Thanks - I ordered the glass Davinci ones but would prefer non-glass if there is such a thing.

Does a second Pearl work just as well as the glass spacers?

Yes it does, as a matter of fact, before the commercially available spacers were available, I just rolled up a big old stainless steel screen into a ball the same size as the pearl and used that to minimize my consumption...worked great and saved money...SCORE!

I have only had my IQ for a week so have not yet done a deep cleanse, but from the issues others have posted about I am wondering if these Brushpicks might serve a purpose for the area behind the flavor chamber? I use them for my teeth - the bristle side is pretty soft but it seems it could help dislodge debris?

I ordered an IQ yesterday, it will be about a week. I'm interested in the above too as it really seems like cleaning underneath the flavour chamber is one of the most overlooked things. Is this what makes things stick out and the covers not close fully? What I'm concerned about is damaging any wiring but it seems like it's all out of the way.

https://blog.puffitup.com/2017/08/da-vinci-iq-teardown/

The last photo is the most useful for me at the moment. Shows the internal plastic from what I can see air goes through the heater and directly into the flavour chamber. Is this right? Is there anything I can damage from sticking something in there?

Tried every spare I have that fits. one from Davinci, two from other devices that are the same size and power (one from another vape, one from a fan). No difference. I'm an IT guy and this reminds me of blown firmware I've dealt with.
Just got back in town. Gonna finally speak to Davinci tomorrow.

If you get any tips, please share.
I have the same issue.

Want to know if there's a way to fix it myself.

Hi guys so I signed up as a newbie in terms of vaping herbs to ask for some advice. I got an Davinci IQ since it seemed to be very well received by the reviews but now I am somewhat disappointed for a relatively expensive product.

My biggest problem is that the top lid of the vaporizer constantly opens when I am vaping at a modest temperature of 170°C.

Second, the machine always resets itself to Fahrenheit which is no use to me and even if I set it in the App I have to reset it every time I use it.

Third, it hardly produces vapor. But this might be to my inexperience. I tried packing it very dense with medium grind which was recommended but the draw resistance was incredibly high and barely any vapor. I also tried rather loose packing which also does not help.

I had previous experience with the Pax 3 of a friend which worked flawlessly with different herbs but the Davinci IQ convinced me with a changeable battery.

I am close to ask for a refund and get the Pax 3.

Maybe if someone has any suggestions to what I am doing wrong of what might keep the lid closed I would be really grateful.

Thanks

Update: Davinci has received my malfunctioning IQ. They say it'll take up to two weeks to determine if they can fix it or if they'll have to send me a new one.

hey, welcome to the forum. Lack of vapor may be due to you vaping at such a low temp, try bumping up the heat. I start at 176 minimum, a finer grind would improve vapor production but I do fine with a medium grind.

As to the lid opening, a few people has had that issue and it's one that Davinci will have to fix. The temp going back to farenheit doesn't sound right. Do a hard reset and see if it fixes it

Just received my IQ and I love it. I got the spacers and was able to pack just a tiny amount in the chamber. The flavour is amazing, it doesn't taste tainted at all and seems to linger. Very clean. The density is much better than I expected and the session can last quite long or I can have a couple of sessions depending how much I pack in. The two mouthpieces are quite different from each other and I can see myself enjoying both. It feels like I can tailor the draw resistance and I enjoy that. The AVB is very evenly baked I think the glass spacers and pearl really help with that

I think it's safe to say I've tested it quite well tonight :whoa: maybe it's because it has a very different feel to it than the S&B products, I definitely think it tastes cleaner and the vapour is possibly cooler for everything being ceramic. I didn't feel any heat near my mouth, the body did get quite warm but it's tolerable for me. I could see where people would be sensitive to this. I guess the glove is a good idea.

I can see where this is a little flawed though, just a couple of negatives like the catches - the battery cover feels quite tight. You have to listen out for that click where the clip slots back in place. It sprang out on me. The flavour chamber is very loose on my unit so when I turn it to take the battery out the flavour chamber slips out. When the flavour chamber is in the top cover doesn't seem to click closed like it does with no flavour chamber(the magnet pulls the cover shut). This is really me trying to pick out flaws here, the catches do stay shut they can just be a bit fiddly - I'm quite coordinated but other people might find these things awkward.

The size and feel of the IQ though. It feels sexy and sleek. I want to keep that body as pristine as I can. I've decided that she's female and called Olivia - after Olivia Dunham from Fringe. I like the weight, it's not too heavy but still reassuring. It feels sturdy and I like that it can stand up on its own. I know this will fit in my pocket and not draw much attention too

I got the app to work first try. On a Sony Xperia Android, Z3? it's quite old. I haven't tried IOS yet. I have an iPad, might give it a go for a goodnight vape session.

Pods would be a nice idea - I have read that they were working on some. Definitely get my vote. Would be awesome for treks, the beach and days out now we're well into summer. This is definitely a vape that I will be taking on the go. Some sort of pod case may be needed if they do appear.

This wipes the floor with both of the previous conduction vapes I've owned. The nokiva mentioned above and a flowermate aura not much of a comparison but if you're new to vaping you might have tried something similar to compare this to. Like everyone says it's difficult to put it against the Mighty (my first proper vaporizer) but they are definitely in the same league. I'd be torn to declare a winner as both of them have some unique plus points but I will say that the IQ has satisfied my VAS for now. I don't know if I would have gone on such a spending spree if I had started off with the IQ. This could easily become the perfect vape for me with a few refinements.

