During barrel production, the insides of barrels are typically toasted—either over an open flame or over an oven. Toasting both mellows the tannins in the wood, as well as changes the flavors the barrel might impart from raw wood to more spicy, vanilla notes—toasting actually helps release vanillin from the cellulose in the wood. There are varying degrees of toasting—from a light toast to a heavy toast and, as you might imagine, that changes the way they can influence a wine. Essentially, the heavier the toast, the stronger the barrel’s flavors.
The word “charred” implies that something has gone past toasting to partially burning, and indeed charred barrels look black inside—they are about an eighth of an inch charred. Charred barrels aren’t really used for wine, but they are a part of bourbon production. Charred barrels also impart a darker color, smoky notes as well as caramel, honey and plenty of spicy accents.

On one of the reviews I read online, it said due to the electromagnetic induction heating, to never use a metal Dabber n to strictly use a glass or ceramic Dabber when the device is powered up and dropping in a dab.. I wonder if there’s any truth to this or if he meant it more as nothing magnetic? I don’t think I even own a Dabber that isn’t metal of some kind... just now finally got around to ordering myself a VapCap, as a first time VapCapper I went with the M starter bundle. Really curious to see how well the Switch heats it up.. if all the stars align, n the Switches are shipped, n my vapcap arrives, Memorial Day weekend should be one for the ages.

Don't forget that custom glass piece with the massive joint! I wonder what just that is worth?
It does appear to properly vaporize extracts, this is just not a good VAPORIZER for FLOWERS IMO. If it wasn't for the dab functionality, I personally feel that this would be a major POS for flowers.
What I can't comprehend is WHY? There are so many conduction vapes that work respectively... and this is the best that Dr Dabber can come up with? Should have dropped the flower charring functionality...this is going backwards IMO

Yes. I save the quartz and white ceramic for extracts (don’t use the white one much) and the black for herbs. You can do it however you want, though.

Sorry Sticks I should be more specific, the piece is called a Ceramic Leaf Filter Cap used when vaping herb. If you look in the manual its on page 8, its item #6.

Gotcha. I don’t have a manual. I have an early build of a cup with a lid but don’t use it. I’ve been doing my dry herb use with the black ceramic cup and no lid.

It does appear to properly vaporize extracts, this is just not a good VAPORIZER for FLOWERS IMO. If it wasn't for the dab functionality, I personally feel that this would be a major POS for flowers.

Yes, a step toward combustion... not like it's needed to produce toluene and benzene, even at temps below charring.

how is the flavor on the vapor? It looks soo dark like a half combusted bowl I need to see reviews of the flower mode I guess but I just don't think this device is for me. No hate

No worries. Check my earlier posts and video on the remains. It tastes like smoke to me but leaves behind coal. I’m gonna start saving up for a bbq.

Its not burning your herb, its pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is the breakdown of compounds and even happens during vaporization. Carcinogens are produced during combustion and you're riding the fine line when you are vaporizing. This isnt combusting and is more efficient then other vapes out on the market. It is a lot to shell out if it may not be great with flower/buds. Maybe after a few more videos come out with it and more reviews with mods that make it more bud friendly may change a few peoples minds. Not all of us have access to oil/wax concentrates to justify the purchase for that alone.

I think this is very much a subjective point. Many people are quite happy with how they currently vape and won't see almost combusting their weed as a "step forward." Most people I've seen who have tested the Switch so far have reported disliking the effects with flower, so I don't think it's unreasonable for folks to start forming opinions based on that.

People disliking the experience is also subjective, doesn't mean it's a bad or unsafe device. Opinion's can easily changed by facts. You're near the combustion point even when you vape and can ACTUALLY combust depending on the device. I agree that some people are just gonna stick to their ways no mater what but I feel the opinions are there cause people are seeing black abv and are being told it's like tasty smoke. Sticks has already said it's pyrolysis but honestly didn't do a good job at all explaining the process. Dr dabber needs to explain the process the flower/wax are going through.
