Finally received my SS hopper ordered on March 2nd. It was shipped may 3rd but still only shows as 'processed' on my account page on the website. Also no customs fees which was a really nice supprise.
So far I've only ran 2 half full bowls through it but I'm well impressed. Some proper testing will take place over the next few days/weeks :science:

Could someone just post a pic of the inside of the new refined hopper (Since April/May) where the battery sits? Since it’s renovation the last few months. I had my unit fixed in October just wondering if I had the new upgrades. A question a few might want to know. Love my GH. I haven’t had any problems. I don’t use it everyday though. Not enough time in the day. I have several fave vapes.

Using my hopper right now with some Gorilla Glue using a Vapirblunt water tube made for the Pinnacle Pro. A great paring IMO.

I’d suspect not the newest parts. Based on their communication, it was February or so before they started with their latest version of parts. My October repair did not have the newest parts.

Wow...just wow. Means I'm probably at least another month away after sending at the end of Feb.

Really sucks balls.

You never know....seeing RMA’s from Nov, Dec, and Jan being sent back on here and on Reddit....seems they are sending them random and not in order so you could be sooner...or later....

I’m now at 26 weeks 182 days waiting....:hmm:

Is it possible that some who have "defective" units aren't maintaining them well? I bought a used grasshopper, and when it came it was pretty beat up. I actually wasn't sure how it could be titanium, because I didn't know titanium could get so scratched up. I got 1 or 2 crappy hits out of a fully charged GHB2. The back end felt like it was going to catch on fire. Vapor tasted bad, zero visible clouds and no effect. But somehow it was roasting the weed quickly.

This unit is from 2017 and I'm pretty sure the PO thought it was defective. When I got it and saw how poorly it was performing, I PMed the reddit user who sold it to me and he ghosted his reddit account. I had no idea how to troubleshoot it so I almost sent it back to HL straight away, but I was really disappointed to start off my experience with this device this way, because I'd read so much and I was so excited to not have to wait for a new unit. So then I read some troubleshooting info and spent some time in this thread. It had a lot of the problems most people here and on reddit generally complain about. But it was easy to deep clean it and get it back up and running again.

I took the whole thing apart and deep cleaned with iso, degummed the threads, cleaned out the chamber and the battery terminals. Some really nasty black gunk came off the back end threads, the device was really gross. Putting it back together everything was MUCH smoother, felt like what I imagine is like new.

Put some herb in and took some hits, HUGE super tasty clouds at 3.5-5. In my water pipes or just hitting it with the PFE. Doesn't get too hot. Batteries are worn for sure, but much better than they were. About 1 bowl per battery charge, but that's about 5 or 6 big hits.

I'm finding that if I take multiple small puffs on it, kind of like a cigar, it ramps up the heat back and forth really quickly and you get massive clouds, but the unit doesn't heat up that much, and the vapor stays relatively cool. I find that this works much better than just ripping on it. Really efficient with herb this way, super dark ABV and better battery life.

I know everyone's situation is different, but it may be that some just aren't taking great care of these things sometimes, and that is causing them to under-perform or fail. I work in IT and I see a lot of clients who treat their computers really poorly and then complain when their devices fail.

I did order a new TI hopper because I like this one so much, and I'll probably sell the beat up unit. I'm really blown away by this little thing. I have a Flowerpot Showerhead, an Evo, a Mighty and an OmniVap on the way in the mail. The Grasshopper is definitely my favorite vape so far, by a longshot. The formfactor is great, the design is awesome, the battery life is great, the taste is good, using it with water tools is fantastic. It's a conversation starter, it's beautiful, inconspicuous. I always feel strange using my Mighty out in public and I never bother using it at shows because it's so obvious. The Grasshopper is just so good for that.

I decided to pay full price for a new hopper because I want to support this company and I want them to do well. The hopper is a very unique, awesome product that I am very happy to have come across. I hope that they get through the issues that they've been dealing with, and I hope all the people who are waiting on units, either being serviced or new orders, get them soon.

No other company has been able to make anything nearly as good, so I think we as a community have the power to support them if we can, so they can succeed and continue making this great product. I think as popularity increases, eventually we will see competitors. But until then nothing really comes close. I want them to stick around.

How far did you actually dis-assemble it? Did you remove the internal screen and heat element? The electronics? Or are you referring to cleaning the chamber and all the threads?

It's always nice to hear a great human interest story with a happy ending.

Just the chamber and threads, didn’t take any electronics apart. Was surprised at how much of a difference it made!

Of course it is. Of course there have also been a legion of failures from owners who have taken care of it like it was their first born child.

If the used one is working well, I would suggest you keep it.....definitely KEEP IT as there is a good chance you will need a spare at some point with a GH.

Would love to read a more detailed description (guide?) of the steps you took.

