@BaroneBarra When you say "cold" do you mean really cold or room-temperature (not heated)? If the latter, just stick the whole thing in your freezer for a while. The SS will contract and the cap should slide off. I bet it will anyway, as its composition is different. If using pliers, wrap the tip in kitchen roll or cloth so it won't be scratched but if you cool the M way down in your freezer, fingers will be all you need. I use this method for old typewriter parts that have been stuck for decades so it should work for you.

In case you've never experienced a really cold environment, do not put a frozen M in your mouth!

How is everyone in Vapcapland? I'm so happy we still have @Winegums here, it would not be the same without him. I had some winegums in my pick-n-mix at the cinema the other day, in his honour.

Have a Super Sunday!

So, talking about stuck things... the cap on my 2017 M won't come off.
I tried gently with pliers, both while cold and after heating it, but nothing worked.

Any advice?
The fun approach:
Do u have any pump eg from a bicycle? if u can seal the tip to the air outlet try a pressured air 'shot' :D, if that's not enough fill the pump with water and hit the pump once quick/hard (water is an incompressible fluid compaired to air, so a 'shockwave' travels like a hammer stroke, works the same for clogged hoses btw...)
but the easy way should be @pxl_jockey s version...
Edit: a stuck vapcap and a cartridge pump might be considered a weapon , ok maybe more an abv confetti gun ...

I got my vong stuck in a 14mm adaptor. Wedged in really good. Have briefly tried hot water & trying to drizzle oil down between the glass & wood, but the 2 are really solidified tightly together. So short of having to break to the stem to get it out, any ideas?
What kind of adapter? You might put it in the freezer for 10 minutes...

What about the opposite approach?

Place it in a warm oven for a bit. The wood may dry out slightly and shrink. Then twist to remove rather that trying to pull it straight out.

If you would like to be part of the meet up, to meet George and Vapcap enthousiasts, please let me know in this thread:

1) If you would like to come to the meet up

I don't know how I missed this post. Put the VonG and glass in some Rice or dry saw dust. Do not use excessive heat like an oven or you may crack the wood.

You made things much worse for yourself when you used hot water, it would massively expand the wood. So if it wasn't stuck, it would be REALLY stuck now. I mean stuck hard enough that it might as well be welded to the glass. The only way to get it out now is to lower the moisture content in the wood gently so that it shrinks.

I didn't sleep at all last night...worrying about your vong and adapter...and you. Now I've just gotten back from church, where I said three Hail Marys on behalf of you and your vong. We are concerned, not only for your vong, but for your very sanity! Please tell us everything is now separated or at least give us an update.

And you know what they say: In case of Emergency, Break the Glass!

So, the only time I have gotten a cap stuck on the tip is when I have dropped the VC tip down and the edge of the tip slipped past the crimp in the cap. The best way to separate it was to put a flathead screwdriver tip at the digerouter and either softly pry the cap (depending on fin position) or push the cap at the diger.

Once that has happened, btw, the crimp can me lessened and the cap may not be as good in the IH because the push to activate the switch may hang the cap. :(

That may be an upside for Georges optical switch...

I was just going to make a post about mine:) My 4:20 cap has gotten stuck a couple of times on the Titanium tip (one that came with the free titanium tip promo). It was stuck on there real good. I've gotten it loose by using a wobbling force while pulling on it.

Can you pass a bamboo skewer (flat end) through the condenser from the mouthpiece end and push? You'd have to pop the ccd with it but it might be woth a shot.

Hey there lovely people! (and I mean this)

Today I fashioned a tiny vapcap case. I repurposed an old leather tobacco pouch. I cut it in three pieces and ended up with two small pouches. Of course as I got no tools, the seam and the right edge are all crooked and weird but, it works for now.

I'm so jealous of all you guys in Amsterdam and Berlin... I wish you have lots of fun with George and the gang.

Yes!
@Summer I hope you managed to get your vong back!

My Guinea Keets will be used for land management. Ticks have been progressively moving North and we now solidly have them in Canada. The last several years the population seems to have boomed. I use an essential oil blend to deter them which works quite well but I'd like to control their overall population. It is not unusual to emerge from a hike in the woods with several ticks on you.

Guinea Fowl are tick eating monsters. One bird will clear an acre of ticks and can average eating 4000 ticks a day. So this is an experiment to see if they can reduce the tick s on my property. Of course once they are old enough and have been trained to return to a coop at night, they will free range the property.

They lay small eggs similar to a bantam chicken which are very good. But Guineas are unreliable layers and will deposit eggs at the base of trees or where ever instead of in their coop's nesting box. They are also good eating. Some say they are the best chicken they've ever had! But my Guineas will spend their lives patrolling the property for ticks and garden bugs.

I'm spending a lot of time with them, getting them used to my voice and used to being handled. They are a wilder fowl compared to the more domesticated chickens or turkey and I'm hoping that through lots of human socialization I can tame them down a bit and respond to my call. I'm training them with white millet which is a favorite treat. Here is a pic. It is terrible as there is not a lot of light and they are kept under a red heat lamp. They are 3 days old.

So, you can imagine that my VapCap comes in handy when I'm spending the day sitting on the ground, yammering on endlessly to a bunch of little baby bird brains while picking each of them up, checking them over for any potential problem, petting them and then on to the next.

I'm using my Hammered Titanium stem from @stardustsailor right now and hope to one day soon obtain a knurled stem from him once he begins production once more. The knurled stem will live out in the workshop which is doubling right now as a Guinea brooder. It will blend in nicely with the tool box bits. I love the first stem here.

I'm also thinking of getting one of the Titanium bolt stash that he recommends.

@Radamisto You have a fantastic set up and your quail are beautiful!

Do they get Lyme disease from the ticks? I had to stop working on my property for this reason and now just going to clear bush and fall trees in the winter :(
I heard the ticks came up here with birds from the south

@Lady V That is a fantastic case! It looks like it's the perfect size. Leather is a wonderful soft material. I have a @Ratchett Vapcap Pouch and it is very handy.

Guineas need a higher protein diet than other fowl and ticks are a favorite of theirs. I have no idea if it is possible for the to contract Lyme Disease from eating the ticks, but I've never seen this mentioned in anyting I've read about them.

all I know is that the ticks have moved North up to Canada and I'm aiming to get rid of the ticks on my property and area. Have you thought of getting yourself a confusion of Guineas?

That's what a group of Guineas are called..a confusion, which I think describes them perfectly! :science:

You're too kind! It was @Ratchett 's awesome pouch I saw and thought that I 'd prefer a nice small and pocketable case for my M, to my noisy mints tin. I'll probably get my hands on some tools and try and make a nicer one (this is wonky and too DIY).

BTW just tried my M without it's condenser! It rocks!

Funny, that's what a group of Trump supporters is called... Oh wait, wrong group...

So, I have been reading a little about these guys cause I had never heard of them before. Knowing you as we do I truly doubt you would enter into a project like this without doing the research, but I would find articles like this discouraging. It is, of course, one person's opinion, but it isn't a very attractive one to me.

Never the less, it won't discourage me from coming to visit some time in the future. I'll bring headphones tho I think. And vapcaps of course. And barbecue. :)

Hmm it's so tempting  I have to convince my superego
