Just got mine and I’m absolutely loving it. Quick question, is it fine to leave a battery in it? Will it eventually go to standby mode?

Also is it better to charge via the cable or use a battery charger?

It’s totally fine to leave your battery in. I have always removed the battery to charge because I assume it to be a faster charge but I think it’s also fine to charge with the cable (albeit slower).

Ive been playing with my new tubo and have to say on demand convection is a wonderful thing. The fact its regulated just sinches it for me. Played with a millaana and although theyre pretty this is just an all round better unit IMO. This has won a permanent place in my line up for sure, kind of a portable desktop.

I've never had any issues with leaving the battery in, the device eventually turns off, but it's probably safer to turn it off before leaving it.

There's some disagreement about internal or external charging for batteries in a mod box, conventional wisdom has it that one should always use an external charger, but more recently, people claim that mod boxes have become advanced enough to manage the charging for itself. I've charged the evic directly for months, and never had any issue. I do try not to leave it plugged in one it's fully charged, but that's just me.

Thanks everyone!do you guys prefer to use the rimmed baskets or does anyone use without a bottom basket? Is there an affordable place to buy more baskets? I got a bunch of rimless baskets with my DDave kit, but it’s a struggle to get them to fit.
I always use the rimmed baskets. I use the @muunch method for microdosing; flattening one rimmed basket screen to use as a "cap" on top of another basket screen, with the herb packed in between them. I've also found that with a slight tamp, I can get away with no basket "cap" and I rarely ever have any herb on the heater screen. If I'm vaping with others I pack the glass joint and then cap with a basket screen.

I'm using these basket screens from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Everydlife-Crystal-Screens-Diameter-Stainless/dp/B073WQJYRS

Has there been an update on the stems that allow the use of S&B's dosing capsules?
Pretty stoked about the Tubo! I was also wondering if you could buy extra batteries from Lamart. I dont see them individually in the store. Does the Tubo Evic come with a battery included or do you need to add one with your order?
I clicked the battery option but dont know if I'm getting one or two at this point.

I can’t comment on the status of the stems that accept the S&B capsules (I’m really looking forward to them so hopefully they aren’t too far off!), but yes, you can add a battery to your Tubo order. @funkyjunky has Samsung 30Qs for purchase with your Tubo for ~$7. I picked one up with my order. I don’t believe there’s an option to add more than just 1 battery to your order but it wouldn’t hurt to ask @funkyjunky if you can purchase extras.

I picked up 4, LG HG2s and they work great with the Tubo. The 30Q works great as well. If you’re planning to pick up additional 18650s for your Tubo (you should), make sure you purchase them from a reputable supplier. Liionwholesale, IMRBatteries and Illumn are all trusted vendors. The Samsung 30Q, LG HG2 and Sony VTC6 are the batteries you should look for.

What I'd like to know it's how increasing the resistance affects the load on the battery and chip? Am I incorrect in thinking that increasing resistance will help the evic reach temp with less of a load on the device? If not, can someone explain how the resistance affects energy distribution?
the resistance is a given physical value of your coil. by increasing it inside the menu/device you are only virtually shifting the digital temperature scale against real temperature. the result is that 200degC is hotter than 200degC in reality or the other way around when decreasing it.
it has no influence on the chip. i posted a rambling about how different given resistances of different tubos might have a minimal influence on this, personally i think it is not noticeable.

the battery can be left in the device. however the device is not turned off completely and is turning to a sleep state, which still uses a tiny amount of energy. expect the battery to be dead if left in the device for months, it will take a long time tho.

charging inside the evic is fine. the charging circuits used in mods are good. external chargers might be able to charger quicker (can really recommend the nitecore Q2 or Q4, 2Ampere charging, very fast).

battery can be added with a tubo evic to the cart, its a checkbox. i can only send one battery inside the device because of shipping regulations, thats why i dont offer spares.

Welcome to FC @cfang. The best way is to shoot a Private message to @funkyjunky asking to be added to a list and/or order now. See how long the build will take for the Tubo you desire.
actually the best way is to write an email to paddy at support@lamart.ch and wish to be added to the drop info mail list. a mail will be sent out with info prior to the next drop.

@sickmanfraud, thanks for the input about the firmware. switching between steps when tempstepping should already be the case, if its not for you, please update to the latest version.

Great news!
Are the prices and different models of wooden stems already known? Are there even different models?
And will there be enough for everyone or do I have to be first in the shop?
Or is this all part of the surprise?

