MiniVAP Vaporizer

Hi! Glad you made the decision and that you like it so far... :)

Been vaping with this guy this past few days.. It extracts really slowly, like reeeeally slowly am I wrong? or is my unit defective?
Not too thick clouds, not too much visible vapor but lots of tokes (even at higher temps), even with smaller loads.

I agree with @PPN.
Well, sorry I think I made it more less clear on my explanation :p... My bad:
If you use the Teflon/PEEK core it will extract very slowly as you have noticed. This is because the MV was first designed with therapeutic (hospitalised, etc) users in mind if I'm not mistaken.

Yes the Decarb Kit will give you denser clouds, faster. Less hits, but say two extremely terpy ones, about five very dense milky hits and another six "blue vapour" ones. The "blue vapour" is loaded with decarbed THC and may not seem very daunting, but it ends up giving a very sedative effect. Avoid if you want to keep productive! (I just take a few hits to cool it down whilst on the water tool or J-hook and save it for the evening).

The reason why I got a decarb kit? For 40E it turns it into another vape at will. It doesn't do what either glass or PEEK/Teflon do on their end, but offers more versatility IMO... I have a three year old model too, with newer firmware.

yeap, that's something that comes up to my mind very often with this vape: "this must be the perfect vape for therapeutic use". It's very easy to dose and I'm amazed of what it can do with 50 mg of mid-low quality herbs.

I'm loving this toke distribution, I think I'm gonna stick to the QTC without decarb kit for now, it totally fits my needs, those thin hits have strong effects anyways. And yeah, I'd rather have the choice of switching cores, I wouldn't wanna miss teflon 100% of the times.

Something I'm not loving about this vape is its price range.. it's too high.. A Plenty doesn't work all that different from this vape and that one is about 235€... the equivalent minivap is worth 370€? both AC.

or at least, at that price, I was expecting it to be absolutely perfect and for me it hasn't been… There's no tool to load or unload the main bowl (not to mention the baskets). Some loading spoon would've already felt shabby, but there wasn't even a spoon. After 10 years in the market(?) I was expecting some sort of screwable cap with a funnel in the middle, something ala S&B with their portables, the loading grinder or whatever. Secondly I found an ugly grinder in my pack (third party very likely) and a brush that also seemed third party as well as the carrying case which is nothing more than a carrying bag for a camera (third party as well, ticket with original brand). It's not that I hate them, it's just after paying that kind of money, I was expecting original self manufactured products and accessories specifically for that vaporizer, somethig that you enjoy with all S&B vaporizers, you pay high but you get high quality well thought products, no third party nothing in their boxes (maybe the brushes?), everything self made and thought for the vape. Also it's kind weird that getting a quick 2 minutes heat-up time in 2018 is a sort of privilege worth +50€, or even +80€ if you want some conduction going on in the bowl (something that I'm sure will appeal to the majority of users).

On the other hand, I love this vape, the vape and the vapor itself. I've always been an efficiency chaser and this guy is massively efficient, never came across something like this, it's outstanding. I just believe that a 70-100€ price drop would be fairer with this one.

one of his own!

You need to realize that Hermes, miniVAP division, is a tiny speck compared to S & B. So, it's much more difficult, much more expensive to create in tiny quantities any miniVAP produced accessories. Also, most people have their own grinder (2,3,4,5?) so including that may be a waste.
They just focus on making the best possible vape!

They do cost a lot but bear in mind they cost $900 when first introduced so this is a bargain??? ;)

?? Do you load directly in the chamber, sounds like you sometimes do? Just curious as I always use the Flexicone modules.
Why do you load direct?

They do include a grinder and it's the most disgusting ugliest grinder I've ever come across. Don't get me wrong, I love this guy. I was just expecting more thoroughly thought and polished accessories, self made, just given the price range. The vape is great so far, vapor quality and experience, but as I said, for 50-100€ less it'd be fairer to my understanding. E-nano and Plenty are some of the vapes that compete in a similar niche of the market and they're both way underpriced conpared to this one.

I love this guy though, taking into consideration every aspect of the vaping experience I love, this guy scores high marks on everything. No stirring, even vaporization, great vapor production, flavour could be better although this one delivers pretty amazing flavour given there's no glass involved, vapor smooth enough, great vapor potency at lower temps, ease of cleaning, non-breakable parts, cordless home unit, massively efficient (the most efficient sesh vape out there?), etc..

