Weed so bad it makes you gag?

Has anyone ever had weed that tastes so bad that it makes you gag? Not choke, but gag. And then if you swallow some of the vapor when you gag, it makes your stomach turn? That's what I've got right now. It still gets me high, but it just tastes really awful. Maybe if I smoked it, it wouldn't taste so bad? I think the vaporizer makes the bad taste even stronger. I've never once had weed that tasted bad when vaporized before, so this came as a shock to me.

Never had that, that sucks. What quality of weed is it? Is it moldy?

that sounds like my father's reaction to sour diesel. He can't stand the smell of it.

Just from hearing the name, I have no desire to try any of that myself. I don't liek the smell of diesel fuel and I can only imagine that making it "sour" on top of that!

Iv had herb taste bad from not being flushed properly, but it never made me gag, but bad enough not to want more

i only gag and feel sick in the stomach whenever I vape schwag weed. I guess its all the shit that ends up in it

Vanilla Kush. I refused to buy it; it smelt like vanilla and I didn't even want to try it. Vaporizing it would make me vomit.

Generically speaking, as Son of a Pitch discusses, harsh herb is typically due to not being properly flushed and/or grown. Could also have potential insect killer and the like on it.

In short, could be many things but if its indoor grown, I suspect it is not grown properly as not flushing properly is common among new (inexperienced) growers which in California are a dime a dozen. Just about anyone can grow a plant but not everyone can grow a quality plant from beginning to end. I saw this before somewhat common in Holland with new home growers who really did not know what they were doing.

Yep. I have had some from a dispensary that was so bad they knew it and let me return it.

It was a vanilla-themed strain as well. I think all those cheap, shitty vanilla-scented car fresheners back in the day was what's made me sick of vanilla. Ice cream? Love it, but the scent of pure vanilla is a little much sometimes.

Many of the shops have the inexperience growers Beezleb speaks of; they just want a quick buck, not taking into account any of the amazing procedures/products available to any level of grower.

I also think it's most often to do with the grower not flushing plants fully or using pesticides that makes some herb taste horrible... could also be laced i guess. I've got some stuff that looked great, smelled potent and good, but tasted kinda bleh.. like bitter. Made my friend sick, but just made me feel more burnt out after the buzz wore off. Everyone that SMOKED any of it thought t was great though. I think you can just taste some of the nasties while vaping that you wouldnt be able to past all the combustion crap.

also, running bad tasting herb through water really helps cut out some of the unpleasantness.

Instead of throwing the herb away or smoking it just mix it with other herbs that have pleasant smells and in fact you will feel higher than just vaping with herb alone due to the essential oils in the plants coming together and allowing for more blood flow to the brain which will bring more thc into the brain due to the high amount of these oils being inhaled. For example lemongrass has mycrene, which is why people say eating a mango before smoking gets them higher, and citral. You can also vape some hops with the bud. You will actually need less cannabis than if you vape alone due to the brain taking in more cannabinoids because essential oils pass the blodbrain barrier easily allow other nutrients come in. This is why potent smelling buds hit you better than low smelling bud even though they have the same amount of thc. Sam Skunkman talks about this on icmag and talked about it on overgrow

I wouldn't use essenital oils with raw bud because it will overpower the bud taste but for hash they will mix in lovely and prepared to be BLOWED just make sure the oils are organic and use very little. Just a small drop.

If anyone has tried the vapour tea from vriptech let me know how it works because I'm thinking about getting it. I just don't know if the herbs are good quality.

I remember when I took this giant bong smoke hit from a giant bowl of mids once with the biggest cherry that made me want to vomit. I was spitting everywhere and my mouth tasted like ass. I haven't ever experienced anything like that vaping though.

* How to clean bad herb *

I'll describe here a method to clean your herb. The bad thing about this is that your herb won't have much flavor. It is called "water curing". You can use fresh or dried herb. It's great for herb that has not been flushed properly, so you can get rid of some bad stuff.

What you need:
- An hermetic container with cover
- Water, preferably distilled
- Herb

Put your herb and water in the container and close it. Change water 2-3 times per day for a few days, until the water stay clear. Then let dry (preferably in a cool and dark area). You will be left with potent herb that is smooth on the lungs but don't have much flavor. Once burnt the ash will be very white and fluffy.

Logic of the method: Cannabinoids are not water soluble, so you get rid of all the water soluble stuff but the cannabinoids stay on your herb.

My method to clean dirty hash:
Here is a variation i came up with when wanting to clean unpure pressed hash. First you need to get it to powder form. First, break it in relatively small parts. Put water on the stove and warm it, but keep it at a temperature that is not too hot to be able to touch the water (so that you don't evaporate any good stuff). It only needs to be warm, not hot. Put the hash in the water, and wait for around 15 minutes. Then use a spoon or your hands or something to powderize the hash (still in the water), this will be easy as the hash will be warm. I use a potatoe masher with large quantity. Then, mix you hash soup. You now can turn off the heat if it's not already done, and let your soup cool for a few hours, mixing it once in a while. Then, the hard part is to filter your soup to keep only the hash powder and get rid of the dirty brown water. What i use is a 25 micron 1 gallon bubble bag (the bottom bubble bag that collect very fine particles) wich makes the process very easy, but that's when you have a relatively large amount to clean. Then you just have to dry your hash, but be careful not to let it mold!!

I have not tried the water cure method but i know that a lot of people tried it and it works, and i have personally done the hash cleaning method i described. My main language is french so if there is parts that are not clear just ask.

Now eating herb that's another story. I don't like the taste of it and the one time I did it I got very bad stomach cramps and vomiting did not help but later after I'd came down from being way too high drinking some warm milk mixed with ginger made things better.

I was just about to ask what to do with it and luchiano and toxicc came through with good suggestions. I was considering making bubble hash or BHO, but I wasn't sure if that would get rid of the shitty taste or concentrate it.

Hash/oil extractions are a good way to take the good stuff out and leave most of the bad flavours behind.

I've had some nasty tasting bud with high chlorophyll content, but it always tasted fine through the vape. Only stuff I've vaped that tasted nasty was moldy as hell.

So like the others said, probably just inexperienced growers screwing things up with pesticides and fertilizers and not flushing properly.

A few years back there was some godawful weed around that made several people sick from the repulsive smell when smoking it. It smelled bad even by itself - kind of dirty somehow. It was described as smelling "like a brush fire in a Turkish asshole" -- anyone who smelled it nods vigorously, wide-eyed, it's true, that's what it was like - and has since become known by the shorter version "Turkish Asshole" as a metric for the worst possible weed. For example, "yeah, this stuff isn't so great lately, but at least it's no Turkish Asshole."