It's a shame to see users with defects but I guess that's why forums exist. I bet a lot of people don't even bother reading up on things until something goes wrong and then they're brought here. There is a lot of knowledge on these pages. I lot of clever enthusiastic and helpful people those glass spacers exist because people spoke up and the manufacturers listened. My first experience would have been a lot different without this forum so thank you all.

It's also good to see a 10 year warranty and the manufacturer being active on here. I know it's disheartening when something breaks. I broke a digital guitar twice replacement parts £150 per time, I doubt I could get parts to fix it if it went again now. 10 years is a long time to be covered for something like this. It feels like we're in good hands.

I'll definitely be buying more products from Davinci. I'm very interested to see what these guys have in store for us in the future. The Classic and Ascent look good but I'm in love with this little piece.

Two ideas I had were an IQ tuff - just a little bigger, some cooling fins and sturdier catches. Wouldn't mind if it was a screw fitting and some sort of honey collector for the flavour chamber - I wouldn't be sure how this would work though. It was just a thought to put a spacer in there and maybe cushion it with some mini nuggs.

Right I'm going for that bedtime session I mentioned earlier. Happy vaping guys :nod::peace::zzz:

@C00kie do you take your battery out after use? I have noticed that the device 'defaults' after removing the battery.

I did get the app to work on my ipad-its much more responsive on that than my android phone. Switched straight to precision when I pressed the + key on the app. Turned in to standby mode straight away too. I didn't get that on the Android version BUT this could also be my phone being quite out of date.

So far still loving the flavour and effects of the IQ. I think I'll invest in some spare batteries and an external charger as I'm going to be using this more than I initially expected.

I picked up an IQ at 2017 420 sale as a backup for my hopper, which only lasted a few months later. So after a year use I can say I am happy. It is an object of beauty, so sleek and neat. I have since ordered spare mouthpiece, spacers, battery and glass bong adapter? I do find I need the spacers as the bowl is too big just for me. I tend to start at level 2, run it for taste, then stir the bowl and finish on level 3. If there was one criticism, it takes a lot of cleaning, especially with sticky bud that clogs up the 4 holes in oven and the flavour chamber too becomes oiled up. One of the dot matrix display LEDs has dimmed. I haven't bothered with the app and Bluetooth. ❤️ My IQ.

Davinci allegedly fixed my IQ. And then sent it back by incredibly cheap shipping. Been in transit for over a week and still not here. And they used such crappy shipping that I can't even track it anymore, the version of UPS they used "handed it off to USPS" and considers it delivered, now I just have to hope USPS eventually gets it to me. And my local USPS loses stuff a lot.

Between how long it took for them to fix it and how long return shipping is taking, I will have not had a working IQ in over a month. And for me this is medical, NOT for fun.

That is not the kind of service I expect with a product that cost just short of $300, purchased a couple months ago, and claimed to have an excellent 10 year warranty (the main reason I bought the thing). Never had a vape take this long to be fixed and returned to me. VapeXhale and Arizer are both much faster when servicing a unit and shipping it back. And they included tracking until the vapes were actually delivered to me, not just til they were handed off to a 2nd shipper.

I 'liked' this but I don't like it. Does feel like they could do better. I'm sorry this has happened. Hope you get some support.

Just going to sit on the patio with my IQ and enjoy the evening. I'm in Texas and it's too damn hot out during the day. The IQ, by the way, continues to impress as a take anywhere vape. Very easy to live with, I've found it to be the portable I reach for every time I just want to get medicated, not play around stirring after every hit LOL. Pack it, vape it, dump it, refill it...once a week I do a thorough cleaning which takes me about a half hour but that's it. With as much use as it gets...that's not bad.

The IQ is a great vaporiser but like so many other clients i still find it really too hot, hopefully they'll find a solution to that overheating problem (even if i understand that this is a form-factor issue, and once you heat the chamber at >380 F you can't expect it to be cool on the outside... but neither that hot i'd say...)
The other problem is really easy to solve: get rid of that gasket on which the savour chamber is resting.
It's truly impossible to clean and there must be a solution without that gasket, or at least making it removable to access the dirt underneath it.
I really like the stealthy aspect but it can/must be perfected (and some other slighter things like the buzzing sound and some leds that seem to die after 3 weeks...)
p.s: sorry if that has already been said too many times, it's my first comment on this great forum ;)

You sir... know how to live! Happy wife, happy life lol.... Happy dad, all is rad lol....

So I just bought another IQ...
This time directly from the Davinci website.

So if there's any issues, the warranty better work.

I'm in Canada by the way.

Awesome! Yes, we'll cover your 10 year warranty ;-).

Thanks for the suggestion, i may try it one of these days.
Talking about the Da Vinci shop online, you should do something about 2 things:
1- you can't sell the IQ glass spacers for 11.37€ and charge 12.78€ more to send it to Europe. Some clients could really be angry, 14.94$ to send something that weighs around 1 or 2 grams...
2- When you put those glass fillers in the cart and forget to buy it (or forget to delete it, because 15$ for shipping is outrageous ;) ) you receive an email that says "with the coupon SMILE10" save 10% but here comes the joke: "offer not valid with Da Vinci IQ Vaporizer or IQ Accessories".
So you end up brewing over that ludicrous shipping price for something that weighs nothing.

I just wanted to call your attention on those 2 facts because that's not very business-minded (those glass fillers should be in the box when a vaporizer costs more than 200€, just my 2cents ;)