So many questions :D. I'm so impatient. Highly looking forward to those stems.

Wooohooo! I cant wait for these!! After having all the stems and the wool whip I need a couple!
Ooooo I've bin playing with the basket screens for vaping kief (Crystal or whatever you guys call it wherever you are) is incredible! I'm certain its work brilliant with some good hash or bubble hash. Im going to be trying it when my ladies come down in a few weeks.
Extracts so quickly and so hard at 210°c (my go to temp) and the flavour is immense!

Hello all! New user here! Just wanted to say I'm patiently waiting for my Tubo also! Ordered on 3/21, shipped on 4/27, and still waiting a total of 69 days later! My advice is do not get the cheep shipping! I'm really hoping it's at home waiting for me today after work, after the holiday weekend. The US mail sucks!

Dear FC,

may i introduce,
xyoU2bI.jpg

the tubo evic
Gck7aA1.jpg

the heater consists of three coils in parallel, 26awg ss316l, ~0.3ohms, inside borosilicate tubes inside a 18mm female glass joint. the wire connections are crimped, no solder is used in the heater. the visual wires are high temp silicone, end immediately after entering the tubes and only get warm to the touch at max.

YnNmnoE.jpg

its powered by a joyetech evic vtc mini 75watts temperature control box mod.
resulting in convection on demand temp control.
the temperature is controlled at the coil which makes it draw speed independent.
it can be charged by usb and has replaceable batteries.
one battery seems to last up to 5 bowls (each 0.15-0.2g), this needs more testing.
it takes any kind of 18mm male connection with screen, elb or eq basket inserted.

izMyWdE.jpg

The 510 connection (example: https://imgur.com/tKq2Os7) is not threaded, so you can slide out the mod in case, by unscrewing the signed screws. its not a recommended procedure on a regular basis, might glue the evic in for future models.

in this pic you see the 18mm part capped with a flattened eq basket screen to prevent herbs from falling out. only needed with the mouthpiece as the 18mm points down then. not with water pieces as the bowl end points upwards.
xSTnrmn.jpg

The outer shell is laser cut from swiss eco-friendly poplar wood, there are some other possibilities like beech or birch, maybe also colored.

The firmware on the evic vtc mini was modified with the “myevic” custom firmware (https://github.com/ClockSelect/myevic/tree/master/bin) with some modifications to its source code.

The resulting “tubomyevic” firmware currently has user changeable resistances, up to 20seconds puff time out and an adjusted temperature range from 150C to 260C (302F to 500F). there is also the ability to hide other modes like vw,ti,ni.
Doing some calibrations, current TCR is set to 200 to have accurate load temperatures displayed.

here is a video of it in action before i changed the software:
with the software change, there is no more need to re-push the button and the displayed temperatures are corrected.

and https://www.reddit.com/r/vaporents/comments/54whhq/the_tubo_evic/ is the link to the recent reddit thread with some additional info, tried to include as much here from the start.

Currently i am sourcing parts for a small number of units to see how assembly goes and to come up with total costs/a price.

i hope you like it :D
The case is wood?

Just paid $30 CAD for 15 rimmed basket screens shipped, ouch!
If I can recommend a tip: get the rimmed basket screens right away! I lost the 'one' that I got with my Tubo on the 2nd day. Also lost my precious pick in a small patch of grass, etc.

Just bought 4 Samsung 30Qs and 4 LG HG2 batteries from Illumn. $90 CAD shipped. Super ouch! I also use a double batt ecig. I should get a 4 batt charger. I have a 2 battery charger right now.
I didn't know what battery was what. I was using the same batteries for 6 months. Figured I should just start new with legit batteries.

I really hope I can use less and save.. with all this spending.

Yes
The heater is wired into the mod box, then the mod box, heater and female glass joint are boxed in wood creating a single unit.
I know how your pool deck loves glass you bring home. The only negative is the fragility of the glass enclosed. I'm conscious of this more with my Tubo than with the Mi for some reason.

My Tubo was waiting on my porch for me after work today! What a glorious day it is!
Glorious day indeed.
Have a good honeymoon.

That's exactly what I bought! Lol. That's what it ended up costing me with extra shipping fees and exchange rate. I wish I got that 40 pack! I have to use my Tubo outside, so if I lose something, it's gone; not floating around my room somewhere.

I miss my pick. Anyone find good subtitutes? This is the closest thing I've found, but it costs too much to bother.

I just love the grip of that wooden handle.
