I've loaded a dab in cold, turned on the PID and vaped it up as the temps climbed. It takes a lot of pulls but you'll extract it all eventually =) The flavors in the beginning when the dish hits about 300F are amazing, if I remember right the vapor started when the PID hit around 500F.

When i uptempo with the SIC Halo I set it to 480, preheat the cap until the temp starts going back up, remove cap, turn off the coil, load the dish at around 420 turn it back on usually before it hits 400 and it goes up to ~510 in about 6-10 seconds and the dab is gone before it settles back to 480

All I do these days are uptemps! So damn smooth, so tasty.... just no real downsides IME. I've been exploring the upper temp range recently and have just been getting BLASTED! I set my PID to 650, and start to melt the dab off at 350....and cap at 500-550 and giv'er! Just loving life!

I've noticed that high5 has a 28mm SiC dish now to compete with d-nail! How big is the dnail sic?

Thanks @JCat for figuring out it... in a way you are correct @ensabbahnur the noises you are hearing are indeed contacts being opened or closed, but they are auxiliary outputs that have nothing to do with e-nail functionality, so they can be deactivated and your e-nail should quiet down.

All this talk about e-nail guts has me jonesing to build a new box using one of those E5CC controllers. Might be time to put some things together soon so I can get a second e-nail setup going.

----------

It has been a long time since I've delved into this thread and have gone back to review some older post and the great discussion between myself and some members about the merits of heat sinks vs fast-response feedback loops. I've seen many of the heat-sink camp using Newvape parts in combination with SiC Halo's as far back as page 18 of this thread. I see that Newvape offers both "E-nail" and "Flowerpot" SiC/Halo dishes to adapt 20mm barrel coils onto an SiC dish. I'm interested in mashing up some of their parts with my D-Nail Slim Series nail and SiC dish (and soon to be Sapphire dish as well).

I am not interested in vaporizing flower in the same glass rig I use to vaporize oil and hope that I don't have to give up my D-nail 14mm joint or Slim series heat-dissipating base, so I'm wondering if any of the NewVape parts can attach to my existing base. I am interested in dabbing on a boat, and thought back to the barrel coil and heat shield adapter, wondering if that might help with more stable temperatures in a windy environment. So, on to NewVape's website- not sure if this is @NewVape710 or @NewVape420 territory here....

Under "Enails" they list a "D-Nail Wrap-Around Post for 20mm Enail Coils (3081)"

They also have the "FlowerPot 20mm Coil Cover (3061)"

And under Flowerpot Parts, I see the "D-Nail Wrap-Around Post for 20mm Coils (3075)" That one looks like it has a thicker threading underneath.. and no chance of working with an e-nail.

Could anyone that's using any of these NewVape pieces in combination with their D-Nail pieces post up some photos so I can see if anything might fit together? I am really not interested in swapping out the perfectly-fitting, heat dissipating, elegant and compact design of the Slim series

For a decidedly old school three-fitting "universal" gigantic piece-tipping heatsink.

Is there any way for these parts to get along?

The only Newvape part that I heard that work on the slim base is the coil cover. But upside down i think.

PlanetVape sells the Hybrid Nail with a 28mm SiC halo option add on. They also have the Ti 28mm cap/dabber.

I think the "28mm" SiC dish listed on New Vape is the same as the D-NAIL SiC dish.

But, if I remember correctly i'm pretty sure the DNAIL dish is actually 24mm inner diameter. Maybe its 28mm cute diameter? Im not sure.

Yeah, but @biohacker had said high5 and planetvape vape was selling a 28mm, and im pretty sure he meant to say NewVape, which then I wanted to mention its the same as the DNAIL website dish.
Nah he was correct planet vape has a option to add a 28mm Sic dish for like $93 when purchasing there hybrid nail but I only see it on planetvape and not offered alone. They also do not name who the dish is made by but best option at the moment is 1 from NewVape.

I cant find it, but do you not think the Planet Vape SiC dish for $93 is not the same as the DNAIL dish?

It most likely is as I don't know another company selling a dish like that but honestly can't confirm for sure, but I can say the Dnail Sic halo is awesome and you cannot go wrong with it. Super easy to clean , retains heat well and provides a really nice flavor.

Yeah I've already owned 2 different ones, along with the sapphire. Was just curious if there was anything new, along with some members saying they prefer quartz rather than SiC, but personal taste preference isn't a joke. The same thing goes with flower vapes flavor and the type heating element that they use.

Looks like D-nail has "factory second" SiC halos on sale for $40 now. All their $60 halos have been out of stock for a while, coincidentally at the time when NewVape started stocking them.

I've been contemplating getting a different base. Do they not make a nice fitting one in 18mm for female joints? All I see is the 14mm. I just find a bit of wiggle to my 14/18 combo. It works better as an 18, but still i'd like a proper drop in 18mm if possible.

Thanks for the heads up on the SiC seconds deal. Too bad they never seem to have SiC dishes, slim series, and their entry level E-nail available at the same time. Throughout the 4/20 sale you were not able to purchase the entry level E-nail with a Slim Series base and SiC Halo, only a Titanium one. I have been waiting for six months to buy a second setup.

As for your question... To my knowledge they only have the 14m/10f adaptor that I love, then the 14/18m dual sized adaptor that's hit or miss depending on how the glass joint is ground :/

Sweet! Just curious why you went with the quartz in addition to the SiC?

I wonder if a sapphire halo will ever surface again from Dnail?
Got it in a trade, would like to try sapphire but my main interest was the SiC dish.

Curious on your thoughts with the SiC halo @Silver420Surfer as well as the comparison with the quartz, especially with cleaning! Hope you enjoy 'em
Will answer that in a day or so once the novelty of having some new toys wears off lol
I'm rocking that #GreenDotLabs Black Label FSE "Butterscotch", which is "BC Vanilla Kush" x "Instant Karma"
I honestly don't know if it gets better than this(imo) lazy Sunday, Pirates baseball on tv, fire rips of Butterscotch fse on a SiC dish.....These are the days folks!!!

Shit looks like effin brains in a jar lol. Tastes like a Woerthers original candies/salted carmel/tiny bit of fuel on exhale.

Did you get their carb cap. Essential, IMO. Carb cap with forked dabber handle is an outstanding configuration and, again IMO only, its the only cap that will work adequately with the Halo.

Sure did.
And I definitely agree the DNail carb cap is the bees knees. I couldn't imagine not having a great fitting nail-carb combo. I used an Errlectric Vortex carb cap with my old setup, and learned the importance of a great fitting nail and carb cap. Still getting used to the bigger size of the SiC dish and carb cap...huge compared to last setup lol.

What do you Auber enail controller users set your temp to with the SiC dish?
