Thank you!
I used to smoke Old Holborn hand rolling tobacco, but not anymore! Thanks to the vapcap! I don't miss it and I don't wish to go back to smoking. I realized that I really like breathing!

its been 1 year 1 month and 10 days since I bought my last bag of American Spirit rolling tobacco. It's nice to not smoke anymore isn't it?

The girls in my 9th grade class teased me until I tried one of their cigarettes.

Being the klutz I was, I swallowed the smoke. Haven’t smoked a butt since, thankfully, and I am still vertical...

But happily, I learned to vaporize the happy stuff early on. So, there, girls!

WARNING! WAY TOTALLY OFF TOPIC...

Yes, I've read all the articles both for and against Guineas. I've been noodling about getting some for about 5 years now and finally decided to go for it. It's an experiment. Hopefully any aggravation will be worth reducing the tick population.

1. They are loud. Yes they are. But when in ideal conditions they are almost silent. My neighbour up the road has some and has yet to hear them make a huge squawking fuss. He came by today asking me if I would sell him some of my chicks. Yes, he's getting 6 of them.

2. They can be bullies. Yeserrie. Guineas are the bikers gangs of the fowl world. They are tough, wild and hardy. That said another neighbour houses them with his chickens with no problems at all.

3. They love to roam. I don't care. There is lots of land for them to roam. I have 300 acres of unpopulated land in front of my place and 800 acres behind me.

4. They will brood and breed. The more the merrier as I expect that we will lose some to predators. But Guineas are not great brooders and often will abandon the nest before the eggs hatch. In that case I would need to incubate the eggs myself if I want more. But if they do the job for me, that's great! If by some chance they over breed, the hunters will thin them out.

5. They are stupid. I would think so, but they can be trained to come for treats. They don't have a great sense of self preservation and are easy pickings for predators. They are about as stupid as the wild turkey around here. Quite clueless.

Never the less, it won't discourage me from coming to visit some time in the future. I'll bring headphones tho I think. And vapcaps of course. And barbecue. :)
Guineas are delicious. Maybe we'll BBQ a loud bossy one! I'll provide a variety of herb from my :leaf: garden and my Skelator. :spliff:

Any craftsman in this talented crowd source good at gold plating?

Might be glam to see some gold plated VapCap Madonnas strutting their stuff down High Street.....

Price of 24k Gold is going down, from a high of $1350/oz to $1330 today.

@mrb, I had wondered how you manage to get the same identical ping/indent mark
on both stems....

@Summer, if you have a gas stove, leave the coupled pieces in it for the night, or for
some time, the warming pilot underneath should eventually de-couple them as the wood shrink, and (hopefully) the glass expands, somewhat...

It's the same body. First I anodised then I sandblasted but taped the spiral. Just messing around trying things out...

Very cool idea!!!

I like your little pouch! Its a great size.

Thank you! It's alright. Fits in my pocket and it's a good way to keep a piece of memorabilia of an object well loved. Should have been more patient and given it a go with more detail and proper tools.

Durham region is getting bad for ticks also. Us southern Ontario vapcappers should have a meet and greet BBQ this summer.

Update on my situation with the 420 double order error:

Dynavap finally replied to my email after a week. Unfortunately it wasn’t the response I was hoping for...

Joe got in touch and his suggested solution is to ‘credit me’ the cost of the return shipping, and then when they receive the items back at Dynavap HQ he will refund me the cost of the order.

I said I’d be fine returning the items and I am. But I have already paid for the import tax and I did mention that point in my emails, so the fact Joe didn’t even mention it in his response was a little infuriating. I know someone asked before why I accepted the second parcel when I could have refused it and it would have gone back to Dynavap, but at the time my first thought was that Dynavap has split my order up into two packages.

Also, I understand that they don’t want to just refund me the value of the order without some assurance they’ll receive the items back, but I have spent literally hundreds of dollars on their website and it would be nice if there was a level of trust. What happens if the items are lost on their return transit? Would I be stuck with the bill and no items to soften the blow/for me to try and resell to recoup my money?

Also, it’s important to note that this isn’t my fault. It was caused by an error in their system and since 4/20 I have been out of pocket to the tune of ~$50 (plus ~$20 import tax).

After waiting a week for a response I was hoping for better customer service I guess. It seems like this 420 order has really thrown Dynavap off their game and I probably won’t be purchasing from them direct again. I’ll just wait until UK resellers have what I want in stock to save on the trans-Atlantic headache.

P.S. I did try and check on 420 to make sure the website glitch hadn’t duplicated my order. Unfortunately their system is flawed because this is what my purchase history looks like on my profile on their website:

As you can see, it only shows one order...

@Chiron I have sent them four emails and received one reply. It was early on Friday and I replied quickly but unfortunately they didn’t respond with the same haste and then the weekend was upon us. Hopefully I’ll hear something back tomorrow. Getting frustrated chasing them though when I’m the one who should be getting looked after due to their error; not chasing them.

I would like to say though, that I have spoken to their social media person via Facebook messenger over the past week and, although they’ve been unable to help me and just referred me back to joe at info@dynavap.com, they were very polite and friendly and went some way to assuaging my frustration.

Hopefully I get a better response tomorrow. If I’m lucky enough to get one so swiftly...

@Lady V That is a fantastic case! It looks like it's the perfect size. Leather is a wonderful soft material. I have a @Ratchett Vapcap Pouch and it is very handy.

Guineas need a higher protein diet than other fowl and ticks are a favorite of theirs. I have no idea if it is possible for the to contract Lyme Disease from eating the ticks, but I've never seen this mentioned in anyting I've read about them.

all I know is that the ticks have moved North up to Canada and I'm aiming to get rid of the ticks on my property and area. Have you thought of getting yourself a confusion of Guineas?

