CCA Liger banger V3.0

My Coojo cap came earlier today and I got plenty of testing done before going to bed. It's gorgeous and the function is outstanding. Perfect seal on everything I have, and the difference w/ the 30mm is definitely noticeable from other caps, including the hurricane. The quality of the piece and the lead time was extremely on point, especially for the price. I definitely recommend contacting him.

Speaking of which, I told him I felt bad about all the glass he went through to get the piece right, and he mentioned he would be putting the other attempts (I assume the function is the same; the issue was the coloring) on insta. Might be able to swoop up a cap that's already made if you keep an eye on it. He hasn't asked me to post this, nor was it mentioned; I just really appreciate his work and I think some of you would too.

I'll post pictures this weekend; at work right now and was too focused on testing it earlier. I asked him to make the nipple on mine a couple mm's lower than previous customs from here, and although I haven't properly measured yet, the clearance between the nipple and the obsidian dish in my 30mm 3.0 is 0.5-1.5mm. I'll see if I can come up with a good measuring method with my calipers to get a solid answer on that. The point is, if you're looking for the others on insta, keep in mind that this is incredibly close and he does not have a liger setup to test with. It's very possible that one of the other attempts has a longer nip. For me, the way mine is was perfect. Super tight draw + super close contact = great control.

I recently picked up a couple of 6mm ruby spheres from Cryptic Culture and have been taking them for a spin in my Ligers.

They definitely vaporize your concentrates more quickly and efficiently.
Using a 30mm sapphire insert I'm down in temp from 590* w/o spheres to 570* with two spheres.
Could probably go lower will give it shot and report back.

The spheres add more thermal mass, surface area, and agitate the oil when the orbit the insert.

Using the 30mm Liger + two spheres + Coojo cap I can induce light spinning in the spheres.
You have "chase" them around the insert with the airflow.
I have one tight Coojo cap and one open; I use the tight one for the initial hit, open one for clean up.
The open one induces more spinning than the more restricted cap.
The CCA Hurricane cap does induce spin as it's air intake is offset and angled.
I like that cap, but not as much as the Coojo caps.

Using the 20mm Liger with sapphire insert + one ruby sphere provided what may be the best tasting dab I've ever had: Electric Lemon / Cuvee Live Resin with a drop of Electric Lemon HTSFE.
Mmmmm, lip smacking!
However, I've been using the 30mm with AH coil pretty much exclusively and have it dialed to my liking.
Even thought the aforementioned dab was heavenly tasting I still find the 30mm to provide more punch.
I will be using the 20mm + sphere now on occasion, when prior to the sphere it typically sat idle.
With the 20mm I used a Gordo Riptide Bubble cap which induces very fast spinning.
One neat thing was you could see the vapor intensify when you heard the sphere start to spin up.

Anyway for $20-$25 a sphere (Eternal Quartz also has them now: quartz, ruby & sapphire) I recommend.

how do you qtip the spheres? or what is the process like to clean the residue off them after each dab?

These are hands down the best caps for the flat ligers. Immediate difference when you use it the first time. On top of that, coojo's customer service is excellent. He is what you want from a glass artist. Great work and function with excellent pricing and most inpimportan, great customer service. Coojo and gordo are the only caps in use now.

I can't help but agree. These are the best things that happened to dabbing since the quartz bangers were created.

The Ruby will create more taste when used in quartz bangers, more vape production and faster dabs.

As for maintenance, the key points to remember is RUBY is SAPPHIRE but with an extra element that turns it red.

You need to treat these Ruby like sapphire and avoid thermal shock. I do not iso qtip the Ruby. I use dry qtips to clean the insert and Ruby and use about 3 -4 qtips to clean insert and Ruby.

To clean them, when cold, I put them in a ISO bath overnight and rub with a paper towel prior to use.

I have done insert drop in dabs with the rubies inside the insert without any issues. Using rubies inside inserts will cause the inserts to spin too. Not on the 30mm sapphire insert but all others have that the spheres spin in.

@alittledabwilldoya' Great info, I'll have to try out my quartz beads in the obsidian insert, and I'll have to compare my different caps for effect. I hadn't thought about using different caps at different parts of the rip; good call. Also I just grabbed a pair of ruby and sapphire beads from EQ!

@Shooby I completely agree. Phenomenal work and customer service, with a price that beats everyone else. Coojo was a breath of fresh air, for sure.

do you use 2 qtips at once to hold the sphere more in place while cleaning it hot after a dab? seems like you'd just be chasing it with 1 qtip around the insert and it being very difficult to clean the full round surface every time

Check out "ceramic tweezers" on Amazon. I use that for grabbing the quartz beads i have in my setups. picking it up with that and dropping it in some iso after every dab is probably easier than qtipping it.

was just mentioned above, and it's pretty well known that you can't thermally shock the sapphire/ruby like quartz....

