mosdef time well spent... all rosintech related questions are welcome, whether in particular to our press or the tech in general. I'll do my best to provide a clear answer :sherlock:

Damn I think I need a rollie too now! @FlashVAPE you guys are based in Canada? Just curious what the total on a rollie would be in CND funds? I'm located near Toronto, Ontario.

@biohacker, sorry buddy, i missed your question earlier. In Canadian funds it works out to about $2400 plus tax (Rollie+hand pump), which includes shipping via Purolator Ground (typically 4-5 days for delivery).

So there's no parchment, but you have to scrape the plates after every press right? The edited video leaves that bit out, but that's the realization of squishing with no parchment, isn't it @FlashVAPE ?

@invertedisdead, you dont have to clean the plates after each press. you can simply clean the plates when you switch strains to prevent cross contamination, or at the end of your session when you are ready to call it the day. I've outlined some cleaning techniques in an earlier post this morning, here it is for your easy reference:

The plates on our presses such as the ROLLIE are hard anodized, which creates a harder than steel surface on the aluminum plate that is also non-stick. Before you upright the press after the squish, use a silicon kitchen spatula spoon to give the crack between the plates a quick swipe, to collect the droplets which have not drip down at the end. Then upright the press, and switch out the chips for new bagged pucks. Pressurize and down goes the press again, to repeat the cycle. There will always be the same amount of rosin stuck on the plates no matter if you are squishing just 1 set of pucks or 100 set of pucks in this one cycle, as new rosin being produced by fresh pucks will displace most of what's left on the plates from the last set of squished chips. So this amount of rosin left on the plates when running paperless, becomes less significant the more weight you process in one session. Whats more is that at the end when you are cleaning up, simply use your silicon spatula spoon to give the the plate a quick squeegee, and you will be able to collect most of that rosin left on the plate anyways. Clean up is easy, just use a 70/30 mix of ISO alcohol/water on paper towel to wipe down the plate's surface. Your done in less than a minute, and ready for the next strain. We've designed these machines with just about everything exposed and easily accessible, to make cleaning up a breeze. In our video tutorial series about to be released, we will show this process in detail. If you do a quick wipe down after each session, you dont really have much to worry about in terms of a sticky mess. And also, cleaning while the plates are hot is much easier, just put on a set of thicker rubber of silicon gloves and go at it, without the need to cool down the system completely.

;)

Nice press!

Did you weigh the remaining rosin which sticks to the plates? How much is it?

And did you test it itself? What's about it's colour and terpene profile?
Guess it's getting darker than the main amount of rosin and it's loosing more terps even when cleaned immediately after squishing?

The weight of rosin stuck on the plate, is anywhere from .3-.5 grams in total after running a paperless session depending on the strain, as some strains press out thinner and more runny. 90% of this is recoverable with a spatula spoon. This amount of weight remains pretty much exactly the same whether pressing 1 set or 100 set of pucks in the session.

The color of the recovered rosin is slightly darker than the 1st run rosin off the drip, and Id keep that separate than the rest of the batch... but it tokes just as good, with pretty much the same terpene profile. Some will argue that it obviously will have less terpenes than the dripped variety, and that is probably true. But honestly, it's so concentrate that to the human nose, most will have a hard time telling the difference.

Thanks! But is it really so much easier to collect rosin from silicone directely with cleaning of the plates than from parchment?

These presses look Bomb! Nice and compact and built tough!
Really like the drip tech as well.
Pricey but possibly a worthy investment.
I have to agree.
It will take some hard work and careful planning...
... but I hope to arrive there!

I am believing it is

Packaged nicely with a few extra silicone containers and scraping tools thrown in which was nice. Still haven't taken her on the first run yet. Maiden voyage soon.

I know it is a ways off still but memorial day weekendi will likely experiment with squishing bubble hash, dry ice kief, regular kief, straight trim, and fresh curred flowers and see what is ideal under various temps.

Any recommendations on best and least labor intense method to turn quality trim to rosin? IE: straight pressed trim vs..trim turned to dry ice kief, vs trim turned bubble hash, ect. Thanks all.

You can also compress dry ice kief into sizable plugs, and squish for rosin.

Finally squished my first ounce. Blew out the bag on the first try which likely effected the yield. Right around 3 grams yield. Going to try and squish some more 14 grams at a time until i get the hang of it and yield increases.

Memorial weekend i will have the opportunity to turn trim into dry ice hash. We shall see how that goes too.

More to come

Edit. I could visually see how the bag blowout fucked me over. Lots of rosin stuck onto the puck/bag

Edit again. Tried one more time. Only one puck 14 grams. I took it slower on the pump and didn't get a blowout. I got a similar yield per gram, less than i wanted with quality herb stored with Bovoda packs but i probably need to fix my technique as i have very minimal rosin making experience. I got a lot better drip action this time and the majority of the rosin did drip down. The blowout the first time yielded similar but much more came from the plate.

Did you notice any taste differences between the rosin that dripped off the plates and the rosin that you have had to collect off the plates?

Too early to tell as i mixed the plate rosin with the drip rosin on both runs. Color appeared the same but i admit although i have good vision i have issues seeing very slight color variations and the lighting wasn't perfect. This is something i will look to answer in future runs.

Had the flowerpot twax out just dabbing along having a good time fun first run(s) great flavor.

This rollie setup may be overkill for me but i see how it would be perfect for someone constantly running the same strand through over and over. Really it gains it's value in 2 runs or more. It would keep dripping down and you only clean the plate once.

I may add paper in the future too as i practice with flower likely only running one puck at a time. If i measure and cut paper it should still drip the same but the plates will be clean and the paper ready too. I will get a run at some good dry ice kief soon, not sure how much but fingers crossed

Happy 710 everyone! dabs all around  !!!

Today's a fine day to drop the how-to video of ROLLIE on electric pump, with a bonus track of a quick rosin dab in the FV at the end to wrap it up

enjoy and HMU anytime if you've any questions!

Excellent video, thank you.

Really liking mine a lot. Only trouble i have is getting the rosin off the spatuala i use to clean the plates. Any suggestions? Would something stainless steel like a metal spatuala be safe to use also?

Thanks a lot. Cheers, and happy squishing.

hey great to hear you're having a great time! dont use any sharp metal to scrape the plates for sure. you dont want to cause any scratches to the hard anodized non stick surface.

just put the spatula in the fridge for a few minutes, you will find that rosin much easier to handle. what I usually do is just use that stainless steel scraper tool and get it right off the spatula easy once it is more solidified.

Perhaps some more vids? Only see 2 on YT.
After experimenting quite a while do you still use it w/o parchment paper?