That's what a group of Guineas are called..a confusion, which I think describes them perfectly! :science:

This is the first I've heard of them. I'm new to the west coast, we had them bad in Ontario but I spent most of my life in the city and didn't worry about it much. I purchased 10 acres of undeveloped land not long ago on the south eastern tip of van island. With mild winters there's not much of a winter bug kill. All I've done for the past 6 months is bush work which as mentioned I stopped doing cuz the ticks. I'm not sure hens would make a difference with all the neighbouring forests.
In the states they seem to take Lyme disease a little more serious. Up here they are hesitant to give any meds for treatment. My best friend has had it for a year and a friend of a friend has had it for 5 and it's literally killing him.
The undergrowth is very thick here, it's been logged twice and with the amount of deadfall and growth I'd imagine it'd be hard for hens to get around.
Won't they just go off to other properties?
Lots of eagles preditors here too.

I didn't sleep at all last night...worrying about your vong and adapter...and you. Now I've just gotten back from church, where I said three Hail Marys on behalf of you and your vong. We are concerned, not only for your vong, but for your very sanity! Please tell us everything is now separated or at least give us an update.

You're too funny PBB! Thank you everyone for all the ideas for uncoupling. I've linked to this so next time I'll know what to do. I got it apart just by leaving it alone overnight. I thought I jammed it in too tight, but rather, I think that as I had it sitting in an ashcatcher with a little water in it overnight, the the moister caused the sticking. Anyway, I couldn't leave well enough alone after I posted (not unusual!) & tried gripping the tip with needlenoses & I chipped a tiny piece of the end so now the tip only stays in snuggly with a piece of hemp around it. Well, lesson learned.

I feel for your frustrations, VanCough, I am almost certain DynaVap will make it up
For the catastrophe. They always try to be a great CS for their friends their customers.

On the other hand you may have to kiss the cost of your acceptance of the customs fee as they never let go once they have it.

DV seems to have had some mishaps in production, and mailing, due perhaps to the increased demands
for the discounted sales.

I had my own comedy of errors, with US Snail. Some condensers were due delivery Friday.

So I watched, and waited. Nada.

Watched, and waited Saturday. More nothingness. Oblivion.

On tracking it, it seems the package made it to the local post office, sent out for delivery Friday
Morning. Late Friday afternoon it was tracked back down in the main sorting facility in Springfield, Mass.

Talk about dumb fucks.

It was last seen leaving on the truck back up to be delivered Monday afternoon!

Sorry for the rant, just had some *Espresso*, Joe

@BaroneBarra When you say "cold" do you mean really cold or room-temperature (not heated)? If the latter, just stick the whole thing in your freezer for a while. The SS will contract and the cap should slide off. I bet it will anyway, as its composition is different. If using pliers, wrap the tip in kitchen roll or cloth so it won't be scratched but if you cool the M way down in your freezer, fingers will be all you need. I use this method for old typewriter parts that have been stuck for decades so it should work for you.

The fun approach:
Do u have any pump eg from a bicycle? if u can seal the tip to the air outlet try a pressured air 'shot' :D, if that's not enough fill the pump with water and hit the pump once quick/hard (water is an incompressible fluid compaired to air, so a 'shockwave' travels like a hammer stroke, works the same for clogged hoses btw...)
but the easy way should be @pxl_jockey s version...
Edit: a stuck vapcap and a cartridge pump might be considered a weapon , ok maybe more an abv confetti gun ...

So, the only time I have gotten a cap stuck on the tip is when I have dropped the VC tip down and the edge of the tip slipped past the crimp in the cap. The best way to separate it was to put a flathead screwdriver tip at the digerouter and either softly pry the cap (depending on fin position) or push the cap at the diger.

Once that has happened, btw, the crimp can me lessened and the cap may not be as good in the IH because the push to activate the switch may hang the cap. :(

That may be an upside for Georges optical switch...

I was just going to make a post about mine:) My 4:20 cap has gotten stuck a couple of times on the Titanium tip (one that came with the free titanium tip promo). It was stuck on there real good. I've gotten it loose by using a wobbling force while pulling on it.

Can you pass a bamboo skewer (flat end) through the condenser from the mouthpiece end and push? You'd have to pop the ccd with it but it might be woth a shot.

Thanks everyone for the help! It worked.
Put the M in the freezer, then holding the tip with pliers I managed to "unscrew" the cap.
I have to say that after this the cap was pretty loose, and it fell on my friend's beach towel yesterday. Burned it a bit too.

Anyway, I pressed it with my fingers and now everything's back to normal.

Cheers!

Yeah I’ve spoken up in support of them and their customer service in the past, I’m just not experiencing it myself this time around.

If I have to pay the customs fee then there’s no point in returning the items and I’ll be better off selling them on eBay or the classifieds on here. It’s just a ballache because who knows if anyone will buy them and the responsibility for me getting my money back should lie with Dynavap because it was their system error that caused this.

The Dynavap person I spoke to on Facebook did say Joe was ‘working through emails’, leading me to believe he’s swamped. It seems to me like Dynavap need to employ more/better people if they want to scale with their demand. At the moment they’re turning long time customers into disgruntled ones...

Growing pains. Sometimes it hits you the wrong way....

DV will try to resolve it, I believe their customer loyalty is based on good faith.

In the meantime, as you mentioned, you could recoup your expense by selling the extra,
and move on.

You say life is too short to , but if your advise to customers who have received poor service is to stop moaning and try to resolve the issue independently of the company (even though it was their error) you cannot then also claim they have good customer service? Reselling should be a last resort option.

I am still hopeful Dynavap will resolve this issue for me, all I want is a refund for the cost of the order, the import fee, and the return shipping. Preferably paid in full immediately, trusting that I am an honest person and will return the items. Is that too much to ask?
