back on.
I was/am more scared of breaking the wood off at the connector leaving it on all the mod all the time. Like snapping a pencil in half.
Also the travel kit I can make separating the Splinter is so much smaller and innocent looking than the Splinter on the mod kit. I am careful not to overtighten, just till metal meets the evic.
Also, be sure to keep the threads and entire contact area clean of that gunk that likes to build there. That stuff will cause "no atomizer found" error.

I have lots of mods and ecig atties and mine's going straight on a heat sink as soon as I get it to help to protect the 510 connectors and protect the mod internals from heat transfer.
I'd much rather replace a $1 heatsink when it wears out than the other (more expensive) options (new mod, new splinter, new 510 connector for the mod or splinter)

Yes 510 connectors are that bad ime
Of coarse some are better than others so your mileage may vary, especially if you're investing in a high end mod but I'm too cheap for that :)

riding the Cannabreak train...
Well, I hemmed and hawed for no apparent reason and finally hopped on the Splinter train! I am so looking forward to this being a huge part of my daily routine. At the time I ordered, there were 9 left. They went pretty quick. There was only one downside to the whole experience. I was lit up @ the time of ordering and forgot to apply my 'waitlist' code! I shot out an email to see if it's possible to get that discount applied. I hope it pans out. It was kind of the push I needed to make the deal and I spaced it. I have my trusty sidekicks now, so I won't play the waiting game until it gets here. Just looking forward to trying it out! :D

BTW @Summer thanks for the pics, huge help!

Damn 37 watts seems like a lot for the splinter. Is this just in wattage mode? I combusted at 28 watts on my lost vape dna and wasn’t hitting the button for very long. Lately I’ve been starting bowls at 20 watts and then kick it up to 26 to finish.

Those are just numbers @Smoke1ForMe .
What ever brings consistency for each unit wattage wise may vary from mod box to mod box. Naturally, I started low at around 18 watts and worked my way up till bliss.
20-26 works for you with the Lost.
For me, 37 watts on the single battery Evic mini running some version of funkyjunkys software. 47 watts on the Kaos Z, which is a 2 cell mod running some Spenelli or something software.

I love your relaxed attitude, don't think I'll ever get there but thanks for at least giving me some peace of mind. Last 2 days I've been so ever so gentle when I move about with the mod and splinter attached.

I Been search and think narrowed mod choice down to something in the Wismec Reuleaux line. Really like the look of a larger box mod with the splinter. Just not sure if i want spring for one with a dna chip.

The Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 DUAL in brown purple seems a good starter unit with funkyjunkys software. The Reuleaux DNA200 and DNA250 both look intreasting. The software adjustment sound like something I would enjoy. Just not sure how it would look with the wood splinter. As low as I see some wattage others are using. I might just be able to get by with a dna40 till I find something.

Does Ryan send out shipping info? Just wondering if it will just show up or if I'll get shipping notice info first?

Here's my Splinter on a 22mm heat sink, on an istick Pico 75w. The stem is a GonG adapter with a delrin (I think) mouthpiece jammed in one end. Nice and small and works great. Haven't settled on a name yet. Snub-nose?

I ended up going with the Wismec RX2/3. I like the look of it with the Splinter (first saw it in @AJS's videos) and it works with the FJ firmware. I like the option to use it with either 2 or 3 batteries as well. Price wasn't bad at around $40. It's my first foray into box mods so I felt dropping $100+ on a DNA chipped mod was too much for now.

You'll get an email when your Splinter ships with tracking info. I ordered mine on Monday and received my tracking info today.

Am I the only one not seeing the pics being posted?

Right now, until my custom stem is made (vapor through long stem is way to harsh for me on back of throat), I'm using mine between 32 - 40 watts exclusively through water.

Thanks I just got my email and mine shipped. It was the you're pics that helped me decide what mod style I wanted. I like Wismec rx2/3 too. Just not finding a good price on one in color I like. The wismec dna250 seem a deal at around $80. Just not 100% sold on the look.

If possible can you post a pic? Does it work with FJ firmware?