I load directly in the chamber because I currently have mid-low quality herbs and I sense that it does a better job that way, it's like there's more conduction going on that way and my herbs get more thoroughly vaped. At the same time, since they're mid-low, I need more material to get good clouds, and this guy only holds somewhere around 0.12 g at max capacity loading directly into the chamber ;), I'm absolutely in love with the efficiency of this vape.

EDIT.

I'd love to see more development on the product. Things like: a funnel-cap or tool to load-unload the main chamber or the baskets, some attemp to design a cooling unit ala Mighty, some glass (stems, solid wta cap, etc…), etc.. maybe they don't do it because of what you said that they're a little company? plus they focus on therapeutic use so glass is not top 1 priority I suspect. I'd love to see an attemp to develop a battery at least half as long (in terms of length) maybe compromising in battery life while winning in portability? a smaller batt plus a compact cooling unit would look amazing compared to the big battery + the felixone+, specially when on the go. Long story short, they have two big screws up and down of the unit which allow for easy and further customization and development and despite of that, this vape still has almost the same gadgets and accessories as day 1? Having 2 screws up and down of the unit that are so easily customizable it's like a dream come true for a developer/designer and still they haven't taken too much advantage of that...

I've yet to hear that one...

...I look forward to hearing your thoughts on taste when you get something tasty!

Yeah, I totally agree with you on that. And can't really be 100% sure on potency either, tolerance is too low now.

Have you tried the e-nano dry? I find the taste of that one pararled by no other.

I feel I have to back up @stickstones assertion here. Minus my herbalizer maybe the minivap with teflon core provides the absolute best flavor out of all the vapes in my collection, very few can come even close.

Ok now I suspect I must find good meds ^^. I'll let you know.

A Plenty doesn't work all that different from this vape and that one is about 235€... the equivalent minivap is worth 370€? both AC.

Well, TL;DR an MV doesn't compare directly to a Plenty I'm afraid.
Vapes aren't easily comparable to begin with in terms of money invested.
They essentially have a different design and form-function approach too. So they won't perform comparably most times.
An E-Nano is not really made of revolutionary space age materials, it has a little Aluminium core, some wood and a glass tube. Not that we want it to be a Grasshopper, its fine as it is, but the cost of materials justifies the way it is made and vice versa. Don't you think?
Then again, after shipping, 31% taxes, etc, my E-Nano was only marginally cheaper than a desktop TC MV, including accessories, etc... So was my SV3; for a hunk of aluminium and a BBQ thermometer they charge about 220E without added costs (AND do I regret it? Fuck no!)...

So they are what they are IME: an MV is not a mid range device like a Plenty. First of all it is the only hybrid (AC-batteries) device I know on the market, so it is both a convection portable and a desktop, a small, tough world. :argh:
Secondly, It is one of the only two recognised medical grade devices on the market. The other one is the Volcano and costs around 400E. I think the point is clear...
I mean, ALL desktop devices are too expensive if you think like that:
Taking in account the EVO for example is around 386E for its base configuration with hydration, adding 31% tax if you're in the EU + shipping you're looking at ~575Euros, and nobody raises an eyebrow to that?

I think you had too high expectations. They ALL have their flaws IME. Otherwise we'd all only buy one!

Pitting Hermes vs S&B is unrealistic at best. Even though they both do their OWN research. I take it the other way round: I find it amazing for ONE single guy to compete on equal terms with those hordes of Germanic scientists and be able to give them a lesson or two. MV is almost an artisan vape taken to industrial level.
S&B are fully industrial products made by a big multinational company. It still isn't quite the same.

Last I heard Hermes was working with Bedrocan to develop a vape for hospitals. that may explain why the "recreational division" is a bit out of the picture.
But yes I agree, it is a shame there aren't more products and accessories made, it is SO customisable.

I'd suggest you email/give them a call and let them know how you feel. As you have probably experienced Jorge will give you his perspective on the matter without a problem. One of the things I like about him is his transparency.

Another idea is asking @Ratchett for his take the matter? He does 3D print some MV accessories and would be happy to participate I believe.