Hear these new Fury 2 capsules are tiny.

https://www.healthyrips.com/store/p45/FURY_2:_Set_of_5_Dosing_Capsules.html

Think they'd fit our Hoppers? Would love to have 5 sessions locked and loaded!

The capsules are 10mm wide, don’t have the hopper with me but maybe someone can measure the chamber width.

Nothing crazy! Just took a bunch of q tips and iso, took the front and back end off and cleaned everything as best I could. A lot of gunk came out of both ends.

I can gladly oblige with a new unit. Shooting down the barrel is tricky with a phone and a high blood THC count :freak:
Pretty damn happy with the device! It's had a fair workout already

It's PCB in question looks different to my older units. Looks like three diagnostic points, new components, perhaps a thinner board at a guess 0.6mm .. the silver square components, could be anything, but could be new crystals. They look fancy.

Through my work, one of our products was having problems with power line comms due to thermal issues. Although specced for it, the circuit clock crystals were being impacted by heat and causing weird problems. Might be a similar deal with PWM and the location of components / nature of the GH.

Whatever the case, there are obvious signs of revision and I am loving what I'm seeing. Seriously, polychromatic titanium is mesmerising. I couldn't be happier with the finish.

One thing I'm wondering about though, is the golden surround of the PCB - it looks to be some kind of adhesive or sealant that covers the PCB and is the cause of the weird battery terminal wear pattern. I did a couple of dry empty hits initially, this same material is used as a lock tight on the internal threads housing the PCB/heater/chamber assembly. I got minute flavour. Machine oils residue and perhaps some additional sweet flavour that I might attribute to what would hopefully be a food safe electronics protection. I'll reach out to HL about it - I'd assume there should be a MSDS..
Although obviously a questionable material, i don't recall noticing it before, and it could be a good move to prevent damage. So I'm not too worried given the companies history regarding material selection, but considering it was effectively sealing my front-end on from the box - one thing I will say about the two purchases that have arrived here over the last couple of weeks is that it's very obvious these guys are absolutely rushed for time. It's not the best time to buy, premium units being shipped with pen marks and sealed lids is pretty half arsed. But overall it washes off and so far so good

I think the GH chamber is 7mm wide, I might be wrong but it does look like less than a centimetre.

I think pods could be a nice extra. But a Grasshopper Feeder that was diecast or something along those lines, I'd much prefer. The 3D printed PLA is decent enough for now, I'm keen to try it again it's basically been a year ...

It's perfect for pump action chamber filling discreetly in public or in a rush

The feeder is great, although I definitely go through them, usually an issue to it melting a little leaving it in a car or pieces getting to gunked up and breaking. I have talked to HL about both ideas (chill pills and a feeder). I think they're more likely to experiment with chill pills but I am happy to lobby them for you, my rates are surprisingly affordable for this type of issue ;-)

Has little to nothing to do with it. Hopper Labs themselves has admitted there is a problem. For a company to admit there is a problem with their product publicly instead of blaming the customer means it is a pretty big problem. That's why they were down for so long bringing some of the processes in house. Guarantee they didn't go down for months and stop shipping orders because of user error.

I sent mine in at the end of January and they have yet to respond to any of my questions for the past 1 and a 1/2 months.

Hi everyone I have been following the hopper and reading this thread for a year or so and despite the reported problems I still really want one as for me I think it would be perfect with its quick heat time take 2 puffs then done without my herb cooking in a hot oven in my pocket. I use a da Buddha at home so I would be using the hopper as my portable unit once or twice a day and without a water pipe. My vivant alternate is about to crumble for the last time so I'm on the look out for a new portable. I have also been looking at the boundless terra and fury 2 but for me there's just something about the hopper these units don't have. However I would need good reliability as I'm in the UK and the shipping to the states and long repair times are putting me off. Do you think the hopper would last a lot longer if lighty used at lower temps.

I honestly don't think you should concern yourself with light use or temperatures, as problems have arisen regardless of reported usage patterns. IOW, if you get one, go for it - use it any way that suits you. My advice is to purchase one. In fact, my advice would be to purchase two, but that may not be feasible for you.

The reason I suggest that so directly is that for what you want to do with it, I agree 1000% that the configuration of the GH has no parallel in any other device. I use mine constantly throughout busy days because I can duck out of direct sight for 30 seconds, use the device, and get back to my activities. There is nothing else as quick, clean, odor-free, and dead effective. My friends and I have two, because we've had them for some time, and all have gone back for repair at one time or another. It's nice to have a spare. One of mine is in the shop now.

Here's the good news: The makers are promising that orders placed now will receive a device that is improved over the older units in both performance and reliability. Mine will come back with the vaunted "new internals" as well.

Obviously I'm recommending that you roll the dice and get a Grasshopper. I feel it's well worth it. Good luck!