I use two qtips at once to clean the inserts when im using the 23.5mm full opaque or 30mm sapphire. Both of those set ups have 3 rubies inside. When qtipping, my goal isnt to clean the rubies but to clean the insert. As you move the qtip around, you are moving the rubies and cleaning the surface of the spheres. So far, my rubies stay shinny and clean as long as i qtip normally. I use about 3-5 qtips total per dab to clean the opaques but only 2 for the 30mm sapphire.

TBH, these spheres are fairly strong as i have put a room temp ruby in my 35mm banger with 30mm sapphire while hot and nothing happened. Waited a min and it was hot. No cracks inside the sphere. I have over the weekend removed it from the banger while hot and put it inside an cold quartz insert to cool off. Nothing happened as well. I dont know if i used the same sphere as I have 5 spheres. I did have my rig tip over last week with my cracked 20mm sapphire and 2 rubies. The 20mm sapp landed in a puddle of water and the rubies rolled thru water and onto the carpet and burned a tiny hole. No damage to either rubies and the insert was all cracked up to begin with.

So is there any real pictures of the Liger Air anywhere?

Sapphire ordered 5/31.
Sapphire received 6/11.

New one is on top.

The machining/polishing feels different... Seems more detailed. The surface feels smoother than my old batch ones. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the walls are like half a millimeter higher and the diameter about half a millimeter wider on the new one. It doesn't slide down as easily into the bucket and I'm seeing less wiggling/movement in there.

Weight of old ones is 14.2 grams.
Weight of new one is 11.4 grams.

From a different angle than pictured, you can clearly see that the bottom/flat surface is significantly thinner.

Not yet sure what the difference in performance from the weight will be. Time to do some testing. Will report on that later.

Thanks for this explanation. That's exactly what I was curious about. Will probably be ordering some of those ruby/sapphire spheres to try as well.

I have been using my Flat coil 30mm setup with obsidian insert lately. It's nice having all of that real-estate after hitting the 20mm for a few months. 20mm still reigns king but I think the 30mm will stay out for a while.

Consider getting the Augusthaus custom coil for your 30mm to get more performance and enjoyment out of it. On the 20mm, the barrel coil not only heats up the bottom, but the insert walls as well because of the way it wraps around on the bucket... I'm sure this goes a long way towards efficiently vaporizing oil over the regular 30mm which only has the bottom heating up.

The AH coil essentially does the same thing for the larger 30mm 'real-estate' as the barrel coil does for the 20mm.

How long is the wait normally for an insert? I ordered an obsidian insert almost a month ago and it still hasnt even been shipped out! The email said it normally takes 1-2 weeks, and i emailed cca710 on the 3rd week. I got a reply from a rep named Zach who told me it should be out by the end of that week.

Im now on the 4th week tho! The craving to taste a dab off that insert is driving me crazy lol

Just placed my order with Coojo for my cap for the Liger. Don't even have my first Liger yet and I'll have three carb caps for it
He was VERY prompt and professional. $50 for a CFL custom cap and he'll finish it tonight and send it out tomorrow. I was shocked when he told me that.

On a side note, I recieved an email from Zach at CCA710 informing me he expected most, if not all, Liger-air pre-orders to ship within the week.

I think you are right, I should invest in one for sure.
Just got a Terp Trunk 2.0 for it as well as a Coojo bubble. :)

the airflow spout on the bottom of the Terp Trunk is usually pointing too high at the banger wall rather than into the insert. Hence, why I suggest either asking Chad Bro to make you a terp trunk with the directional spout pointing more downwards (and ask to have the airflow restricted more), or giving the cap you already have to a local glass blower so they can readjust the spout to be more downward.

Excellent.

I was an avowed user of the 20mm for a long time … until I got the AH coil and larger shroud.
I use the 20mm on occasion now, but the 30mm + sapphire insert + AH coil + Coojo Cap has been my daily driver for quite some time now.

Thought I was pretty much at the top of my dabtech/satisfaction, with the above mentioned set-up running @590*, then I bought a couple of ruby spheres.

Now I'm down to 560* with better taste and thicker clouds and am going to try a dab @550 right now.

What size rubies for the 30mm?
6mm

I did pull out the calipers to see if i got 5 or 6 and it read 6.00mm. On point. I only measured one sphere.

***EDIT***

Got confirmation from Zach that i should be getting an Liger Air as a replacement for my 3.0 flat coil Liger that i bought in 2017. The question is just when? Who gets priority?

If they are making production of this Air, where are the pics of the actual prototypes? Are the Beta testers testing?

With the 30mm Sapphire in a quartz banger, I went down to 440F last night on the MiniNail coil and still felt really hot. Gonna have to Ktype this bad boy to know where i am at.

Today's set up is a 25mm Halen Bucket with a 20mm obsidian and one ruby with the gordo bubble at 550F on the Augusthaus. Vapes much faster with obsidian than sapphire. I can actually see the banger clear out with the obsidian and one ruby. And that one ruby is spinning like crazy inside the obsidian. The machining of the obsidian is smoother than sapphire and other inserts.