I believe I might have sounded angried or disapointed with the vape, which I'm not, I love this vape, it's just there are a few things not that great. That medical grade thing indeed increases its value. I see your point, yeah, I wasn't trying to pitty Hermes at all, I was just trying to be objective and rational with my new purchase. I'll just use it for a long time and won't speak till then, didn't mean to bother anyone!

best of luck

Hey @aniceto , don't go away. you were not bothering us. We were just responding to why tiny Hermes doesn't have the best accessory inclusions.
Let's get back on track---the miniVAP itself.
Please share your ongoing experience.

FYI--certain accessories add greatly to the miniVAP experience like @Ratchett 's Delta 3D Studio water pipe adapter:
https://delta3dstudios.com/portable-vaporizer-accessories/minivap-vaporizer/

A low diffusion bubbler or hydratube can add a little moisture to the vapor for a great experience.

Curved Solo Stem in the Minivap

Hey dude, I like that adapted stem. Don't you get your lips burnt after a few hits? doesn't the stem get too hot? Is it easy to break the glass bowl when trying to fit it inside the teflon ring? I'm planning on using teflon tape otherwise, would tape do it? when you say "if your stem doesn't fit, extract the teflon ring and put in around the base of the stem", you mean the thin ring of teflón or the wide one?

What @MinnBobber said, don't go! :)
I may have sounded a bit dry in my reply, sorry it is a bit hard to express emotions through a text.
Wasn't angry in the least. On the contrary, we're all members in here with equal rights and our experiences vary, because we're different and that is perfectly fine with me.
It is what makes this forum such a great place for information as well as meaningful human interaction.

This is an OG Teflon core Minivap, its about 4 years old. It came with a Teflon insert ring. Not sure how the new Teflon core units are constructed but the first ones had a Teflon ring that fits snug around the stem. The stem is from my old solo vape, it only gets hot in the chamber area where your material sits.

I love the flavour and clouds

how wide is that ring you write about? or long, not sure... is it like 3mm or over 1 cm? You mean the ring that covers the whole loading chamber wall?

Yes, not sure what the measurements are as I'm not at home to measure it. I mostly now use the minivap with the F-bomb and PHVE Gong comb that i picked up from Planet Vape. I get amazing taste and huge clouds using this combo, and I never go higher than the Green setting, usually start on Purple and end on Green.

"Civilized" as brother @ataxian would say

So I got a GC mini last week, I've been testing.. It is such a different experience from teflon! It seems to have different airflow characteristics since it doesnt have a center cylinder- more open flow. I have to wait for the glass core to heatup to get vapor on purple- a couple minutes at least. Feedback from my wife is that my breath now smells like I have been smoking joints!? Anyone else experience this? This doesnt happen with teflon. I read about drawing slowly with GC on this thread, so that has helped with decreasing throat irritation. Also, how the heck do you clean the intake screen? Looks like a special alan bolt?

I love this vape ^^, it's like a dream come true, very few downsides to me.

I'm looking forward to purchase a few extras next month, it will excel,, I'm sure :). I'm eager to see how this guy performs with glass involved :)

I read sticksones writing about something he called OGB glass mouthpiece, a good glass piece to achieve Mighty-like coolness, where can I find it? DHgate? how long needs the stem to be in order to achieve top coolness? I want it to be 18mm female joint and straight or slighty curved if posible (I wonder why you guys preffer the glass hooks? me don't like them ^^)

So far I prefer loading the chamber rather than the flexi + basket, they kind of make thinks harder..

Do you guys think there's gonna be any kind of sale this summer in their website? I'd hate myself if so.... ¬¬

@aniceto , here's one option I use, the @Oregonglassblower mouthpiece. Great quality and total custom as you can specify length, bend angle, type of tip, etc.
https://www.oregonglassblower.com/

Use with @Ratchett Delta 3D Studio silicone adapter.

wow, thanks a lot, they look amazing and prices are not that high. Such a pity I'm outside the USA/Canada, they don't ship abroad… I'd love to use that with the Arizer Solo GonG.

what GonG/SonG/whatever do you think works best with the MV? 18 or 14?

To me, it first of al seems to 'open up the airflow'. It seems to make it a lot easier to suck the life, euh, vapor out of it.

It makes the hits a lot smoother it seems, although, this new way of hitting it really hard sometimes does make me cough like crazy ...

I think every body who owns a minivap should give this a try....

With this mouthpiece I can create delicious Full on conveccion vapor from the first pull ...
