I use my Splinter with ArcticFox Firmware on a Wismec Predator. At first I was having good results with the stock firmware in Wattage as well as in TCR (set to 175 with a max wattage of 66) but after a bit I was noticing that I kept having to bump up the temperature in order to achieve the same results. Once I updated to ArcticFox, which allows you to monitor live temperature and resistance, I started noticing my resistance jumping around, even when at room temperature. At first I thought it might be the 510 connection but actually it was the mods frame itself, which I tightened with a small screwdriver and voilà! Now my resistance is stable, which is an absolute must for TCR.

My settings are currently:
-Resistance locked at 0.246 ohms
-TCR at 172
-Max wattage at 50W
-PI regulation enabled at P=1500 I=285
-Starting temp around 168 Celsius and usually finishing at 184 Celcius
-15 second puff cutoff

I did lower my max wattage after @KeroZen pointed out Ryan recommends no more than 50W. This means a slightly slower heatup (around 3.5 seconds) but drastically reduces hotspots. I also have taken to rotating my stem/cooling unit to achieve more even ABV. If I go straight to 184 Celsius and rotate my stem, I can cache an EQ basket screen in 2 massive 30 sec lung busters.

Having some issues with my splinter setup. Not sure if its the splinter or mod box.

Have an evic cuboid using funky junkys firmware. My resistance keeps changing. Keep getting the resistance changing message. Also the mod would not go in to TC mode the other day until i took batteries out. Splinter still gets me stoned.

Seems like the mod could be broke. Was also getting resistance messages on my DNA mod. Only small changes. That mod was also a bit dodgy, as he only just made it and untested. Sold the DNA now as too big.

Have a smoant cylon waiting for me at the post office. Ill wait to see what happens when i try the cylon.

My mod has odd glitches like this sometimes too. Sometimes all it takes is unscrewing the splinter and screwing it back in. Or turning off and turning on. Mine gets stuck on wattage sometimes too. When I first turn mine on my resistances are off, I press the fire button 1 time and it goes back to normal. No idea why.

@oddjobold I've the same issue with my I-Heat try to tighten the Hex screw on the 510 pin. i've tightened the hex srew two times since my resistance don't change

If you've been swapping it back and forth between mod boxes it's possible that you have loosened the connector. The centre post on the bottom looks like a slotted screw head. See if it's loose and if so, tighten gently. I wouldn't put too much force on it, but making it finger tight should be okay.

This message is for Splinter owners who may want to use @funkyjunky (Tubo Evic) firmware.

There is a new firmware version out now that can be set to an auto temp step. You set start and end temps, session length and number of steps and the firmware does rest.

I have not used the Tubo through water, but the options to auto temp step may interest folks who want to have a long session through water.

i wasn't aware that we can use the tubo software for our splinters. does it require a specific mod box to use it/

VAS is real. You people are killing me. Can anyone comment on why I need a splinter and my tubo or should I just try and get in a list and find out?

Think of it more like, do you want a tubo + tubo-x? If you do then the Splinter would be an alternative to the tubo-x.

Both the tubo-x and the splinter are 510 dry herb mods which allow you to use any regulated ecig mod you desire. It offers an extra level of customisation to the experience.

Do you need both a tubo and splinter, no not at all.

A splinter + box mod = tubo, albeit in a different form factor. The vapor experience is basically going to be very similar.

If I had a tubo I'd probably only get the splinter because I'm a maniac and I like playing with all the different techs but at the end of the day most folk who already have a tubo would likely not want or need a splinter.

I wish there was a way to know what number I am on the wait list. It's gonna be a while yet and I've watched some of Ryan's recent streams so I'm in the loop about his sourcing and such. It seems like there's going to be a few more months ramping up production and ironing out various wrinkles before he can make a bigger run that would get a larger segment of the list checked off.

Nice of him to get that stack of thirty out the door. I think the total wait list is close to 400 though so he's right to scale up his operation even if it means a longer waits in the short term

IMO, the biggest issue of TUBOx vs Splinter is how you plan to use the vape? If going through water the majority of the time, the TUBOx would make more sense. If you want to use a 510 mod you already have then a splinter or TUBOx would be about the same.

For me it would be a closer thing if the tubo x screwed straight on to the top of my mod, rather than the whip style extension that you attach the heater via.

The simplicity of the heater going straight onto my mod, for one handed ergonomic handling wins out.... not that i have tried either...

Do we know which number Ryan is up to? And more importantly how do I get one of those cooling mouthpieces he just posted on IG.

(crossposting to Milaana thread)

Really digging the "melt-forming" cooling mouthpieces on instagram. I've found the Splinter/Milaana w/ a cooling mouthpiece is my favorite way to prep for a movie, but I'm too clumsy for the Vapefiend Milaana Cooling Mouthpiece (I've broken two, the internal glass doesn't like drops) so I'm looking for a sturdier solution.

In the meantime, I'm very happy w this very rough micro-dosing rig:

I'd been using DDave 14mm adapter but didn't like three parts - adapter, stem, and mini-basket - moving around on me. So I got a Slim Short stem and a Top Hat from 420EDC, added a couple mini-baskets, and hit everything w a shop torch long enough to stick or at least warp the glass pieces together. The result isn't pretty but it works.

My ideal setup would be two mouthpieces - one micro-dosing stem (made by someone w actual glass skills) for regular use, and one (decently hard to break) cooling stem for heavy hitting.

Well, it looks like those stems on IG might not happen. The guy who owns elev8r commented saying that he own the patent. :( Well, for those inclined, you can always take a RBT stem & make your own. Just have to find out how to make the dimples in the glass.

Saw that too. I have seen tons of glass that have a very similar feature. Not sure how someone can have a patent on that exact shape....
